Remember how for years everyone was worried about protecting the sanctity of women’s sports because it was important for women to have the space to compete and find success in athletic competition against other women where they would not be compared to or be forced to compete against men? While I am 100% sympathetic to the biological men and women who transition or who haven’t transitioned but feel trapped in a body they reject, and have no problem using their preferred pronouns out of common decency and respect, this is where we as a society have to draw the line.

The two non-transitioned transgirl track athletes in CT have obliterated the biological female competition and now own all the records in their events.

Transwomen playing rugby against biological women are dominating their sport and hurting those biological women.

Fallon Fox went out and caused extreme damage to woman in MMA because she has the advantage of being a biological male, meaning she has greater skeletal and muscular density and strength to give her punches and kicks more speed and power.

At the end of the day, how far are the Wokeists going to take this? Because if I’m a woman’s CBB coach, I’m looking to recruit a starting five of all transwomen who are good at basketball to play for me. Or maybe just get one to play center or power forward and allow her to completely dominate with above the rim basketball skill. Same with track. Or swimming. Or softball. If I’m a coach, I’m salivating at the possibility of getting one or two transwomen on my team to be the difference maker to leading us to a national title at the expense of biological females, because at the end of the day if the Wokeists keep telling us there’s no difference between women and transwomen (when everyone with a brain and a cursory understanding o biology and anatomy knows there is), I’m going to take them at their word.

I never thought I’d live to see the day where people are actively campaigning for the end of women’s collegiate sports. Up is down. Black is white. Cats and dogs living together. Mass hysteria.

    • It’s so inspiring to hear people who never cared about women’s sports (Corch, I’m speaking generally, not directly at you) suddenly become passionate about them.

Just like it was so cool yesterday to hear an outpouring of concern for black Americans.

      What a country, eh?

      • I think that misses the point. Just because we aren’t consumers of women sports doesn’t mean that we can’t recognize a violation of fair play. I’m very progressive on most matters related to gender issues (two kids in the LGTBQ community), but in my mind, they have to find a way to solve the natural biological advantages that males have to create a level playing field. I like Martina Navrotalova’s stance.

Senate Bill 514 would also compel state employees to immediately notify parents in writing if their child displays “gender nonconformity” or expresses a desire to be treated in a way that is incompatible with the gender they were assigned at birth…

… I’ll just say that I lack your equanimity. Most of what is out there now doesn’t have jack shit to do with leveling a playing field, because most of the assholes pushing this crap have never seen the playing field. It’s just more culture war posturing.

Except those reports have been thoroughly and laughingly discredited.

Transwomen who transition after the onset of puberty will always have denser muscular and skeletal structure, will always be faster, and will always be stronger, than biological females.

I’m sorry that science is so difficult for trans-rights activists, but we cannot change the fact that home sapiens is a sexually dimorphic species.

The studies trotted out by trans-activists and Wokeists always deal with the amount of testosterone in the blood as opposed to the actual, biological differences that exist.

Also, here’s another consideration: Why, if there are no biological differences between trans people and people who stay their biological sex, is it that no one cares about or opposes trans men playing men’s sports?

The fact that the trans activists and Wokeists never have a good answer to that question is all the answer you ever need for why it is important to protect women’s sports for biological women.

Pistorious competed in the Special Olympics. If trans women want to develop their own divisions for competitions, then they should. They should not compete against biological women because they have a scientifically-proven advantage in muscular, skeletal, and even vascular and respiratory advantage. Period.

No, I am wrong about that, sure. It all boils down to: Does the blades he wore give him an advantage over the other men running or do they approximate their ability to run? The answer is no.

Trans women have a scientifically proven biological advantage over biological women because human beings are a sexually dimorphic species. They have the skeletal and muscular structures along with the respiratory and vascular systems of biological men, all of which give them a distinct and undeniable advantage against biological women in sport.

Tell me I’m wrong about THAT, Derek. Please do. We already know the kind of person you are in your heart because you told us yesterday. Now tell us all you’re 100% completely in the bag for ideological activism over scientific fact so we know what is (or isn’t) in your brain.

Many people feel that not having calves and feet that have to be trained, get sore and/or get injured is an advantage.

These are people with the ability to think.

That said, the real issue isn’t absolute fairness anyway. Its a question of degree, proportionality and inclusion.

The links in the article are linked to studies. Nice try.

Same statement I posed to Derek:

Tell us all that biological men do not have more dense skeletal and muscular structure than biological females. Also tell us that biological men do no have larger hearts and lungs with which to better process oxygen and then increase the ability of fast-twitch muscle fibers (of which they also have more) than biological females can or do.

Tell us all you reject the scientifically proved fact that human beings are sexually dimorphic and that there is no difference in being male or female sexed.

Because that is what you’re saying when you drone on about disproven studies that only talk about hormones as to why there’s no difference, and that ignore that actual differences that provide a distinct advantage.

                  Tell us you deny science.

Speaking of hormone therapy, as this issue progresses, will it also open up a new can of worms as far as PED testing is concerned? Will there have to be a separate set of parameters for trans athletes? I can see where testosterone supplementing could be an issue for trans males, but I’ll admit I’m totally ignorant on what other substances may raise concerns.

If you’re paying attention, no one other than religious nutjobs has any issue with trans males competing in sports with biological males, because they know no matter how much testosterone they take, trans males have less dense skeletal and muscular structure meaning they’ll never be as fast or strong, and their vascular and respiratory systems mean they don’t process oxygen with near the amount of the same effeciency as biological males, which again, puts them at a disadvantage.

Again, there is a reason why those with common sense and without an agenda to agitate on behalf-of are saying trans women should not compete in the same sports as biological women, but don’t care about the inverse.

So the big kicker here is “naturally occurring.” Caster Semenya has naturally occurring higher levels of testosterone, yet she is now required to take medication to reduce her testosterone levels if she wants to compete. This is odd because lots of athletes have natural advantages that allow them to excel – Mike Phelps for example. Why should Semenya be subjected to special provisions?

The international governing bodies have all the data on normal ranges of various hormones. If something is out of sorts, it will get noticed. Thus, no special requirements are needed.

The testosterone is not what gives them the advantage. Y’all really need to read more.

The advantage does come from hormones. The advantage comes from the scientific fact that homo sapiens are sexually dimorphic, which means that no matter what, all things being equal, men are stronger and faster than women, and can process oxygen with more efficiency than women, all of which provides a trans woman with distinct advantages over biological women in sport.

Again, why does no one (but religions nut jobs) have a problem with trans men competing against males in sports?

I can understand how you would feel, however, though I don’t believe you are going to hell and I would respect your personal pronoun preference, I would not want you to take away from biological women because your advantages are always there regardless of hormone treatments.

Not everyone who wants to protect a biological woman’s space to safely and fairly compete on a level playing field is a religious nut job, and the concerns are valid. Thanks!

Somedays I really miss putting on my cammies in the morning after PT and a shower, going to morning formation, and then sitting around all day in the barracks waiting and waiting and waiting.

It was a much simpler life, that’s for sure.

I have a neighbor who was a squid in the Carter years. He stated how he missed the Navy and eight hour days and weekends off, good chow with nobody fucking with ya. Didn’t I miss that?
He did not believe when I told him the truth of Grunt life. Weeks turning into months in the field, C-rats or MREs most meals, two or three hours sleep per day, bathing and shaving with cold water from a steel pot (I don’t know how they bathe with Kevlar helmets now) and hump, hump, hump and hump a 100+ lb rucksack. Best job I ever had.
Tony did some research and all he had to say was he was glad he joined the Navy. He got to sail around the world in the beautiful ocean shitting all over Marine life.
I’m paying for that now. Damn near falling apart. But I’m happy and optimistic for the Dawgs future.

As much as I enjoyed it, it was time time to go. I have mad respect for anyone that can spend 20-35 years doing that. That goes for all you civilians putting on a tie every day also. That was where I headed as an RA officer. An office job behaving as the gentleman I was raised to be. I never wanted the discipline it takes to succeed in that environment. I liked being an independent asshole that could say, “Fuck this shit! I’m going somewhere else.”
After twenty years of dealing with the vagaries of .gov lettered agencies I finally said that despicable phrase that ain’t a Ranger word.

While gender dysphoria is real and trans-activists and the Woke have made it impossible for psychologists and psychiatrists to even attempt to treat people, especially children, who are suffering from this because to them their activism and ideology is more important than anyone’s mental health, no, not all trans people are suffering from mental illness.

While you’ll never hear me say “gender is fluid” or there are “78 genders” or any of the other ideologically-fueled soft-science bullshit that doesn’t have one medical or scientific bonafide behind it, there is room to acknowledge that for the people who are trans, being trans is somewhat analogous to a spectrum. Not a spectrum of mental illness, but a spectrum in how someone’s brain is wired either neurologically or chemically to make that person not view themselves as their biological sex in large or small ways.

The biggest problem with your belief and the beliefs of trans-activists and the Woke who will cancel and ruin the lives of any doctor or psychologist who try to treat trans people who are really suffering mentally is that all of you create a stigma around being trans or having gender dysphoria that only hurts people. It never helps.

Trans people are the subset of human beings who have the highest suicide rate, and the Woke lie to us and tell us it’s because they can’t or didn’t transition or whatever, but then we see that the suicides occur in a higher rate from those currently transitioning or even post-op because the hormones and gender reassignment surgeries didn’t “fix” them like the trans-activists and Woke people promised them it would. What would help these people the most is dealing with their gender dysphoria if that is what they have as opposed to a need to transition, but again, the Woke have done so much damage to the kinds of mental health professionals who would’ve helped these people that there are too few or maybe even none who are willing to handle that any more.

We need to be more understanding, not less. Less stigmatizing, not more.

But right now it’s one of the least-treated serious diagnoses there is because trans-activists, the Woke, academia, and the media will go after and ruin their lives, in part because for so long most people looked-upon ALL trans people as having a mental disorder and not just those with gender dysphoria. So in the face of one kind of ignorance they enforce another kind of ignorance, and people are dying.

That is what ideology does, on both sides.

(Sorry, Senator, can you remove my duplicate comment above? Thanks)

You might be surprised to learn one of the pioneers in transgender people in sports is a UGA grad. Dawgs come in all shapes and sizes.

I play soccer. And I was pretty good (semi-pro, club-pro, ODP, and international level competition). Was I good because I had some kind of competitive advantage? Maybe at first. But after medical treatments, the overwhelming majority of those advantages are not present. And if a trans-person has the family and community support to transition earlier in life (as many do today), there is no advantage. I still had to run miles and miles, train endlessly, and learn.

I actually got to be a better soccer player during my years on women’s teams. There were women who were bigger, as fast, more purely skillful, and much more aggressive than I ever was. But I was a student of the game, and I knew how to play. I never quit.

Because of greater opportunity and investment of resources ($), by the time I ended the majority of my amateur competition, women were much better than my generation. This is the era of Title IX. It matters.

I shouldn’t have to say this to anyone who has played sports but… sports are important to trans-people, the way they are important to other kids. Being a part of a team, friendships, cooperation, confidence, etc. has alot of positive outcomes that allow trans-people to live healthier and more empowered lives. I can only guess those of you who might not care about that probably don’t know what that means anyways.

Trying to force a trans-person to play on a team not in alignment with their gender identity is cruel, degrading, and emotionally devastating. Anyone who pushes that has no heart in my book. And it’s always the “mature” parents and adults who cause the problems – 99% of the kids (unless they were raised by those parents) are just fine and understanding. Maybe we should be listening to the kids more instead of treating them as objects in political culture war games.

Finally, most people speak on this as if there is only M and F. Well, you should read up on the various intersex conditions that blow that false-hood out of the water. And as for “genders” – you might want to read up on all of the various peoples around the world who have acknowledged the diverse genders of human beings for thousands of years.

These bills being introduced are just political games to keep a certain segment of the voting public engaged while catering to a minority of ignorant, prejudiced people who really believe I’m going to hell. Don’t worry, I’ll be bringing my sunscreen and bikini.

Please be healthy and safe Dawg fans. ❤

If everything you say here is true, I will back you 100%. I just want to be sure the science supports your position. In amateur (a cynical term, I know) sports we measure the advantages gained from red-cell-enhanced blood in cycling, to hormone therapy or HGH to within the tiniest amounts, just to ensure a level laying field. On the emotional side, I can’t even imagine what that’s like. I totally salute you for wading into the debate, and for being so gracious in the manner in which you did. Much respect. And yes, Go Dawgs!

If anything I’ve wrote helps even one parent, a child, or anyone else – then its worth all of the crap that follows. And yes, everything I’ve wrote here is true – I could have actually written much more. Like how a huge crowd of friends and fellow players cheered so loudly for me to play against the Women’s German National Team, that the coach finally put me in (even though I was a guest player). 🙂 A really great memory.

Also, for those of you posting photos of people you believe “don’t fit” in the picture because of their size or whatever – doing so really says alot more about you, than it does the situation in the photo. No one in the photo can tell their stories – so it seems like you just want to create reactionary shock – a frankly dishonest way to have a conversation.

When it comes to the health and emotional well-being of children and people, don’t we owe them more than reactionary provocations? Or are some people just expendable – like a fast food wrapper – in your worlds?

So intersectionalism rewards points based on “victimhood status” and ranks groups of people on the ladder of victimhood based on how much of a “victim” they are.

So a woman is more of a victim than a white man, but less of a victim than a black man if the woman is white. Trans-people are to the Woke about as high as you can go on the ladder of victimhood, but of course, that ranking increases if they are a trans woman as opposed to a trans man, because remember, women are more a victim than men. Now, even though the Woke will tell you there’s no difference between trans women and biological women and trans men and biological men, that logic doesn’t apply to their intersectional Dogma. Trans people still retain their victimhood status.

I am not shitting you, this is literally what’s being taught in sociology and gender studies and racial studies classes across academia.

Now, this means it doesn’t matter if biological women are disadvantaged by trans women playing sports with them, because as trans women are higher on the ladder of victimhood, EQUITY demands that their wants and needs come before biological women.

This is the kind of crazy we’re up against, man.

And you know I respect you. This shit isn’t easy. There aren’t simple solutions, as tempting as they may be. I would have been in lock-step with your remarks until I watched people very close to me struggle with it. Just take my word for it as a father, it’s not easy for people struggling with these issues. Maybe our culture occasionally makes it more difficult. I’ll fully admit that. But that’s they world we live in.

Again, it’s not a matter of civil rights, because you and I would assume are in complete agreement about that aspect of being LGBTQ for likely many of the same reasons, with common decency and compassion being at the forefront.

This is an issue of where does one person’s right to play a sport as their chosen gender infringe on the rights of others who are biologically that gender.

In this specific case, the safety of all must be paramount, and the fact is no matter how much hormone therapy is done a trans woman wi always have a denser skeletal and muscular structure making them faster and stronger than biological women as well as larger respiratory capacity and heart giving them the ability to recover quicker and also process oxygen more efficiently to better engage fast twitch muschle fibers. These are biological facts. There is no disputing them. It’s not about testosterone in the blood it’s about the literal differences between biological men and biological women that come with being a sexually dimorphic species. To argue against that is lunacy.

Then after that you must consider the psychological effects of watching trans women dominate biological women in sport, setting records, and even receiving athletic scholarships at the expense of biological women. Look at what happened in CT in their high school track meets. That is what will happen if biological women are forced by our government to compete against trans women.

At some point, intersectional nonsense has to end and common sense has to take over.

Look at the arguments they make, and then look at how it is only about women competing against trans women. They never make the reverse argument because they know their arguments are bullshit. They know there still are differences between biological women and trans women, but ideology won’t allow them to admit what anyone with a few brain cells knows.

It sucks to have to say we must draw a line here, because I want people to be treated equally but in order to also treat people fairly, biological women must have a safe space where they can compete against other biological women. Where the records they set have meaning and their accomplishments are their’s alone. Common sense must win out.

I guess that’s where you and I disagree then, because at the end of the day, we have to decide should trans women have the right to force biological women to compete against them in sport which if they have the skill, the trans woman would almost certainly dominate the biological woman.

This is why Serena Williams once said she would be the 200th-ranked player on the men’s tour. She understood there are biological advantages even the strongest, fastest, best woman can’t overcome.

All we cared about was getting to second base or if the stars aligned maybe to third. And I had my share or heartbreak with that. I’m not even talking about sports. I just mean in general figuring out what what you were into. In 1950, if you were gay, you knew you had to keep that under the cone, period. But now, in a more enlightened era, but not necessarily accepting by all generations, you have to think about what Grandma will say when you introduce her to your boyfriend. And that decision can lead to heartbreak on both sides. And I’m the generation in the middle. I say, live and let live. But I’m a preachers kid. Let’s just say my views are not universally held, lol.

No, I get that. I talk to my cousin a lot about his struggles with things like his first kiss or even approaching a boy in high school in the early 90’s where if you’re not 100% certain the boy is also gay you will be outing yourself.

You assume though – that all “biological women” are the same. They are not. 1) They have different bone densities. 2) They have different levels of hormones from low testosterone to higher. 3) They have differing levels of assertiveness and comfort with physicality. 4) They have different body shapes from short and wide to tall and thin – and everything in between.

Most trans-athletes fit within those ranges, which is how the current ‘regulations’ around the sport are being made and considered. But you argue some kind of biological woman purity and uniformity that doesn’t exist. Sorry.

Like I said before – I’ve played women who were six inches taller, 50 lbs heavier, and knew how to use it. I’ve also played women in other sports who would knock you into next Sunday. Watch flat track roller derby and tell me what is “normal” for a biological woman.

And let’s not forget what this is really about. We are being asked to clutch our pearls because of a few trans-athletes who seem to stand out from others – the shock factor. But from the legislation that follows – this is about denying rights to trans-people all together, including their right to what amounts to life-saving medical care.

First it was scary gay men. Then it was scary gay weddings. Then it was scary men in dresses in the bathrooms. And now its abnormal transgender kids playing sports hurting normal kids. Okay.. okay. we get the playbook by now. ::sigh:: ❤

We began with a place of respect even though we disagree, but I guess that’s over. I won’t let you gaslight or straw man me here or anywhere, I don’t care who you are.

I never once said anything about “scary gay men” or any of that other nonsense, so stop conflating my argument with that kind of bigotry and nonsense, which is exactly what you did there at the end.

What you say about skeletal and muscular density, as well as what you ignore about respiratory and vascular system differences, is simply not true. Yes, there are biological women who may be closer to those characteristics of a man, but they are few and far between. The fact is, the vast majority of biological men, including trans women, will have those biological advantages over the vast majority of biological women. It is not bigotry or prejudice to say this, it is common sense and scientific fact.

You get to have “your truth” for you and you alone, and I respect your struggle and I would do my best to not misgender you and would always use your preferred pronouns. But your truth is also known as confirmation bias and it doesn’t change the reality of what is.

My argument is that biological women must have their own protected space to safely and fairly compete in sports with other biological women without interference from biological men and trans women, and government should never take away this space and force them to compete with biological men.

If you disagree, can disagree respectfully with that other nonsense.

        • I’m a Ronald Reagan conservative. I still love the man, in spite of the perspective of his time. I am now a father of five, two of whom are on the spectrum. Children on the spectrum are much more likely, statistically, to be non-binary from a gender point of you. And I have two. There’s not anything anyone could throw at me that I haven’t used as bullet points before. But I have lived with this with my kids as they have matured. And regardless of my preconceived notions about gender or sexuality, all I can say is it is not easy for them. We can get all blue in the face and stamp our feet, but no matter what, it’s much more difficult for them. And they often feel like pawns in the culture wars. Some of you just have to take me word for it. I’d say I wouldn’t wish it on you, but my kids have made ME a better person. They are the best thing that ever happened to me. I’m not taking a side for our purposes here, I’m just saying that for the kids involved, it is so fraught and so scary to be transparent about their sexual and gender identity, if it goes against the grain. And I’m sure I’ve screwed this up a thousand ways to people more enlightened than I. But I’m still learning. I’m a total newb. 🙂

And while I understand all of that, and even made a similar argument above to someone who said being trans is only a mental disorder, none of what you’re saying here is in conflict with the point I’m making, which is we, as a species, are sexually dimorphic, which means there are only two sexes, male and female, and there are distinct biological differences between those two sexes with the male of our species being generally stronger and faster and bigger than the female of our species. That’s the thrust of what I’m saying. I recognize that because someone is born a male doesn’t mean they can’t find themselves knowing they want to live out their life as female gendered, but even in knowing that, there will always be biological differences and we can’t ignore that simply because they may hurt people’s feelings.

Worrying about hurting trans activists feelings is keeping people with actual gender dysmorphia, who can’t simply transition to be happy and live a full life as their true self, from getting the help they need in order to be happy, and people are dying and it makes me sick. I hate the politics and the ideology of all of this, not to mention the religious nut jobs.

I care about the people. As I know you do.

                Hah! 😂🤣😂

Okay, a brokedick malingerer is a guy who’s always going to the Battalion Aid Station for bullshit reasons to get out of PT or humps or field exercises. A squad bay lawyer is a guy who will tell you every which way you can circumvent the UCMJ, but he’s always wrong.

An NCO is a Non-Commissioned Officer. That is generally the first leadership position one achieves as an enlisted man either as a Fire Team Leader or even a Squad Leader. The first NCO rank for the Marine Corps is a Corporal. Most good Marines achieve this rank somewhere between their second and third year. Shitbags never get there in their first enlistment.

A Lance Coolie is a Lance Corporal, which is the rank right before Corporal and after PFC (Private First Class). Everyone gets a promotion from Private to PFC to LCPL based on time served, but to get a promotion to CPL, you have to have the cutting score to be promoted and your cutting score is based on things like your PFT (physical fitness test) score, your annual review from your superiors, your KD (Known Distance) Range (rifle range) score and rating, and if you’ve done the required learning and tests in the Marine Corps Knowledge to be able to be promoted.

Now, good Marines can have their rank reduced or have their cutting scores reduced if they’ve made stupid mistakes and get sent up for NJP (non-judicial punishment) which is punishment for non-court martialable offenses. Minor in Possession of alcohol is usually the big one here. I had a bunch of guys get taken down for that. Anyway, when you go up for NJP you bypass your Company Commander and go to battalion, which is headed up by a either a Full Bird (Colonel) or Half Bird (Lt. Col.), which is itself a weird nickname because a Lt. Col has a Silver Leaf Cluster not a bird, but anyway.

                Hope that helps!

I think it’s invaluable experience, not just for the discipline but to grasp chain of command and what freedom costs. I’m 45 with a bum leg, which branch would take me now lol? I do have a law degree but who cares. I think there’s a part of every man who wonders if they could have cut it. Such a short season in life when that is an option and I respect the hell out of those who answered the call.
