Boom.

But, “something something I’m a redshirt freshman. I’m not playing…”

  1. The under appreciation of how slick what Kirby pulled off really irks me (and not you, you been on it). I mean, he went and got one of the best DB coaches to fill a need, that would also pull a DB to fill a need, and did it like he was walking and chewing gum and rubbing his head and belly at the same time while on the phone with a recruit.

How on earth we can’t shatter the glass ceiling for a while, i have no idea, but i think when that damn breaks, its going to be a big flood.

Yep. Just a matter of time.

It seems to me that when CMR was around we were great when we had a qb but would get tripped up by some other deficit.

With Kirby I think exceptional qb play has been the missing piece. Until JT we’ve had very good to piss poor, but never exceptional qb play. Hopefully with JT, Beck, Brock and Stockton lined up, that position will continue to be an asset and with it big prizes.

Not sure we’d have ended up without the big trophy under Kirby with a Greene, DJ, Stafford or a Murray out there.

Of course the wtf special teams trick plays haven’t helped much either. Hopefully Kirby has gotten that shit out of his system.

Less than stellar performance from the OC may have been the missing piece when Fromm was QB.

          A tough year for him….

There was a pretty consistent pattern of when we lost with Fromm.

If he threw more than 30, we lost. Every time. 0-6. With both Cheney and Coley.

We only lost one other game. Fromm’s first loss as a starter: 2017 vs. Auburn: 40-17.

Not sure there is an OC on the planet that was getting us W that day…

            24 & 5 as a starter, not bad.

But I think for the most part, it was his receivers (last year). Wrong routes, dropped balls and etc. The opposing teams had no fear of the pass.

Have to research it, but don’t believe the offense was built for the “30” passes or more.

We also had some issues with the play calling (whoever was doing that).

Nonetheless, good leader & good college QB. Hopes he makes it in the pros, but could have used another year IMO.

            Thinks Kirby has learned.

I think there was a reason the offense wasn’t built around the qb.

Its the same reason that he was taken in the fifth round.

Its the same reason we got a W with JT with 8 yards rushing. Some guys can carry an offense. Some cannot carry an offense.

That’s right, Greg. Kirby has learned and will be better for it. He has a reset, a do-over every year. Fromm? Ain’t no reset. He blew his chance at greatness on the gridiron if it was ever possible. Who is giving these young, talented men such bad advice and why do they listen?

Who you ask – family and friends and agents with their eyes on the big $$$$$$$$
Some these young men come from far less than middle class families and are easily swayed but fast talking folks.

OCs plural. Or maybe CKS had them handcuffed. Queue the x files theme. We will never know….

Part of the reason it gets overlooked is probably beachside Saban is bringing in NFL head coaches to be his new assistants.

      • Georgia fans posted more and commented more about losing a player than gaining a player. I wasn’t talking about Saban. I am talking about our own fans that have a hard time being exciting about pretty awesome things.

That might be a thought provoking reader poll. What will have the bigger impact on Georgia’s 2021 season: Losing Pickens or gaining Smith? Given the depth or lack thereof at each position group I’d lean toward gaining Smith being the bigger deal.

To be fair to fans I saw a good but of chatter about both. That makes sense to me because even casual Georgia fans know Pickens but they probably don’t watch much WVU football. As good as Smith is there isn’t much reason for anyone to know him outside of the Big 12… yet. 😏

I’d say gaining Smith, no question. Losing Pickens hurts, but the WR group still remains a strength. Gaining Smith lifts-up our least-experienced position group. Now, that doesn’t mean I would’ve traded one for the other, but gaining Smith is far more important than losing Pickens.

Totally agree Chuck. If Kirby ever gets that first NC everything else becomes easier. Think recruiting is good now. Imagine what Kirby could do with a NC ring earned at UGA. The media becomes a tailwind instead of the head wind it is now for Georgia football.

Brenton Cox, a former 5-star who played like a me-first freshman during the 2018 season and like garbage in the Sugar Bowl transferring to Floriduh after telling his coach to go fuck himself gets all the play last year, and he has one or two good games, but is a major issue in the ‘turds worst defense in decades because he doesn’t set the edge and play the run. People conveniently forget when they talk about “THE PORTAL MASTER” “stealing” him from Georgia, that Kirby actually kicked Cox off the team (for the previously-mentioned alteration with Lanning) before he entered the portal. Funny how that happens.

Sideshow Dan the Clown is overrated as a head coach, and even with my issues with Kirby I can admit he’s still underrated as a head coach. I don’t know about anyone else, but I’d always rather be underrated than overrated. If our coaches begin to trend in the overrated direction, we’ll have real problems on our hands.

More like if you read what I say and don’t assume what I mean, a different picture tends to emerge.

There are specific areas where I’m critical of Kirby and will continue to be, but in the overall picture, given the crap he takes from the media (like the fake punt) that doesn’t have anything to do with my specific issues with him, he’s underrated. That’s not an untenable position to take.

You have to admit that the fake punt was pretty bad. Like among the most wtfs ever in football history. You’d have to dig pretty deep to find dumber big moment brain fart than that.

And I’d be more forgiving (maybe) if it hadn’t been for the fake fg run to Rodrigo and the onside kick vs. USC.

CKS perfectly timed a fake punt vs. TCU (I think that was the first one) and every one since has been a disaster.

This is THE area that I think CKS is most deserving of critiques.

Hey Greg, you’re a Damn Good Dawg and I like you. I don’t know anything of your background and very little of Corch’s. But if you go on Youtube and spend three minutes listening to GK Ending Final Ep 7 you’ll gain an appreciation of where he’s from and how well he actually comports himself compared here to what he’s fully capable of.

        The jarhead muthafuka.

Funny how things work out hindsight being so clear. If the ball was snapped ASAP as the play was designed the fake pump works. I’ve watched the replay over and over run it quick before Bama reacts and the play has an outstanding chance to work. Instead our substitute QB was slow. The play if covered by Bama was designed to take a time out. Instead Fields ran it into disaster. Fromm not being allowed to be on the field was Kirby’s first mistake. Kirby himself should have called timeout before the ball was snapped once the play was covered and doomed to failure by poor execution.

The fake FG with Spec’s was horrible and never had a chance.

I think that when/if we get one we will get several more. I love Fromm and was very comfortable with him as our QB. I think he made a mistake by leaving but I can’t say that he was wrong even if (or maybe because) he knew he’d have a 3rd OC in 4 years. Smith should help us a lot in the secondary but of all the positions on the field that area is the one I place the most confidence in due to Kirby and the rest of the staff. Losing Pickens is going to be tough because he’s an AJ Green type talent and there aren’t many of those guys on any roster even one like ours. I’m looking forward to G-Day and will buy a Saints jersey (I’m thinking Deuce McAllister) if the Falcons draft a QB.
