Thursday morning buffet

Nibbles from around the world of college football:

  • According to Mike Leach, Will Rogers was the first true freshman quarterback he’s worked with.
  • Here’s Athlon’s fairly milquetoast analysis of Florida’s 2021 schedule.
  • Who has coached the most seasons in Kentucky football history?
  • Roll ‘Bama Roll’s take on 2021 Georgia“The defense of course will always be elite, the running game is loaded, and if Kirby finally finds some wideouts to let JT Daniels take the top off, the Bulldogs are legit. They would actually be my favorite…if you can trust Kirby Smart 15 times in one season.”
  • Dick Vitale isn’t happy with the new NCAA transfer rule.
  • Meet former UGA player Wix Patton, who gave up football to pursue a music career.  (h/t Hunkering Hank)
  • From Chip Towers’ update on G-Day“Unfortunately, traditional tailgating still will not be allowed. Fans will be directed into designated parking lots and won’t be allowed to set up tents, grills or television sets.”  Don’t say you weren’t warned.

The fact that he couldn’t do music and football is insane. F*ck the NCAA.

x2 JDawg.I could understand if Kirby told Patton he was going to have to make a choice between music or football as one interfered with the other. For the NCAA to unilaterally force Patton to choose is the height of arrogance and indifference to his financial future. They’re gonna get their dick slapped by the courts and I’ll applaud.

It’s insane, and this petty punitive bullshit under the guise of ‘amateurism’ pisses me off. Missy Franklin should have been able to capitalize on her Olympic success in 2012 and still swim collegiate. It’s a once in a lifetime opportunity. Same with hot rod and his specs- I’m sure warty Parker could’ve done something with him.

  2. No tents, grills, or tvs? Son, that IS traditional old school tailgating. Let me tell you how they used to park us nose to tail in the old Stegeman lot.

“if you can trust Kirby Smart 15 times in one season”. I hate it, but I kinda respect that burn.

Pay no mind to Dukie Vitale. Jay Bilas is the voice we should listen to.

The fact RBR doesn’t know if we have receivers makes me question their credibility.

Who needs a tent, grill or TV? An old table cloth laid across the hood of a big ol Luxury Barge…with a bucket or two of chicken….drinks of choice, tailgate on. Some of y’all make it too complicated.

“At least this time, the Gators will enjoy home-field advantage. It’s also possible this could be the first of two meetings with the Tide.” – LOL, yeah, that will happen if they agree to a scrimmage out in the parking lot after the first game.

Stoops is in the perfect spot. After they beat the Gators this fall, KY will build a statue of him. He’ll be a legend averaging 8 wins a season.
