This isn’t a political post, although it’s a post about politics.
Most of y’all know that Herschel Walker is considering entering the 2022 Senate race in this state, but has yet to make up his mind about it. Here’s a CNN piece about how his decision is affecting the Republican primary this early on. But, again, that’s not what this post is about.
It’s about what Randy Evans, a longstanding Republican influencer, has to say about Walker’s contemplated run.
“He is a candidate that Trump Republicans, non-Trump Republicans, Independents, traditional Democrats, and even many partisan Democrats can agree with,” said Evans. “It is why so many Georgia voters of all persuasions have taken to quoting the famous Larry Munson who was often heard to shout, ‘Run, Herschel, run.'”
Yeah, Randy, I bet you heard Munson often shout that.
The rest of us heard “There goes Herschel!”.
Dude, some quick advice from a Georgia fan: stick to politics.

But never “Run Herschel run.” He required no prodding.
(Which reminds me. Has anyone every seen the pregame video they played before the 1982 Sugar Bowl since that night? I have distinct memory of a highlight reel with a song called “Superman” (and no not the Kinks’ song that was out around that time, it seems like it was more R&B) playing in the background. I’ve never been able to find it. I recall it being a fitting and awesome tribute.)

Jazz flute wonder Herbie Mann. I remembered the song because I had the 45 when I was a kid. I picked it out of a record bin just because of the title. I remember the Herschel clip to it also.

I don’t think debates allow physical contact yet. It would improve rating if after your times up and you keep blabbering a ring side bell dings at it’s a free for all.
You don’t need to money or heartache. Politics are better suited to professional liars not hero’s.

Well I was gonna chime in on that too but out of respect I won’t.
The only cool thing I remember about the Freemasons is they didn’t allow religion and politic discussions due to the heated table pounding involved.

Trump apparently tweeted “Run Herschel Run!” when he still had a Twitter account. But he’s a yankee, and did not misquote Munson, so I don’t have an issue with that.

The student athlete that # 34 was caused Lawrence Harry Munson to count forwards and backwards pretty much all with in a sudden change of direction, missed tackle or a massive fucking opening at the line of scrimmage…Herschel Walker has a proven track record of success, what evah he does is what he does….but i guess if you’re gonna support Herschel, “Run, Herschel run” ain’t a bad bumper sticker…

It was just crazy. Fullback dive for two on first down, 2nd & 8 on our 22 early in the first quarter and every human being on the planet knew a toss sweep was coming. The only debate was whether HW gained 6 yards, 15 yards or broke it for a TD. The buzz in the stadium was only exceeded by the roar after the play.
And his goal line leaps have NEVER been replicated. Oh you Herschel Walker!

As a younger UGA fan(I tell myself I’m still a younger UGA fan, though I’m one of the oldest fans to have not been born when Herschel Walker played at UGA), I wouldn’t have caught the idiocy of his statement.
I hope he doesn’t run because I don’t want his legacy as the greatest college running back of all time to be tarnished due to politics and polarization.
I would enjoy him challenging Warnock and the rest of the senate collectively to a push up contest.
