It was cringey when we did when Kirby came over from Bama, and it’s cringey every time anyone else does it. These may be your new coaches, but not of these are your players.

So WHY do they keep doing it?

    • ‘Cause they don’t have anything else to hang their hats on at that particular moment, I guess. So I kind of understand the impulse. The problem is it’s a bit of a double-edged sword—you tell a kid, “I coached Todd Gurley at Georgia!” I feel like he might be just as likely to say “Then hell, I’m going to Georgia” as he is to sign with you.

And, of course, if Mike Bobo says “I coached Todd Gurley at Georgia,” there’s going to be an automatic chorus of Dawg fans going “FAT LOT OF GOOD IT DID AGAINST SOUTH CAROLINA IN 2014, GENIUS…”

Not a Georgia loss goes by that I don’t miss HJS and the catharsis that came with it. So thanks for re-opening that wound from almost 7 years ago.

Don’t let the facts get in the way of the Barner narrative. BO NIX for Heisman baby!

UGA started it when they hired Vince Dooley and Erk Russell. Auburn continued it when they hired Pat Dye. Gravy-training is eternal.

Coaching staffs are now up to 11?

Also hilarious: if those bowl numbers are correct, their coaches have made bowl games in less than 54% of their seasons.

    That’s.. not great.

  5. Auburn…the muni to the south our UGA Country Club bought as an experiment to bring the social graces to the poor section of town but failed miserably. Now just a graffiti marred weed field occupied by homeless meth addicted wretches. (You think Toomers corner being a pharmacy and a buzzard circling overhead is a coincidence?) CMB and CWF are just performing charity outreach.

Eventually you must explain the facts to your red-headed, adopted bastard. But damn, FPD, that’s harsh.

      I like it!

What, Mason and Cadillac aren’t part of the ‘matching clothes to promote camaraderie’ effort?

Seems like they could’ve come up with better players than that.

If you include all offensive players under Bobo and Friend alone then Chubb, McKenzie, Ben Jones, and Chris Conley are all still in the league and better than half the guys on that list. Zach Cunningham from Vandy should be there, as well. Kellen Moore’s on there and he didn’t do anything in the league and has been out of it for four or five years.

As silly as these twitter posts are, if you’re going to do them then do them right.

Same. I think Kellen Moore is so removed from playing that he is the Cowboys OC. Weird flex by Auburn. If this coach doesn’t work out I can see them becoming something of a Tennessee-type cluster.

What’s next? Claiming credit for National Championships won by Alabama, Clemson, etc. staff members…

Using other schools players to promote your brand. Was this graphic created by Tom Crean?

Shit, somewhere Bo Jackson is feeling pain in his groin…he’s been the only gold standard reference to Auburn football in the last 30 years…and he didn’t make the cut..Bo knows coaches…why not claim Aaron Rodgers too since both he and Derek Mason were in the state of California at the same time? Not at the same schools but a town or so over. They should also post Kevin Bacon’s picture…there has to be at least 6 degrees of separation for one of the coaches

No one on the Auburn staff coached Bo Jackson. The point of the tweet is to show NFL players coached by guys currently on Auburn’s staff.

      • That wasn’t missed by me…but the tweet, as reflected by most of the posts on this blog was more than a little disingenuous given that 4 of those players played at UGA, Auburn’s oldest continuous college football rival. Normally, programs want to taunt their own alumni (I wasn’t a fan when CKS did something similar). I was using satire referring to Bo, Aaron, and Kevin Bacon, whom I’m not sure ever played college football…just to point out the absurdity of the tweet.

  12. I mean, one or TWO players would be one thing. But nearly half? And not just players, like, name brand players…

No one will ever associate Stafford or Gurley with AU in any way other than a cleat-shaped bruise on the sternum of some poor safety who tried to tackle Gurley in the open field.

It just dawned on me that the Barners are a lot like the Mia Marlins…not good a lot, but when they are they have something to crow about. Fkers

So Gurley, Stafford, and I Wynn are now billboard points for…. AU football? Maybe they’re gonna play 06 or 07 highlights if Stafford wrecking them with their Soulja Boy troll this fall. And I thought having BOOM on opposing staffs was a hoot. I won’t ever forget Bobo’s work @AU and @GT in 97, but this right here is the cringe de la cringe.

Did that second tweet count 2013 as one of the losses? Todd Gurley was injured that game so it shouldn’t count.
That, folks, is the kind of nit picky, anal, insignificant trivia . . .
At which I am a nationally recognized expert. 🙂
