Dabo, thinking outside the box

You know what?

Those aren’t half-bad ideas.

Makes one wonder who he stole the ideas from.

if they cut a game it will be one you would want to watch and they would keep the cupcakes.

I feel that cutting a game would be great for the players. If you got to 16 teams, then you could play a 10 game conference schedule and one out of conference.

I know I know but with the expanded playoffs you are going to get good games if you make the playoffs. Besides with 16 teams in a conference if you rotate properly, you will have great match ups in the regular season (More LSU, aTm, Oklahoma, Texas, and Ole Miss)

    Why bother saving the bowls?

    Like

    • Because people watch them and players want to play in them. Just because you don’t care doesn’t mean there aren’t plenty who do.

      Also, ESPN.

other than the ones that mean anything, for the most part….they suck imo.
Playoffs are what matters to most, unless your team is playing in one the other bowls.

but if they do decide to keep the bowl games, not a bad idea on the NIL compensation…..just don’t think that would be a difference maker, I just don’t think the public interest would be there, not like before.

Thinks if all this comes to fruition, they would drop the conference championship games, not a regular season game.

I get it, some do. But the bowls have been hurting for a while now……thinks more teams in the playoffs may just be the final nail.

I guess all the players who sit out the bowls don’t see the appeal you do.

From what I read, programs lose money going to the lesser bowls. The payouts aren’t enough to cover expenses.

Not bad at all. I think the “key” players won’t be swayed by $10k to risk injury over draft prep but that’s the right kind of idea. Looking more towards the big apparel, etc. contracts to fulfill that role for the “opt out” crowd. As in “you’ve declared and Nike wants you… but they also want to get that branding starred by pumping the shit out of your appearance in the sugar bowl. Signing bonus doubles if you legitimately play.”

Fcs spring game good idea however teams wont like losing the cream puff game as 1.) These are good tube up games & provide “breathers” for the newbies & long season grind. Also would lose part of the 4 game cap to maintain redshirt year eligibility for the summer/ late freshman arrivals.

Bowls- A kids’ agent will front the 10k NIL money to keep them out of the bowl to avoid injury. When they are on the doorstep of millions, not enough sponsors or money will keep em playing in a non playoff bowl no matter what.

There are so many opportunities to make more money for schools and players. I glad someone is bringing it up. I don’t like fall cupcakes last seasons all SEC schedule removed all doubt. You could charge for a spring cupcake game or end of fall camp cupcake. Play 10 regular season games making 12 opportunities to sell tickets. There’s enough bowl cash washing players should be included in the payouts.
