It’s Bo time!

Here’s a quarterback who knows the value of showing a little love to his offensive linemen:

  4. DJ,

Please go eat a big meal of Bojangles (1402 W Trade Street in Charlotte) on the night of September 3rd. You need to do that to prove that spicy fried chicken can help your athletic performance and your brand.

We’ll even be happy to pay for you and your offensive line.

Is Bojangles better than Popeyes or any of the others? I’m asking because I only allow myself to eat fried chicken a few times a year, and there’s a Popeyes place somewhat nearby, with no Bojangles anywhere around me. That said, on the rare occasion I do eat Popeyes, I typically get sick afterwards, so maybe I should stay away all together. Must be due to all that grease.

    • Popeye’s is definitely spicier. I like both, but I love Bo’s biscuits, Bo Rounds, and their vinegar cole slaw.

No it’s not any better in my opinion. If you want some great fried chicken go to Shirley’s Restaurant (Buffet) in Newnan…or a Piccadillays (one in Fayetteville). Fast food is greasy food…goes down good, comes up hard.

The chicken is a close contest imo. Where bojangles takes the lead for me is:

The seasoned fries (bonus: the fries are available with breakfast)
      All day breakfast biscuits

(Because sometimes you need the hangover food AFTER 10:30 am)

The only chicken I have ever gotten from Bojangles is the Cajun filet biscuit. No need for me to get away from that. I like Popeye’s tenders, but not nearly as much as the Bo biscuit.

I just ate some fried chicken from Nashville-style Hattie B.’s while driving through Tennessee, and apparently they have one in ATL as well as Memphis. Go there if you can, it’s phenomenal. The real best chicken sandwich ever.

          • Hattie B’s is great. Some people try to talk shit on it here in Nashville because it’s not the OG (Prince’s), but it is by far the most consistent product. Great sides, too.

True to what you’re saying, I knew Prince’s was the original, but driving from Morristown to Little Rock, I wanted something right off 40, and got a sandwich from Hattie B.’s that was so got-damn good that I stopped there again in Memphis (instead of going to Central BBQ!) and got another to try the next level up in heat. It was just as good. I have no regrets. 🙂

        • Back in the day when I was driving from Raleigh to Charlotte for work, I would drive through Bojangles for a Cajun filet biscuit, Bo Rounds, and a coffee (or sweet tea). It made that drive a lot more palatable early on a Tuesday morning.

3rd, you have my undying pity….you only eat fried chieken a “few” times a year? You ain’t from around here are you boy? If you have to go out for your minimalist eating of fried chicken and Popeye’s upsets your tummy, then go to KFC and ask for their regular chicken…it’s blah enough even for your poor tummy. Gee! What ever possessed you to even come on a Georgia blog?
