Fresh meat

Steve Spurrier welcomes one of the SEC’s newest members as only Steve Spurrier can.

Hey, Longhorns, the sooner you learn he’s a dick, the better.

He was fun to hate. And I respected the fact he didn’t say the sun was in his eyes or throw his team under the bus when you actually did beat him. He said you were better and moved on. He was a sportsman. The SEC got less fun when he left Florida and it got more fun when he came back to South Carolina. These clowns like Mullen who try to be Spurrier are cheap imposters. The genuine article knew how to make things fun.

I totally agree. Hated him when he was on the opposing sideline, but respected his ability and his candor. And his candor has always seemed to manifest itself in pretty humorous ways. I loved when he was at South Carolina and they would show him on the practice fields shirtless and drinking Coors Light tall boys.

          I don’t miss him. Glad he’s gone.

Entertaining at times. Whiny/bitchy as well.

I prefer the pre-Spurrier days when coaches took the blame for the losses, credited the players for the wins and always respected the opponent. I thought much was lost when being mouthy and arrogant became acceptable in a head football coach.

I prefer class and dignity personally.

Spurrier had a deep seated, life long hatred for Georgia and he put a few beatings on us. But he is often hilarious and if you needed a colorful quote he was your guy. The game needs characters like him and he is missed. Few coaches are willing to be as candid today.

They can’t win the SEC West with Bama there….wait…..Bama is moving to the East?….well there’s still Auburn…..er…..Auburn’s going to the East too you say?….OK, I get it! We’re creating a division that Texas CAN win and that’s the real incentive for the Horns to move. But no….They still have to get past OU…..

For the reasons you set out I can’t see them making a West and having it by default be OU, LSU or UTs division to lose. I think they will get creative and we might see some kind of Legends and Leaders nonsense that makes as much geographic sense as the old NL West.

The East wouldn’t be any better. Tenn is moribund, I don’t think AU will be any kind of regular contender, that leaves UGA, BAMA or the Turds

Spurrier’s like several guys I’ve known in my life. When I was competing with them, I couldn’t stand them, but as the years go by I look back and realize they weren’t so bad. If I run into them I will gladly buy them a beer.

I hate that son of bitch with every bone in my body. He has never recovered from Bill Stanfill and Co. kicking his ass in Jacksonville. The fact that he “hung fifty” on UGA in Sanford Stadium on us in 1995, with a double reverse flee flicker type play still makes me grind my teeth. And don’t forget, Kirby was on the field and beat on that play. I hope, with all my heart that there is another option (should have been 2017) were we can score 50 with a last few minute gimick against them, And After, when Kirby is asked about bad sportsmanship, he can refer to the Old Ball Sack. Screw him and the horse he road in on. He is a call complete ass hole. Will forever hate him and Florida. GO dogs.

      Dear Mary,
Knowing you have read from the postings above, I am here to defend both sides of that fucking asshole. Not only is he a dick…he is a DICKHEAD, having full knowledge that he hung half a hundred on UGA football with fucking intent…FUCK THAT MOTHER FUCKER….good/respectable coaches don’t, ’97 felt good (my heart knew he’d get us)…running him from carolina just ain’t good enough, Mutha’ Fucker wants to run his mouth, thats all he’s got now, memories in an empty void…. don’t want any harm to come to him…I would probably have a coronary if I ever see a photo of a real gator chasing his dead ass on a golf course of his choice the same way MR.s Stanfill and Patton chased that ass in ’66… After the game Spurrier admitted the Georgia pressure had been formidable but he also cited the wind as a factor….Wind my ass…#FTMF today and forevah….

      • I wish I could like this 1000 times…damn skippy…some people love his little quips…not me, fuck him and his TN hills accent…glad CMR assisted in breaking the old ball sack’s spirit and made him quit USC mid-season…to me he will always be a quitter, and as munch as he has run his sasshole, knowing he capitulated, brings me joy.

I don’t know, they got fed a pretty steady diet of beatings from Switzer and Stoops. LOL.

He’s obnoxious, entertaining, brutally honest, and a master of his craft who beat my team more than I care to admit. He’s the perfect target for an ass-whipping if he’s on the other sideline, and I’m thrilled we were the ones to retire him. However, I prefer his brand to the Nick Saban or Urban Meyer brand of coaching any day, and college football is better with a Spurrier than without.

He’s yelling “Fresh Fish” like from Shawshank. Who gets the first winning record in SEC games only …Riley or Sark?

Riley for sure if he hasn’t left for the NFL assuming that their talent level remains similar over next four years (or less if the Big XII implodes before 2025). If the SEC remains two divisions, the LSU OU game could become the biggest annual contest in the West.

Hilarious to see commenters here hate the OBC for his vitriol while claiming to prefer class. Yet when provided an opportunity with playpen topic, they showed none on their own.

I was in the Gator Bowl when Stanfill et all kicked Spurrier’s ass all over the field, then I was in Sanford Stadium when he gave us some love, too. I got no time to hate Spurrier, got waaaaaayyyyy too many other folks what deserve my attention.
