PS:Always thought the heavy horn upbeat “Get Ready” would’ve been a great Dawgs creating a beautiful Turnover rift from The Redcoats. Especially if they brought back the 70’s Bass in the stands.
Bring in the crowd chorus of “Get Ready cause here I (we) come!!”
Rare Earth’s claim to fame was being the first white group signed to Motown Records. They had a couple of big hits along the way, including “Get Ready”, which was a cover of a Smokey Robinson song.
The album version clocked in at over 21 minutes, so we’re not going there; however, they did release a live version as a single, which ran a far more manageable 2:46 in length.

Great choice for a new in stadium Turnover tradition song. I’m all for trying to improve the game experience especially including the Redcoat band.

In the summer of 1971, me and my friends wore out a Rare Earth 8 track, and also a Guess Who 8 track. Those were the days. 🙂

Senator, with all this talk of Texas, it seems remiss that Dusty Hill’s passing has gone unremarked in this venue.

Knowing you, I’m sure you gave it a fair shot, so I won’t try to convert you. I’ll just say that if you’re trying to appease the rest of us, there are some choice deep cuts on Tejas (which seems like the blueprint for the Meat Puppets’ entire output) and Deguello, not to mention the classics Rio Grande Mud, Tres Hombres and ZZ Top’s First Album.
For ’70s blooze boogie, they are an incredibly tight band, and Dusty was why.

Old ZZ Top is the best. Glad they made bank on the MTV stuff which was fun but they knew it was all fluff.
