Masks up!

In Charlotte, that is.

The Board of Health of Mecklenburg County – which encompasses Greater Charlotte and five other North Carolina towns — passed a mask mandate at a specially-called meeting Wednesday night. That follows by a day a mandate issued by the City of Charlotte that masks be worn at all times while indoors, regardless of an individual’s vaccination status.

Masks do not have to be worn outdoors, which includes the seating areas inside Bank of America Stadium. That’s where No. 3 Clemson and No. 5 Georgia will do battle in the Dukes Mayo Classic on Sept. 4 (7:30 p.m., ABC-TV). However, masks will have to be worn inside the concourses and all enclosed areas in the stadium.

Also, all the restaurants, bars and hotels in and around Charlotte will be requiring masks.

  1. Clemson fans will also need to bring barf bags as well when they see the embarrassment we make of their program!

So let me get this straight:
I go to a McDonalds amd there’s 10 people spread out over 8000sf inside and I wear a mask.
I go to BOA stadium with 75,000 other folks sitting asshole to elbow and I don’t have to wear a mask because it’s out doors.
    Do I have that right?
Ok. Makes sense to someone somewhere, somehow.

How do you know UGA football season is nearing? Answer: with each passing day we learn about more nice things we can’t have.

I JUST received a text from my Clemson buddy in Augusta, and he said he is hearing rumblings of the NC governor pulling the plug on the game…just reporting what I heard so don’t shoot the messenger!

    • I imagine if that’s the case, the Atlanta Sports Council will quickly find a way to move the game to the ATL.

I doubt this will come to pass. The governor lately has been letting localities make these decisions – e.g. there is no plan to implement a statewide mask mandate.

Cooper’s not going to do that unless his hospitals are at capacity. Which isn’t going to happen by Labor Day weekend.

      • gurkhadawg

Not sure what you mean. Every hospital in Augusta is at or nearing capacity. Lack of nurses is the big problem. Non urgent surgeries that require admission are being postponed. Even outpatient surgeries are being postponed due to nurses being pulled to the floor.

        • ASEF

Cooper’s governor of NC. I was responding to the suggestion he would shut down athletic events.

Only way that happens is if an area’s emergency services are basically swamped and have nothing left to handle an emergency.

          • gurkhadawg

I understand that part. What I didn’t understand is you saying hospitals wouldn’t be at capacity by Labor Day weekend. I was saying that in Augusta they are reaching capacity as we speak. I hope it’s different in Charlotte.

So disappointed, I got a bag of popcorn for this and everyone acted civilized. I knew someone was going to show out.

Why, whatever do you mean? Ranger Russ and the rest of this gang are always civilized. Even raise my pinky when I drink a beer.

Absofucknlutely. I have a sheet of paper signed by President Reagan proclaiming me as an officer and a gentleman. I’m also a self-proclaimed good judge of bad liquor, domestic beer and dirty hoors.
I know two things about the virus and its vaccine. Jack and shit. Therefore I’ll ride the pine on this discussion.

Looks like it’s only through 9/1 initially

    • That is for the city of Charlotte one, the Mecklenburg County wide one doesn’t start until August 28th for some reason and will override the city. So make sure to bring your masks!

We won’t be wearing masks in my living room as we watch the game on my big screen TV. No masks will be worn in my kitchen as I am getting snacks and drinks either.
