When they tell you it’s not about the spite…

These Alliance people sound like a bunch of arrogant fucks.

“The Big Ten, ACC and Pac-12 all sponsor a lot of sports. We all celebrated our Olympians,” the administrator said. “The SEC is so football-dominant. Their philosophy is not on the same page.”

Kinda reminds me of the time Jim Delany waxed patronizing about the SEC.

(By the way, the SEC won more medals at this past Olympics than the Big Ten and ACC.)

It isn’t just about the spite.
It’s about the envy, and the jealousy, and the money. And it’s about that hardy American perennial, the faux intellectual superiority.

Jealousy is a bitch and can cause even educated people to make stupid decisions and statements. All three of their commissioners are relatively new on the job they are clueless compared to Greg Sankey. Too bad for them it’s football that pays the bills. Maybe someone can add to their pity party by showing them just how good the SEC is at non revenue sports too.

The first chance anyone of the three have to better their own deal it’s goodbye alliance.

This reminds me of my favorite Bill Hicks bit:

“ I never got along with my dad. Kids used to come up to me and say, ‘My dad can beat up your dad.’ I’d say ‘Yeah? When?’”

We’ll see how strong the alliance is when CA politics tries to use it to influence football beyond just the PAC 12.

Wait – you mean all the Olympic sports that these ADs started shuttering left and right when ‘Rona came to town?

    Fun Fact:

The SEC had former or existing athletes win 79 Medals with 38 being Gold at the 2020 Olympics.

The Big 10 had former or existing athletes win 51 with 22 being Gold at the 2020 Olympics.

Even when they lie – they do it badly.

And will remind “everybody” that the PAC 12 tried to grab Texas and Oklahoma and a four other schools, if I remember correctly. The Big 10 “took” Maryland from the ACC. And if going to a conference is considered aggression, then the Big 10 started it all when they grabbed Penn State (an independent, but with big Northeast ties to Syracuse, Pitt, Rutgers, West Virginia, etc. – 30+ years ago.

One more reminder – the Big 12 did this to themselves! Schools were not good enough to get a new deal from Fox and they clearly did not appreciate Texas for Oklahoma (especially Oklahoma’s) weight in all of this and what they meant to the conference, until it was too late.

Whole lot of revisionist history going on here. The entire narrative has worn thin quickly.

I think the SEC has been willing to stand pat and call it a day, but keep this crap up, then why not go ahead and lock down your super league. Go get Clemson and Florida State and decide who the last two teams will be “for now”. That puts you at 20 – hold your own damn championship tournament and crown your own National Champion – screw’em.

  8. The SEC would be 3rd in the overall medal count if the schools were a country. The top Olympian by medals won this year is an SEC product. The face of Team USA this year is now an SEC freshman.

These big, overgrown babies and their temper tantrum is actually pushing me to start liking the Horns’ and Sooners’ entrance into the league. I may even start SEC chanting again.

If I were a member of a conference that had Michigan State and Larry Nasser, I don’t think I’d be saying much about celebrating Olympians.

Next you’ll tell me dum-dum Heather Dinnich will write an article on espn-dot-com parroting a bunch of high-brow statements about how its not all-about money and its about the academics too from the Penn State AD or something crazy like that….

If Mickey wants it he gets it. These clowns had better not piss off the Mouse. CBS and Fox put together now have less college football than ESPN. The battle is over we’re just left to count the bodies.

Sometimes facts aren’t important when you’re trying to make yourself feel more important than you really are…as evident by that asshat’s statement.

Shit, I hate saying this, UF had more metals than some countries….and last I saw UGA wasn’t that far behind them. So F U d-bag!

  14. redhotchilidawg

I think UGA put out a stat if the school was a country we would have been 23rd in the medal standings. No word on whether GT won any medals at the tricycle trials.
