So far, so fast

I don’t know about you, but it’s still a little jarring to see how quickly college athletic departments have embraced player compensation.

I mean, Georgia’s producing hype clips about it, for goodness sake.

Five years ago, I couldn’t imagine a more alien concept.  Weird, hunh…

So far so fast it’s hard to believe when seeing this. Also proud to see its being embraced wholeheartedly.

USC has a very slick presentation that has two 5 stars from Georgia sold. At least they were until Helton was fired. We’ll see what happens now. Point being they are claiming that “Hollywood” can make them rich and it’s working..

This is forcing Georgia to up their game. Glad to see they are doing it. Not surprised – just glad to see it.

It IS a pretty persuasive presentation they have out there:

I saw Andy in a cobalt blue Lincoln wearing a neck brace at the red light at Baldwin and South Lumpkin the afternoon before he performed at Memorial Hall. Playing the part/joke to the hilt. I actually “got” his humor; I just wasn’t particularly amused. I admired his willingness to follow through sans laughter until the end of his drawn out pranks as everybody was shaking their heads. His death being faked would’ve been the ultimate prank, which I fully expected was. He’d appear twenty years later and we’d all still be shaking our heads as he laughed for his personal enjoyment. We were simply his foil. But alas.

  7. The idea is very American. And I say that in a good way. These kids have such a small window, and so many of them wash out of the NFL. I think about so many popular Georgia players over the past two decades who deserved this and it would have been life-changing for them, and they didn’t make it in the NFL. And there are a few right now in the League barely hanging on.

There are more golfers on the PGA Tour who played in college at the University of Georgia than at any other school. Count ‘em. The number is incredible. But in that montage I didn’t see a single image of a golfer.

UGA needs to work out the use of the Georgia trademarked stuff by the athletes.
