Any narrative in a storm

You have to admire the stick-to-it-ivness of the folks at Roll ‘Bama Roll, who remain resolute in refusing to consider the possibility that Kirby Smart’s team is no worse than the second-best team in the country.  This week’s rationale is dawgrading.

Georgia has looked great the last two weeks, but that Clemson game is becoming less impressive.

Damn.  Give it a couple more weeks and somebody’s bound to say that Clemson’s the weakest team the Dawgs have faced this season.

Meanwhile, Bill Connelly’s stats are crapping all over the narrative.

Eh, no worries.  A new week always brings a new narrative.

  1. The douche bag Bammers at RBR can’t accept that Kirby has elevated the Dawgs to Bama’s level. All it takes now is for the pupil to take the teacher down. It’s like the father playing golf or tennis with his child. The Dad knows that the first time the child beats him that the wins will become less frequent until they are no more.

The dawgrading started when the coaches and AP released their polls this week. Georgia got 3 out of 62 first place AP votes and 11 of 75 coaches poll first place votes. The polls are meaningless of course. But after Clemson’s performance against Georgia Tech, voters are clearly less than impressed with Clemson than they were before the season and that is translating into how they see Georgia.

  3. Hey, the Roll Bama Roll dude did rank Georgia ahead of Alabama. I figured I’d see barbecue ribs rain from the sky and Danny Kanell say something intelligent before an RBR writer ever demonstrated that degree of humility.

Kanell said this morning Bama was 1, Oregon is 2, and Georgia is 3.

Dusty called him out for his bias towards the Dawgs.

Kanell is a hack. That being said, the case for Oregon isn’t a stretch three weeks into the season. Went on the road and beat Ohio State in Columbus and the win against Fresno State looks better than most thought after Fresno State beat a top 25 UCLA last weekend. Oregon’s problem, and what will affect them in the playoff discussion, is their conference. They don’t play another team currently ranked until late October (UCLA) and after that they don’t play another currently ranked team. That can change, but there not being another Pac-12 team on their schedule that is thought of a quarter of the way into the season as a top 25 team is going to hurt them.

To expound a little on that, the Pac 12 only has only one team (Oregon) that is undefeated three games into the season. Oregon’s P12 South opponents this year (UCLA, Arizona, Colorado, and Utah) are currently a combined 4-8 (2-7 leaving off UCLA) and when Oregon beats Arizona this weekend Arizona will be 0-4.

The ‘Bama crowd will continue this narrative right up until we whip their ass in Atlanta. Immediately after the game, it will flip to it took the greatest team in CFB history to finally beat us and even then took a (lucky bounce, blown call, etc) stroke of luck to beat us.

And that Bama win over mighty Miami is looking how?
The truth is that the Gumps are in frightened denial.

    • He moved ‘Bama down to fourth and acknowledged the Miami win ain’t much.

I’s speaking of Bama fans in general. The ones I have to deal with (more than a few here is W. Ga.) won’t give an inch without it having a foot of caveats (if’s and buts) attached. They’ll actually say that Georgia doesn’t play any tough teams without acknowledging that they just had to have Divine intervention to beat an SECE team. Not many Gumpers are deep thinkers. Just read the comments from the blog voters.

As far as his degradation of Alabama’s standing, I wonder if Saban put a bug in his ear to do that. Either that, or he knows Saban will approve of his message.

Yeah. While Georgia is getting dawgraded with how Clemson is looking, Miami is looking far worse. A narrow escape from losing to App State and then getting punked by Michigan State. Miami looks really bad, King is now hurt to some degree, and Diaz is coaching for his job.

klempzen was ranked/rated on September 4th for some reason, where they are now or in 6 weeks means noda, choppin’ wood and scoring 40 plus per week while the UGA “D” walk’s the walk into December is the elite plan…as UGA football rolls on and gets bigger than huge, the friggin’ media won’t be able to stand it…

Once you get past the “Hit Dawg”…
They were a little rougher in self reflection than they were on us…
“Alabama has been soft up front, error-prone, never adjusted to a two-play scheme, went into a complete shell when it got the lead. Worse, it is among the nation’s least explosive teams; on Saturday, it appeared to be out of its depth as it was outcoached for 45 minutes by Dan Mullen and a very pedestrian (for Florida) Gator team.
“it” is as close to saying St. Nick as they evidently can bring themselves…

RBR was, is and will continue to be terrible.

On a semi-related note, is Michigan actually good this year? Like, good enough to finally beat Ohio State and make the playoff?

He did give Auburn an indirect backhanded compliment rating Penn State No. 1, but still stays in that comfortable hubris oeurve.

When Kirby beats Bama it will be fun to listen to the Bama fan base start talking about him as a suitable replacement for Nick when he retires. Until then he’ll get no real respect from them. That behavior is particular to primitive cultures. Roll Trogs Roll!

    • The Bammers can talk all they want about Kirby returning to T-town after Saban retires (assuming Kirby is the one to knock him off). I don’t think Mary Beth Smart is leaving her home in the Five Points area along with their place at the lake. I also don’t believe Kirby will even take the call because if things go the way we hope where Bama does come calling, he’ll say he’s doing fine financially, thank you very much.
