Top-ten match up, College GameDay and this:
I'm excited to call the high noon collision of @ArkRazorbacks @UGAAthletics between the hedges Saturday! We rarely get a chance to call an #SEC regular season game. @KirkHerbstreit @sportsiren

Just another lazy nooner between undefeated top 10 cross-divisional SEC opponents.

With Kirby calling for an elite fan base Athens will not sleep Friday night. The fans will be ready . This is the first true test of the season.

How long before Kirbs calls for the “elite” broadcast team…

I hope so, but I’m not sold on the student section being packed and ready to go.

The student section filled an hour early for SC. I think the student will show out,

That was for a 7 pm kick. I’ve rarely seen the student section packed out for a noon start. I really want to be wrong on Saturday.

I haven’t been to a game in a few years. It’s parents weekend at my daughters sorority and we got 3 tickets in the 600 section. Bought a parking pass at Legion and it cost more than the 3 tickets combined.

Man, ESPN sure is trying to go all-out to make up for their fuck-up of making this a noon game, aren’t they?
It’s almost like it just would have been easier to CHANGE THE TIME OF THE GAME!!!
Dicks.

ESPN only had three time slots this week: noon, 6 and 9. None of those are exactly primo.

FWIW, reports indicate Fox has been getting some traction on their pregame show by putting it where their nooner game is. Those painting this as doom and gloom for ESPN miss what a big lead-in gameday will be for the game – you, me and 99% of the folks here don’t think that sort of thing should matter because we’re hardcorers, but it apparently makes a difference to the semi-casual fan…

I have a few family/friends who still watch GameDay. Don’t get me wrong, I used to watch that morning-killing shite, but that was many kids/homes/wives ago (well, honestly just one wife, but sometimes it feels like I’m married to Sybil). I’ll catch the celebrity picks at the end, those can be fun, but the rest is so much mind-numbing noise. I’d rather get everything done for the day before noon and then park my happy ass on the couch.
I’ll probably make an exception this weekend. I’ll pull it up on youtubeTV @ 9AM, pause it, and then fast-forward through most the mess 10 minutes before the game starts.

ESPNU has three time slots this week. Noon, 4 (South Florida and SMU), and the colossal 7:30 PM matchup between Vandy and UConn. The noon games in the SEC have always been seen as less than optimal. The SEC and B1G are not the same in this regard. I have a hard time believing that there aren’t people in the office in Bristol wondering who in the F thought it was a good idea to have Georgia and Arkansas at noon and Vandy and UConn at 7:30 PM right in the prime time of football watching in the southeast.

What are the logistics of getting the losing 1992 Citrus Bowl QB from Myers Quad to the Sanford box in short order?

They’re doing the last hour “between the hedges,” according to Rece Davis.

Kirk never picks the game he’s calling – he’s an impartial journolist after all – so he doesn’t have to be on-set when the picks are made… My guess would be between a Tom Rinaldi segment bracketed by two commercial breaks before the picks start, they could get him off the set and to the booth pretty easily…

Luckily, Tom Rinaldi is now peddling his schlock on Fox so your tissues are safe this weekend.

7 minutes… because it took about 13 to get from my bed to english class and that’s about double.

So, would a “Mark Richt has lost control of SEC Kickoff Times” sign be a good one?

I am thinking a “Blutarsky for Senator” sign would go over better with this crowd…

This has the feeling of an”try out” for when ESPN has full control of the SEC television package.
I don’t like being anyone’s guinea pig, but doesn’t it feel like that?
I think we can look forward to SEC Triple Headers on ESPN at noon, 3:30, and 7:30 (or maybe 4 and 8), with a new paradigm going forward, especially if this Game Day and nook start goes well.

Yep. Huge mistake giving the whole package to ESPN. But, it’s more money, so…
I hope they at least worked out a deal where the bottom line is removed from SEC games (they didn’t, I’m sure) but there’s little more annoying than the screen real estate wasted on ESPN’s score/bottomline/advert. I noticed that their NFL broadcasts don’t come with that shit ton of distracton.

Funny. When I am watching a Georgia game I had the scroll/adverts at the bottom. When I am watching a game that Georgia is not playing in I love the scroll to keep up with everything else going on in the world of college football.

This is what people aren’t getting. They knew what they were doing. And they were really hoping for Arky to upset A&M. This game isn’t being relegated to a noon start on SEC network alternative with the C team announcing. It’s on the mothership, with their premiere broadcast team, led in by Gameday. ESPN is going all out to raise the profile of their noon broadcast. They want to dominate the time slot. Like 79dawg said above, Fox is gaining traction here. This will be the model when they take over all SEC broadcasts. Big games at noon, 3:30-4, and prime time on the mothership.

It’s going to help them a lot that Wisky lost to the Irish. That Michigan-Wisconsin game doesn’t look so appetizing now.

And SEC just released that the noon ESPN and 3:30 CBS time slots for 9th will be Auburn/Georgia and Ole Miss/Arkansas. So potentially for Georgia, noon, noon, and 11 AM central start times. How special.
