An Auburn-CFP note (but not the one you’re thinking)

It may turn out to be a minor point, but Pat Forde notes something about this week’s opponent that may be worth filing in the back of our heads:

Something else to keep in mind, if we progress toward any kind of résumé contest that involves Georgia, Alabama and Penn State: All three will have played Auburn. The Nittany Lions beat the Tigers 28–20 at home in September; the Bulldogs visit them this week; and the Crimson Tide plays at their ancient rival Nov. 27. Results against that common opponent could influence perceptions of the three.

I could see that coming into play if all three finish the regular season with one loss.  Otherwise, probably not much to see here.

Note to the committee and yankee big 10 lovers…It is not going to look good for penn state when the away dawgs beat the barn by two TD’s with the mailman. By the time the elephants play the barn, it won’t really matter.
Mr Tindall will be a heat seeking missile for sweet tea nix.

It will be more of a perception issue for Penn State than for us and Alabama. They very well might need Auburn to play well in the SEC games.

So, if I’m reading this correctly, what you are suggesting is that if at all possible, beat the living shit out of them. I can live with that.

Don’t GAS about the status of pedi-state, the bammers are who we thought they are (they’ll beat the tigles by one more point then UGA football does this weekend)…dropping a giant sized UGA football napalm style ass whipping on the prettiest little cesspool will give the barner hc a true “Welcome to the party pal”…

Between Michigan, Wisconsin and OSU and PSU, have always found Penn State fans the most enjoyable, followed by Wisconsin. So if I had to chose a team to be in, it would be Penn State. With that said, I think they are a very good team. Not a great team and certainly not an elite team. There is at least one loss there, maybe two. Whoever comes out of the Big 10 this year will get knocked out and at least as of today, actually think Michigan might be the biggest threat.

Penn State just needs to worry about Iowa.

We can’t lose either. An idle team outside the top 5 will slide past us if we lose in Atlanta. On the other hand, we’ll need to beat Bama twice.

I fully expect Penn State to lose to Iowa Saturday, and when everything settles this year, one-loss Ohio State will win the league and make the playoff. Unless Oklahoma keeps eking out wins.

State Penn held on to beat the Barners at home. When we win in dominate fashion as an away game, how is Danny Kanell going to Dawgrade us then. You will have had a common opponent to compare and contrast State Penn hangs on to win at home and we score a dominate win in the road (with most likely the backup QB). Somehow he will find a way to minimize our dominate win without a doubt.

Please don’t waste your time worrying what ole butt-hurt Danny boy cares or thinks. Just enjoy the fact that with every Dawg win, his miserable existence gets a little more miserable.

Not wasting my time at all. I am enjoying listening to him twist himself in knots trying to minimize what we’re doing. He hates the SEC with a passion and UGA particularly. The better UGA does the more he does contortions to try and explain it. His co host Dusty Dvoracek is on the UGA band wagon (Picked them to win it all before the season started and is sticking with it publicly) and calls him out out on his UGA hatred every change he gets. This just makes old Danny more frustrated and puts an even bigger smile on my face.

I don’t care for most of the SEC either…so I guess I have something in common with DK…

I hate the rest of of the SEC as well but can admit when you have a good team. Bama is a good team. FL and LSU have had great teams. This year we are in that great category. The problem with Kanell is that if you’re in the SEC ESPECIALLY UGA, then he will always look for a reason that you’re not what EVERYONE ELSE says you are. Now BIG 10, ACC, BIG 12, PAC 12…. he can hardly be seen without a brown spot on the tip of his nose from kissing their ass. We can absolutely destroy Auburn by 50 points on Saturday and he’ll find some excuse as to why State Penn’s victory over them was more impressive. Perfect example is Texas – Arkansas. Arkansas absolutely manhandled the Horns and we destroyed Arkansas. The narrative now is Arkansas is not that good, but Texas is a GREAT team on the rise that just had an off day with their now deposed starting QB while never recognizing what the DAWGS did with a back up QB. DAWGRADING at its fines.

I do enjoy listening to their show in the mornings on the ride in to work for that exact reason.

    • Danny’s SEC hatred has actually become so outrageous that I enjoy it now.

He is just embarrassing himself daily on his morning radio show and his co-host just openly mocks him for it. It is good stuff.

ESPN U on SiriusXM if you are curious. I usually catch it between 7:40-8:10am.

  9. I think sometime during the 2nd quarter on Sat they will have to pull Bo as an intervention because our defense will be tossing him around like a semi deflated beach ball…and by the time they play Bama, the war tigers will have their backup starting at QB…so it won’t be an apples to apples comparison

Let’s just win and worry about this later. Auburn always plays us tough at home and Kirby’s Achilles heel is sec west road games (2-4, blowout losses to ole miss in 2016, Auburn 2017 and Alabama 2020). This team should win comfortably if it plays like it’s normal self but comparing common opponents before you’ve played them is a little premature.
