Florida, when you’ve lost Pat Dooley…

Oof.

When you say “Georgia Southern”, you’ve said it all.

Now they’ve gone from screaming about wanting Joey Freshwater because he will restore their “swagger” to wanting Uncle Mel because they need a guy who can teach their players how to play football.

    • Uncle Mel gave up 500+ yards passing to Purdue yesterday. Junior can’t handle the pressure of a big-time SEC job.

      Feel free, Hogtown Handbags.

And yet either one would be an upgrade over Sideshow Dan.

Uncle Mel’s team was projected to finish at or near the bottom of the B10 this season. I think he would do well with the talent he could accumulate in Gainesville. We best hope he doesn’t want that gig.

I feel the same way about Tucker. Also, I don’t think he would come within 10 miles of the job. The SEC is a buzz saw. He can exceed expectations AND get a Big10 paycheck without difficulty.

        • Maybe. His team was fortunate to knock off Michigan. They were beaten soundly by Purdue. They gave up 30+ to Western Kentucky. I’m not sold because he hasn’t stayed anywhere long enough to say whether he can produce results. If you’re a defensive-oriented head coach and you can’t get the defense to play beyond its talent, I question whether you can make it happen.

I’m conflicted. The only time I ever want Flarda to win is against the Hillbillies (such is my loathing for those inbred, gap-toothed yokels). But, I want Mullen to stick around and drive the ditch lizards further underground.

Yeah, I guess we can’t have it both ways. At least MuLLLLen is going out in a blaze of “glory”. Losing 40-17 to a QB that couldn’t even beat out the QB coach at SC is something I never thought I’d see.

  5. Wow, just imagine how bad things would be if Mullen weren’t one of the most brilliant strategists in the country.

I really hate Mullen’s offense – looks like high school football. Fake steps by the QB – give me a break – offensive genius – fuck that shit.

That little two step thing is something he picked from that wake board skill set and thought it to be coooool enough to share with FU qb room…say good bye to towel boy, hog town is a soon to be ex address…#FTMF

I know Florida’s had problems of late, but I’ll have to say I never, ever saw them losing to South Carolina this year. Squeaking out an embarrassing 7- to 10-point win? I could definitely see that. And I figured if they just squeaked by in that fashion Dan might not make it out of the regular season as head coach. Shit, now? Now that they lost to the fucking GAMECOCKS by as much as they were projected to win it by? If they fired that bastard at noon today it wouldn’t surprise me. And it’d serve him right. Fucking weirdo. He’s lost everybody now, from the fourth-string long snapper to the most casual pickup truck alumni.

  7. Staples was conflicted last night on his podcast. Do you fire MuLLLLet now with no guarantee of a replacement who can bring them back? Do you keep him and trust him to make the changes?

The bottom line is there was no moral victory to find in that box of horse manure that was that game last night.

UF needs to concede that the rest of the season is in the crapper and they need to can him now to get a jump on finding a new HC. The ole ball sack is available as an interim.

    I have questions…….

When does “SEC shorts” come out?
Isn’t Danny boy one of the highest paid coaches in the league?
When is his press conference tomorrow?

Can the gator message board please redo the “Would you trade Mullen for Smart?” poll again please. I want to see how far into the stages of grief they are. Pre GA~FL game was clearly denial.

Oh you’re dang right it was. They were saying that if they started Richardson they would not only win but win in a blowout. That’s how out of touch they were and how much “‘cause gators” was still in their heads. They were caught totally by surprise in Jacksonville and are only just now realizing that things have not only changed but changed dramatically.

      Zero,
also, redo the “house of cards” mantra they kept chanting trying to convince themselves that muLLLLet’s coaching philosophy of being lazy on the recruiting trail will be OK for their beloved ditch lizard program!!

In the new reality of 21st century college football the Handbags need to fire Mullen now so they can get in front of those who will be looking for a new HC after the season is over. Follow the Southern Call approach. Personally I hate that because it’s low and classless but then we are talking about Florida here.

That game was glorious. SCAR just lined up and whipped their ass! It was classic SEC “who wants it more”, and UF wanted none of it!

There seems to be a trend forming that teams are ruined after playing UGA. Our D is crushing their souls.

The entire 2nd half Mullen looked like a loser waiting on the phone call from his wife who just found his girlfriend’s period blood stains on their sheets.

Meanwhile, Shane Beamer gave the longest postgame interview I’ve ever seen. I like that dude.

‘I like Dan Mullen as a coach …
definitely an offensive genius, but I also agree with you in who else do you get?’

Literally, anyone at this point could get that program headed in a better direction.

Some of them will apparently cling to that offensive genius moniker until you remove it from their cold, dead hands. His scoring offenses have finished 9, 10, 9, 9, 10, 2, 5, 7, 7, 5, 3, 2, 8 (currently) in the SEC, for the record. His YPP rankings aren’t anything to write home about either.

But he’s doing it with inferior talent because he sucks at recruiting and is the only SEC coach who has convinced himself that it doesn’t matter. Therein lies his genius. Seems like stupidity to me, but he’s the one making more than $7.5 mil a year.
