Holy crap.
Total second-half drives this season with a scoring margin under +14:
4T. Bama, Coastal and Pitt — 33
3. WKU — 31
2. Cincinnati — 28
1. Georgia — 6SIX. SIX ALL YEAR. AND FIVE WERE AGAINST CLEMSON.

I repeat: holy crap!

Yet further evidence we haven’t played nobody PAAAWWWLLL!

Well, but this is why I feel the offense really hasn’t faced much pressure in rather a long time and how they do in those circumstances is still an open question. That’s different than contending we haven’t played anybody, btw. We have…we just kicked their ass so badly they looked like nobody.

There has been some pressure. Both AU and UT had a lead on us in the 1st half. Both crumbled under our D and not being able to keep up with our offense.
We just have so many weapons and Monken knows how to deploy them. It’s damn hard to keep us out of the endzone.

See, I have a little of what Gastr1 says, but then I realize that our defense is otherworldly. Then I calm back down.
Talking heads on TV were saying Bama needed to throw it 40 times to put pressure on our defense and I remember 10RC doing just that. Even had a guy with 200 yards receiving. But I also remember our offense with a 90 yard TD drive just before half to basically put away the game.
I like our chances this Saturday.

My inner Munson is also screaming but I look at how we have performed all season and I calm down as well. I really feel this could be a blowout for us.
If Young attempts 40 passes they are all going to have to be thrown in 2 seconds or less. I just don’t see him sitting back in the pocket for longer than that picking us apart. Their OL hasn’t held up to anyone this year. Now they are getting ready to have to block our front 7? Yikes!!

Was the other our first second-half drive vs Kentucky?

Yes. First drive.

I refuse to believe that the east was so bad that people will look at this data point and think “yeah, well, look who they played”.
Also, that benchmark was made by a total team effort, not just the D.
Also, I’m pretty sure Clemson’s D is/was better than Alabama’s. That first game was odd but their D came to play and both offenses were off kilter for various reasons, injuries being ours.

rigger92- I agree. I think we were also very very cautious because we didn’t really know what Clemson could do on offense.
I don’t know how Saturday will play out but we have one hell of a team this year and I think everyone will see that sooner or later if they haven’t already.

The Auburn team that everyone was falling all over themselves about after they nearly beat Alabama never had a chance against Georgia. But, something something ain’t played anybody.

The respective results of the four games against common opponents faced by both UGA and Bama are one of the biggest reasons for my confidence this year. Of the four (UF, Auburn, Arkansas, and UT), UT was the only one they actually dominated on the scoreboard, and even that score is misleading, since UT stayed within a touchdown until Bama pulled away in the 4th quarter.
I mean, transitive properties and “any given Saturday” and all that, but when it comes right down to it, our boys should really be able to pound the crap out of them.

Yeah, common opponents is pure rat poison to me. I lap it up. Especially considering we kicked Tennessee’s ass just as bad, but on the road. Auburn was full strength and we stomped them. Arkansas wasn’t even a game. Florida did out gain us, but we didn’t give up the moral victory like Bama did.

If Georgia doesn’t see its shadow, then the Dawgs win by two touchdowns at least. I’m concerned about the crimson helmet factor, but we’re the better team this year. I’d much rather have the overall better football team and have to worry about the Saban bogeyman than have it the other way around.

I believe this is the amount of drives UGA has attempted during the second half when the score was within 14. In other words, we are blowing people out by the second half by more than 2 scores except for 6 total drives. ALL YEAR!

Is that the infamous “game control” that we heard so much about?

Manic Doug: Yeah, bitch!
Depressive Doug: Oh, god, we’ve barely been tested at any point since opening weekend. We’ve gotten too used to cruising! At the first sign of adversity we’re going to fold like a cheap suit!

Wow – this is a total flashback! Those were such great segments to your posts back in the day! And totally agree that this is every UGA’s fan’s internal struggle.

I loved the Manic/Depressive schtick from “Hey Jenny Slater”. Pretty sure none of us would mind if you indulged yourself here in the commentariat. Long as Bluto don’t care…

I love the ‘aint played nobody’ argument bc, if i were to agree with that, this is exactly what you do to 12 nobodys.
a lot of teams ‘aint play nobody’ year in and year out but they don’t seem to get the results that we have this season. hmm

Alabama is going to be added to that list of nobodies Saturday evening. We are going to win so comfortably the national narrative will be that Alabama is just down this year so OF COURSE #1 Georgia, the far and away best team in college football, was going to cruise through the seccg without a challenge.

That’s exactly what I’ve been thinking/saying. And if we win Saturday and do that same thing to, say, OK State or ND, and then Michigan or Cincinnati, the narrative will be that we had a cakewalk, never had to play anyone good, etc. It’s predictable, and beyond our control. And I will still buy about $10,000 worth of NC merchandise

I don’t give a shit what the national narrative is. Win 3 more games and we are 15-0, narrative be damned.
