Let’s face it, at some point in time this season, almost all of us have been in the place Matt Hinton describes.
By sheer volume, Georgia’s starting quarterback has generated more angst over the past 5 years than any other position in college football.
On some level, in fact, you could say the ever-evolving situation behind center also serves as a window into the emotional trajectory of the fan base. To be a Dawgs fan is to have staked out a position on Jacob Eason vs. Jake Fromm, and Jake Fromm vs. Justin Fields, and on whether either question was ever actually up for debate. It’s to have watched Fields fulfill his potential elsewhere, prized transfer come and go without taking a snap, and another prized transfer languish on the sideline for reasons no one can seem to explain. At the same, it’s to have watched Alabama and LSU ride juiced-up spread offenses to their umpteenth national titles while Georgia’s championship drought rolled on into its fourth decade.
It’s to look year after year at arguably the deepest, most talented roster in the game, listen to the punchlines about coming up short when it really counts, and be constantly reminded: The only thing missing is an elite quarterback.
And in 2021, specifically, it’s to watch as the weeks have rolled by, the wins have racked up, and the most important position on the field has been seized by the most unlikely candidate of them all – a former walk-on with no NFL prospects, who for most of his career in Athens has had “career backup” written all over him – and to ask yourself: Is this The Guy? This guy?
If you’re not asking that question, it’s probably because, like me, you trust Todd Monken. And if you are today, then it’s probably because of this:
The fact is, the lingering questions about Bennett’s ceiling against Playoff-caliber defenses can’t be addressed until he actually steps on the field against a Playoff-caliber defense. The closest approximations he’s faced so far this season have yielded his best performance (vs. Auburn) and his worst (vs. Florida), both in games the defense had well in hand from start to finish. (Bennett didn’t play in the opener against Clemson, which memorably held Georgia’s offense to 3 points with Daniels at the helm and has continued to field an elite defense in the meantime.) Keeping pace with Alabama, an explosive attack that is actually capable of putting some points on the board against any defense, will be an entirely different challenge.
No, this isn’t the 2020 edition of Alabama, but today’s opponent is easily the best team, overall, Georgia has faced this season to date. Remember, they’re the only other SEC team besides Georgia with a net ypp figure north of 2.0. Chopped liver, they ain’t. So, asking how Stetson will fare today is a fair question, except I wouldn’t phrase it as a matter of keeping pace with an explosive offense as much as asking how he’ll respond if the situation develops into the first close second half he’s experienced all year. (Last year didn’t go well, but, again, this Georgia team isn’t playing that ‘Bama team, so who cares?)
If that’s my first question about today’s game, here’s my second: what happens on third down? According to SECStatCat’s data, it’s going to be the most interesting down of the game, no matter who has the ball, but the reasons are virtually opposite.
For ‘Bama, it’s a money down out of sheer necessity.
From the very get-go this fall, Alabama’s O-line has generated poor rushing cushion, failed to maintain clean pockets, and logged a good deal of misfires. In fact, Alabama has been so bad in some respects that even lowly Vanderbilt has preferable figures. Excluding non-conference and garbage time snaps, the Tide will come to Atlanta with the SEC’s worst rush yard before contact average (1.2), 2nd-worst Pressure Rate (37.7%), 3rd-worst HAVOC Rate (37.8%), and 5th-worst Sack Rate (7.4%). Over a fifth of their designed rush attempts have faced initial contact behind the line of scrimmage, and a seventh of their plays can be constituted as “broken”.
These bumblings have mostly blundered Alabama’s early down efforts. With nearly a third of their plays suffering from a form of havoc, the Tide represents the SEC’s median in both Success Rate and Yards/Play in league play. The middling production has resulted in the conference’s 4th-lowest Early Down Conversion Rate — meaning Alabama relies heavily on 3rd downs to sustain drives. Setting yourself up for regular do-or-die opportunities is normally not recommended.
Luckily for them, their Young Gun has been one of the nation’s best at exhibiting value on the money down. Within SEC play, the Tide’s such 51% Passing Success Rate holds a five point gap over the next team in line. Over a sixth of their throws have gained at least 20 yards. When including scrambles, 12 carries have notched at least ten yards. This translates to a conference-best 23.4% Explosive Play Rate and 8.3 Yards/Play. Considering the offensive line has allowed a deplorable 57% Pressure and HAVOC Rate in these spots, that’s undeniably remarkable. The data backs the Good, Ole-Fashioned Eye Test.
While StatCat doesn’t recommend the dangerous habit of banking on the do or die down, the Tide have no choice but to ride its hot hand.
They really have no choice, but it’s wild how much their offense transforms from first and second downs to third. And it has worked: “The Tide’s potency and pre-snap activity joins the squad’s collective dip on the statsheet, but no offense averaged more yards/game in SEC play this season than Alabama; and they did average over 37 points/game in those contests.” Can Lanning and Smart dial up something that consistently undercuts that, or at least slows it down significantly?
Georgia, as I hinted before, is the polar opposite: dominant on first and second down, not so much on third. Unfortunately, that starts with Bennett.
Despite the excellent positioning, Georgia isn’t perfect. And a good deal falls on the shoulders of its sprite QB. I’ll have more on Bennett later. But even though his play has improved, he still has glaring issues carrying over from last year. Bennett throws an uncatchable attempt on a fifth of his chances and has an Interceptable Pass Rate well below the conference mean. Though he started the season on pace to be the one of the most accurate passers targeting beyond ten yard downfield ever, he finished with a Depth Adjusted Accuracy% under 50% when facing conference opponents. For the most part, his results hardly can be challenged, but his process hints of a potential downturn facing a Nick Saban defense.
Moreover, Bennett has simply been a bad passer on 3rd down. Though he has managed to enhance his Success Rate to where he is no longer the conference floor and has a handful of nice scrambles, SB4 has only converted ten of his 33 such chances against conference foes. He has been just as likely to throw an uncatchable pass in these spots. And despite being gifted a top5 Pressure Rate, his 3rd Down Yards/Attempt (5.1) and Depth Adjusted Accuracy% (40.8%) are bottom5 in league play. Additionally, his Interceptable Pass Rate climbs into the double-digits. Among SECers with at least a dozen attempts, no one has a lower average distance to gain than his 6.9 figure. That paired with a relatively average 50% Rushing Success Rate on the money down has seen 62% of UGA’s latter down plays end with negative EPA, which ranks 98th per cfp-graphs.com. This is a massive problem for Georgia and an incredible opportunity for the Tide to potentially upend this offense.
So, if third down is one to embrace for Alabama, it’s one to avoid if you’re Georgia. And this may very well be where Todd Monken has painted his masterpiece this season: Georgia is outstanding at avoiding third down on offense.
Potent and consistent, UGA has crushed it on first and second downs behind a 0.26 EPA/play — good for 2nd in the country. The Dawgs have only logged nine 3-and-Outs in meaningful minutes against SEC defenses. Naturally, these ingredients have helped the Dawgs sport the gold medal in TD Rate (8.3%), Points/Drive (4.6), and Scoring Drive Rate (62.2%). The latter is 18 points better than the next clip in line.
Can Saban and Golding dial up something that takes Monken out of his comfort zone? Nobody’s really done that since Clemson’s secondary came out in soft coverage in the opener.
… getting Georgia into those situations will be awfully tough. Over 77% of their conversions occur on first or second down. Still against the meat of their schedule, the Dawgs’ worst inefficiency was heightened.
According to the SP+, Georgia’s hardest defensive opponents have been Clemson (3), Auburn (20), Arkansas (32), Kentucky, (34), and Tennessee (35). In these games, Georgia’s offense was solid but not overly spectacular. The Dawgs posted a 48% Success Rate and scored on nearly 60% of its drives while maintaining its wonderful levels of limiting defensive disruption. They experienced a dip in big runs, but potent passing was comparable to their overall numbers. However, these are the matchups where UGA struggled the most to maintain drives. Even omitting the Clemson game, over a quarter of its drives in these games resulted in a 3-and-Out. Only about a quarter of 3rd downs through the air were converted, which hammers the point home that those instances will be quite important in Atlanta.
All told, I’m finding that SSC’s conclusion mirrors my own about today:
I think Alabama wins if it can continue its 3rd down magic and capture at least four explosive gains through the air. Bryce Young has been sensational under duress and has copious clutch plays during his first year as a starter. With how ineffective the Crimson Tide’s down-to-down run game has been in SEC play, it’s hard to imagine their O-Line miraculously figuring it out against one of the most immovable fronts in the history of the sport. And Young will have to make some plays and pad his Hesiman profile with some splashes. Nickel and diming could be the path. But if Alabama can figure out a way to turn four passes into four scoring chances, they might have a shot at the upset.
Again Stetson Bennett has shown to be an unsteady passer under pressure and on 3rd downs. Now, he gets to face Nick Saban. Assuming this matchup plays out, the Tide’s defense should be able to make things competitive. However, that’s assuming Alabama doesn’t get absolutely worked on early downs. Still with how prone Bennett is to turnover-worthy plays, safe money is on Alabama’s defense coming away with a takeaway or two. If they can survive on first and second, and thrive on third, there’s a chance the Tide pulls this off.
I think Georgia wins if it can control the line of scrimmage and make sure Stetson Bennett doesn’t screw it up. Look, the Bulldogs’ path to victory is a lot more straightforward than Alabama’s. Even for the team with the best rush yard before contact average, steering the Tide’s front isn’t an easy assignment. Bennett will have to make some throws. But, it’s hard imagining the gameplan calling for him to attempt over 24 passes. If the Bulldogs can limit his involvement and SB4 can find occasional situational wins, their rock solid defense presumably should have them in good position to secure the No. 1 seed.
If things get rocky for the Bulldogs, the question is: How long is Bennett’s leash? Though Alabama has made some postseason switches at QB in recent memory, what would it take for JT Daniels to lead the offense? His numbers are inflated but still incredibly satisfying. A strong defensive performance would make that thought moot. But don’t think Georgia can skate by Nick Saban if they have to overly rely on Bennett.
It’s weird to think a description of Alabama’s day boils down to saying they have a legitimate puncher’s chance to win the game, but without an effective running game and consistent play from their o-line, along with their ILBs being susceptible in pass coverage (and, boy, is it fun to watch the other team be the one that has trouble handling throws to tight ends), I don’t see a path to victory for them that doesn’t involve monster games from their two best players and a few big hits in the passing game. Mind you, Alabama is certainly capable of all that.
For Georgia, it’s all about whether Alabama can knock them out of the comfortable groove they’ve been in ever since the season opener. Given that Alabama seems to have more flaws to exploit than does Georgia, I think that’s going to be tough, especially if they walk out there with the same mental approach Smart has instilled in them all season.
But that’s the GOAT on the other sideline. I think Georgia wins today, but I’m far less certain they clear the spread. The thing is, I couldn’t care less about the spread. If the confetti drops on a winning Georgia team today, I’m all good.
Where are your head and heart at today?

I’m 47 years old. I have faint memories of 1980, but I have deep, forever-etched-in-my-psyche memories of 81 and 82. For every Rose Bowl moment that similarly exists for the Dawgs, memories of Pitt, Penn State, Marino, Conley, 2nd and 26, backup quarterbacks…those resonate more than those moments of glory. As Napoleon said, all glory is fleeting.
So it goes.
I’m reminded today of moments in life where you pinch yourself because you can’t believe that the present is the reality. The birth of a child that is a spitting image of you. A promotion that you absolutely earned and crushed in the interviews. A game winning, buzzer beater, clutch 3 that you absolutely Kobe’d…in an intramural game. Those moments are precious, timeless…yet they don’t resonate like the losses, the lessons learned the hard way. Losing a parent. Losing a game. Losing a spouse. Those feelings are more visceral and the senses from those memories are as present as the current surroundings and can be recalled in the snap of a finger, whether we like it or not.
So it goes.
More than anything else, though, losses cause us to change. We reflect, we grow, we continue to move forward. We renew ourselves to be better parents, or bosses, or spouses, based on those tangible memories. It shapes us, more so than our victories in life. I can personally lament my losses in life, but I recognize that some of them continue to challenge me, and most of them made me a better person today.
In short, I’m glad I have experienced pain, loss, and failure. They shape the future successes more than I knew at the time, and I’m better for it.
So it goes.
Here we are today…Dawgnation collectively thinking not about statistical advantages or comparisons to common opponents, but recalling those burned in the brain memories of 1981. 1982. 2002 at Florida. 2012. 2017. 2018. 2020. Hurts. Tua. 2nd and 26. No matter how dominating we’ve been throughout the year, we are all thinking the same thing…what will this year’s disappointment feel like? What soul crushing moment do we get today?
Why?
Mindset. It’s huge. It’s crippling sometimes. But it’s reality.
So it goes.
But like I said, losses cause us to grow. If there’s one thing in our favor in having a Georgia boy as the HC, it’s that he knows those feelings as well. He’s lived in it, played in it, coached in it. Rather than lick wounds and lament, he’s continued to grow. The roster issues in past match ups have been addressed. The offensive woes have been addressed. Hell, he’s even gone psy-ops this year and focused on mental health and mindset, and you can see it in the fight of this team, the way that they play the same down by three or up by thirty.
This team is different.
Time is a flat circle. I’d like to say that we’ve gone on a long 40 year journey to arrive back where we belong, but I’m not a fortune teller. I don’t know what’s happening tonight and don’t even fathom making a prediction. Like most of you, I’m on pins and needles and Munsoning ever since I woke up this morning. Until the clock hits 00 and Georgia has more points than Alabama, I likely won’t stop this worry.
So it goes.
There was a time we referred to our collective failure in big games as The Georgia Way. There was likewise a time that it was called “Clemsoning”. There was a time that it looked like Harbaugh would never beat the Suckeyes. Or that anyone but Oklahoma would win the Big XII. Or that an outside the Group of Five team would be in the CFP.
Yet, here we are.
We have a walk on leading the #1 team in the nation at quarterback, ahead of a heralded QB1 that came out of five star stock. A three star dlineman that conducts the band on senior day and has been in the conversation for Heisman. A lockdown defense that has shattered records along the way, even when pundits keep saying “yeah, but you haven’t played (insert decent offensive team here)”. A head coach that everyone said was just the by product of a great head coach and wouldn’t be able to reproduce what was created at his former dynasty destination.
Mindset.
This team just seems different. No one freaks out. Every athlete that steps onto that field seems cooler than a polar bear’s toenails, and that doesn’t come naturally. Those visceral memories of failure aren’t just absorbed by fans…the players, the coaches, and especially Kirby, all learned them and they have all grown as a result. They know the lessons. They know the script. And today, I firmly believe they know exactly what to do.
Here’s to failure. A cheers, if you will, to lessons learned. To 2nd and 26. To 2012. To reflection, and hustling every day and every year to build up to success by taking the lumps and committing to being better.
To Commit to the G.
To Keep on Chopping.
To rewrite history, and to make “The Georgia Way” mean something else.
If there is one thing I remember about 1980, it wasn’t Herschel, or Dooley, or even Notre Dame.
Erk. Junkyard Dawgs. It was that our defense made your momma hurt when they hit you. Fumbles, sacks, interceptions. Pain. The man with a bloodied forehead had those Dawgs ready to run through a Fort Knox strength wall and to get back up and keep doing it until you hit gold.
If anything else, advanced stats and all that, that’s where I see time is a flat circle the most. The Junkyard Dawgs are alive an well in 2021.
I imagine Erk is up there smiling. A tall boy in one hand, a cigar in the other. Maybe a little blood tricking from his head. And thinking…”and the mule they came in here on”.
Go Dawgs.

We find out today if Stetson can get it done. His interceptable passes have been glaring this year and I have continued to hound on the fact that a better team with better skill players would have made some of those pics. If Bama can make him have to win it, I like our chances a lot less. If the run game is working and Bama can’t tee off on SBIV, we should win this game.
I will say that we have let a few of our more capable opponents drive right down the field and score points on the first drive. It would be so helpful if we can avoid that today, but Kirby does everything he can to limit explosive plays. If Young can be patient and make short throws, I’m scared that is exactly what will happen.
Now I’m done with all this stupid evaluating. I’m usually wrong anyway. 😁
Bama will bring their A game. If we do the same, we win. B game makes it a toss up. C game will have us prepping for them again. TB would be proud.

I trust Stetson about as far as I could throw him. I’m so over “understands the offense” Georgia QBs. As someone here pointed out weeks ago, starting him over Daniels the past few weeks has been essentially playing not to lose. I hope I’m wrong, of course. Or if things go really well, our QB won’t even matter.

I hope Gary and Brad are talking about what they are on Thanksgiving by the end of the third quarter snd in the fourth UGA has Beck or Vandagriff handing off to their Human Victory Cigar (too bad Prather left).
It’s all about Stetson today. Saban will make him beat them. If SBIV is mediocre to good UGA wins maybe comfortably. If he’s bad then then everyone’s nuts get tight and people start drinking during commercial breaks.

It is my opinion that one of the laziest takes in football is, “whichever QB plays best wins.” This isn’t meant to call anyone out, it’s just a general observation. Kirby has, yet again, proven that the other 21 players and the coaching staffs on each side of the ball have a say in whether that QB plays better.
I know Stetson isn’t Tom Brady, but this game has a significant number of similarities to the latest Super Bowl. The Chiefs absolutely could’ve beat the Bucs if the TB defense had a bad game, and the O-line couldn’t protect Brady, and the secondary had an uncharacteristically bad day defending the Chiefs receivers, and if Tampa was ineffective running the ball.
All that COULD happen today. But that’s a lot of “ifs”.
All that to say, Young may go 31-40 for 400 yds today and still be in a game where it’s close or Bama is down late in the fourth.

If Kirby Smart was starting the better QB instead of his teacher’s pet, Georgia would actually be really good on third down.
It may not matter with this defense, but Stetson Bennett should not be starting. He should not have been the starter the last 5 games since Daniels was cleared, and I hope to God it doesn’t come back to haunt us.
I hope Bennett can be the Buck Belue; the QB we win it all despite of not because of. Nothing would make me happier than to beat Bama by one point and beat ND/OSU by one point and beat Michigan by one point.
I just don’t think Bennett is the guy who can do that. He’s a front-runner whose mistakes, misreads, and missed reads are masked by a great defense and a generational talent at TE.
We’ll see. Hope I’m wrong.

I trust Monken is making the call on the starting QB at this point. If the $#!+ hits the fan, we lose today, and Monken leaves in protest, I may come around to your line of thinking. This is the only thing that comes to mind when I think of the QB situation:

We’ll see EE. Like I said, I hope I’m wrong, I truly do, but ask yourself this: Do you trust Stetson Bennett to be able to lead this team back from behind to win a game in the fourth quarter? JT Daniels has already proven he can do that against Mississippi State and Cincinnati. JT Daniels is also superb on 3rd down. One of the reasons he’s been able to lead those comebacks. He also rarely throws a bad read or misses wide open WRs as much as Bennett continues to do.
Bennett is a front runner; the guy who wins not because of anything he does, but because the defense is so damn good.
I hope I’m wrong.

My feeling all year has been like some on here. Stetson has improved, has mostly played well to great, but can he do it when it counts. I don’t know, neither do you. Unfortunately, neither do Kirby or Monken. He’s prepared, he brings some intangibles, and he’s certainly earned the shot at it this year. I hope he succeeds with all my heart. I don’t think there is a better story in all of sports this year than a former walk-on leading this team to glory after 40 years in the wilderness. The little (literally) engine that could! I’m worried about Saban though. He really is the GOAT and he’s not going quietly. Who is their back up QB?
When we have the ball Stetson just needs to be patient. I think he can d that. Monken is going to call a ton of 3 TE sets, and I doubt Bama has an answer for that.

YOU NEED A QB WHO CAN GO BLOW FOR BLOW WITH HIM.
That has NEVER been Stetson Bennett.

We did go blow for blow until Alabama’s last possession of the first half, and Patrick Mahomes couldn’t have led us to a score taking out last possession of the first half.

No we didn’t. He badly missed two make-blow third down passes that led to punts that led to our gassed D giving up two TDs.

Go Iowa. If it wins there will be just 2 1 loss teams, if I recall correctly.
Alabama, UT San Antonio and UGA, plus undefeated Cincinnati.
ESPN doesn’t want UTSA and Cincinnati in the playoff so a UM loss assures we will be a. 2 or 3 seed. I figure Alabama would be the 1st seed and ESPN won’t want a rematch in the semifinals.

I forgot Notre Dame. Ig has 1 loss. That means 3 one loss teams, one being UTSA if Michigan loses, 4 one loss teams if Michigan w.
If Michigan wins you have our body of work against 2 loss Baylor or 2 loss Wake or Pitt or 3 loss Utah.

Well, that sucked. THIS is why I’m always concerned about every opponent. I always want to win, but I’m also realistic enough to see our flaws that can be exploited (secondary).
On to the playoffs! (Yes, we should be in as we are 12-1 and our only loss was to the #3 team – a better resume than all but Cincy).

A therapeutic buttwhip. Thanks. I was in a bulldog haze for months. It was all a dream. Defense, right.

This was all part of Kirby’s master plan. Allow Bama to win in order to ensure they made the playoffs so the Dawgs would have an easy win instead of having to face two of those powerhouse yankee teams. 😉
That’s the only way I can explain that sorry ass defensive scheme.
Keep your chin up, y’all. The season ain’t over.

How we left their receivers open, wide open… I just don’t know.

Yes it is. If we get the unfortunate opportunity for redemption against Alabama we will lose again. And this year will be forever remembered as the year Bama kicked our asses twice. I’d rather not make the final four. Georgia does not believe they can beat Alabama. The problem is between their ears.

Look y’all, you can hate on Corch. And I don’t like his approach. But Kirby did
Play it safe on defense.
Stick with a known quantity who threw two interceptions (could’ve been two pick sixes).
He has a point with Bennett. Bennett, when under pressure, makes BAD decisions. We thought he had improved this year but ir was just he hasn’t really been under pressure.

I can’t begin to understand what Kirby and Lanning were thinking. Take a defense like this and neuter it by not applying pressure?! Bama has a one dimensional offense…Young in the pocket throwing quick slants, crosses or deep corners to 1 and 8. No secrets. They simply aren’t that good so Saban just dialed-in the best he had. Kiffen could have called a better defensive scheme. We are big, fast and apply pressure. So instead we chose to sit back and contain a QB who refuses to run but loves time in the pocket. And yes, Stetson isn’t the QB for a shootout. He was freezing in the pocket when he should have been taking off. So we have JT tanned, ready and rested…but don’t give him a shot.
Not one player is to blame for that debacle. 100% on Kirby. Wow.

I’m starting to think I just need to be done with Georgia football. The only thing we do consistently is underachieve. No matter who the coach is we always have a lot of talented players but never a great team. Georgia always plays well in the east, occasionally wins the SEC and never wins the games that count. It’s who we are. I can’t change the fact that I’m an alumni. And 1980 was my senior year. But even then we effed it up by letting Herschel go to work for Donald effing Trump. And we never have a great quarterback. We sometimes have a good or even very good quarterback but never a great quarterback. Not even one in my lifetime and I’m 64. I’m tired of it. I quit the NFL a long time ago. It might be time to quit Georgia. I will still watch some college football every now and then but I have better things to do than be constantly disappointed by the Bulldogs.

Trump bought the New Jersey Generals after Herschel was on the team. That’s the most likely reason Trump bought the Generals.
Man, I don’t know what to tell you. I hate losing more than I like winning. It sucks. But Paul, if this regular season didn’t bring you joy then Georgia football never will again. Beating the shit out of all our old nemesissisisisisis was pure pleasure to me. Yeah, I wanted the Dawgs to finish 15-0 and win the SEC and NC. They can still win the NC and we can hopefully watch Daniels lead the team over Bama while accomplishing that goal.
Allow me to say that if I wasn’t enjoying it I most certainly would find something better to occupy my time. Life IS too short to be miserable. 1980 was my first year on campus. 12-0 and 43-4-1 my four years and it’s been disappointment since and a great deal of fun.
It’s all perspective I reckon. I know what real loss is. Sending a man back in a body bag and continuing the mission has a way of setting your priorities straight.
It’s just a fuckn game, man. Made to be enjoyed.

Ever since 1900 UGA has had exactly 3 undefeated teams. One was 1920. We were 8-0-1, so it was not a perfect season. We were 11-0 in 1946 and 12-0 in 1980.
That means that in 98% of our season in the 20th and 21st century we have had a loss.
Despite that, we are the second most suspect program in history, so we have been really good,
Suffering a loss in a season is to be expected. Shake it off and continue to support the team just as fans have the past 122 years.

Shit, “we are the second most successful program in SEC history…” is what I thought I typed.

I texted my friend on the athletic association board and asked if a $7MM recruiter was worth it. His response was that conversations need to be had.

Milton, you are a level-headed guy. You can’t be believing that we need to make a change.
Jimmy Sexton may be the most disappointed guy after last night because he isn’t going to get a chance this year to paint his masterpiece. The carousel at the top of the profession appears to have stopped, and there will be no open job to leverage. Kirby and the staff will collect their bonuses and will get solid raises. That’s about it.
