Their 2022 recruiting class is almost non-existent…in the neighborhood of Arizona & Georgia Tech.

At least Billy Joe Shaver sang the theme one last time before they canceled my show.

I can’t imagine anybody the trolliest of message board guys is calling for that, but it’s worth noting the same argument was made when Richt was fired to hire Smart.

There was a lot of merit to that argument – look at how close we allegedly were to hiring someone like Mullen or Herman….

Fear of the unknown is not a good argument against staff changes. If someone isn’t meeting expectations, you don’t retain them just because you may get someone worse. If people were content with the state of the program under Richt, that’s another matter.

I’d agree if you and I were making personal decisions, but its different when you’re at the mercy of the AD, President, and maybe a few big boosters, all of whom are in a dick-measuring contest while trying to play poker with Jimmy Sexton – that is not generally a recipe for success, as the dumpster fires as far as the eye can see just over the horizon, show….

Bo is a somewhat better version of Will Levis…maybe. Their receivers were so awful, it’s hard to get a good read on his development last year. He’d be an upgrade some places. Just not any school that looks to be in conference or national title contention next year.

Passer rating isn’t everything, but Bo’s #s in college: 125, 124, 130
He’s always the guy on the verge of that big leap. Which never happens.
There isn’t a P5 school in the country that would take him as anything other than emergency depth.

Three things will happen in 2022: 1. Tank will be in Georgia’s backfield. 2 Harsin will be headed somewhere west of the Continental Divide after the Iron Bowl. 3. Auburn will finish last in the West.

It was rumored that Harsin badly wanted both the UW and Oregon jobs, and it all makes sense now as to why. I actually think he’s a good coach but simply is a horrible fit for the program and region. Culturally, he’s probably still in a state of shock being from Idaho/Northwest and trying to navigate the SEC.
With almost certainty, year two is when you know you either will have a successful coach on your hands long term…or one who will soon be fired. Given the state of their roster and who they’re losing, things look very bleak for Auburn next year. I simply don’t see them competing, and even getting to six wins might be a tough ask of them.

He entered a brutal division of a brutal league. TAMU has risen. LSU can only get much better. Ole Miss and Mississippi State will beat you silly if you take the day off. You end every season against Saban. Oh, and you get UGA every year in the east. Good luck.

Their prior behavior limits them to coaches who want the money more than anything else. I’m going to snicker a looooong time if Harsin spends two years there, runs them into the ground, forces them into a $15 million buyout, and walks away from the Plains with $25 mill for 24 months of work.
The economics of the profession make that a damn smart move for a certain level of P5 coach.

For UGA grads in my 70s era, Auburn is the most evil wastewater processing plant on earth. You will never hear me say anything good about them, but I have to give that football staff credit for having them ready to play Alabama, unlike……….nevermind.
