Who says there are no second acts in college football?

You just thought you’d never see Bo Nix take the field against Georgia again.

I guess his new head coach can tell him how the Dawgs defended him this season.

And just like that…

… the Great Streaming War of 2021 is over.

Gappin’: the graphic story

Come, for watching Georgia’s rise over the last decade …

… but stay for Florida’s rise and fall completely out of the graphic.

Inside the mind of Kirby Smart

Of all the hot takes in the world about why Stetson Bennett starts ahead of JT Daniels, this is certainly one of them.

As we like to say around this joint, “likely” is doing a shit ton of heavy lifting there.

UPDATE:  I guess this is meant as a clarification.

At this point, I have no idea what he’s arguing.  Although I’m not sure he does, either.

UPDATE #2:  When you’re explaining, you’re losing.

This seems like an appropriate time to consider applying the First Rule of Holes.

Today, in bidness decisions

Mississippi State will play Texas Tech in the AutoZone Liberty Bowl on Dec. 28. Bulldogs coach Mike Leach has been an outspoken critic of players skipping bowl games.

“It’s the most bizarre thing in the world to me,” he told reporters last week. “They think they’re going to have a storied 10-year NFL career and they can’t play one more college game. That’s ridiculous.”

Mississippi State All-American offensive tackle Charles Cross announced on Friday that he is opting out of the bowl game to begin preparing for the NFL draft.

ESPN’s Mel Kiper Jr. lists Cross as the second highest-rated draft-eligible tackle behind Alabama’s Evan Neal.

A redshirt sophomore, Cross was named to the All-SEC team each of the last two seasons. He started all 12 games this season and allowed only two sacks in 919 snaps.

Boy, I bet that meeting was a little awkward.

Stayin’ in Athens

Looks like Kirby’s done one solid behind the scenes recruiting job this month:

It’s been nearly three weeks since Brian Kelly stunned college football and bolted from his Notre Dame program – with the Fighting Irish still in outside contention for a College Football Playoff berth or subsequent New Year’s Six bowl bid – to take over at Southeastern Conference power LSU.

Kelly has somewhat gradually, slowly, pieced together his initial Tigers’ coaching staff, and he’s likewise made some key off-the-field moves as well.

… Multiple sources likewise told FootballScoop that Kelly had discussed the offensive coordinator position with Georgia play-caller Todd Monken, though sources said Monken has expressed a desire to remain with the Bulldogs.

Either that, or he’s simply not interested in a lateral move.  Fine by me.
