Toxic

How it started:

How it’s going:

And, yes, I get all the usual disclaimers about how a vocal group on social media doesn’t represent the fan base at large, yada, yada, yada.

I also get this:

We’re less than two weeks out from the team winning a national championship.  If Smart and the coaching staff don’t deserve the benefit of the doubt from every Georgia fan right now, when will they ever?

Somehow, I suspect the program will muddle through just fine.  Some folks need to chill or find another diversion in their lives.

It’d be nice if those were false flag operations, but types like that don’t think enough to plan that much. OTOH Techgeeks don’t have anything better to do than obsess on Georgia football.
We wouldn’t have any commenters around here who feel like those twitterjerks, WOULD WE? 😉

Here’s what I have to say about it. “SEC commissioner Greg Sankey looked out upon a Sanford Stadium nearly filled to capacity on Saturday with fans there to toast Georgia football’s 2021 title team.

“I have been to any number of national championship celebrations, but I have never been in a stadium full on a January on a Saturday to celebrate with this level of energy,” said Sankey, who has seen five SEC teams win the football national title in his seven seasons as commissioner.

Georgia going 41 years between national titles brought out a crowd of approximately 90,000-plus in the stadium and even more outside that came for the parade that preceded it.” GO DAWGS!

The lack of class and animosity toward these people is disgusting. I’m personally disappointed we won’t get to see JT have a year to himself. I liked his game. And that’s all I’ll say about it, because obviously Bennett is an outstanding player who made incredible plays to win the natty at the most pressured moments, and we’ll do very well next year with him at QB again.

This is why we can’t have nice things.. Not even a week after as good a celebration in a nearly full stadium, not 2 weeks from ending a 41 year drought, this errant bullshit. I know people who’d rather be right than happy, but this is about as wrong ss you can get.

I’d bet a kidney nobody is guaranteed a starting job this fall. Not Stet, not BVG or Gunner. Show up, compete, earn it. I am thrilled Stet is coming back, if that makes him happy. If he isn’t QB1, I expect him to be a good guy to roll out in a jam. If the young guys are as good as advertised, and cab handle pressure, and one of them starts, fine if Stet can best them out and gives us the best chance to win, fine. Kirby has earned my absolute trust. The whiners now are magnified by social media beyond their actual import, but FTMF.

Just sickening man. I can’t believe that Georgia fans, after winning a national championship, would still want an NFL caliber qb running the offense going forward. Just unbelievable really.

Mandel’s stats + the 2021 season basically prove Bennett is just as good as any other qb in the country.

And to suggest that receivers might not want to play with Stetson simply because perhaps the best returning receiver just hopped in the portal?!?

    Well I nevah!!!

Do you think that JT is a can’t miss NFL QB? I hope for his sake he is but I foresee something in between Aaron Murray and Jacob Eason for him in the future. I hope I am wrong.

I have no idea, I just don’t get why half of Georgia’s fan base is surprised that there are irrational people on twitter.

JT probably never becomes an NFL starter if I had to guess, but he’ll probably get a shot and make a roster. I think Eason is an apt comparison.

That’s why I’ve avoided the dawgvent for years and will never go back. Alleged Georgia fans bashing players makes me sick.

I’ve very happy that if SBIV is playing his final year it’s at Georgia. Never did I ever expect to be able to say he was the offensive MVP of our National Championship team. He certainly proved me and maybe everyone except his teammates and coaches wrong.

  9. I’m glad SBIV is coming back. I wish JT was coming back, and there would be a competition this spring. I’m really disappointed in the Burton situation. That’s the one I totally don’t get because he was getting a lot playing time and had made a bunch of plays.

On 680 this morning, Brian Finneran was saying we can’t go into next season with Stetson as the starter because we have all these 4 and 5 stars behind him, and we need someone like that since the D is going to be gutted.
WTF is wrong with these people? I’d like to see JT or some of the other guys play to to see what they can do, but at this point Stetson has proven on the field (and presumably on the practice field) that he is the best option – for whatever reason, JT wasn’t able to dethrone him during the season or break, and rather than fight he’s decided to leave, which says a lot too…. NUTS!

The only angle I’d agree with him is that I don’t think we’ll be able to get by long term with so few PASS ATTEMPTS. That’s the problem. It was a thing of beauty to win the way we did this year, but I’d bet money we won’t see a defense like this for a very long time, if ever.

Stetson is fine and efficient, but the group of wide receivers saw a 5 game stretch in the middle of the season with 11, 21, 20, 19, 19 pass attempts. On the season, Alabama wideouts saw 166 more targets (i.e. pass attempts) than Georgia’s. If your top 4 receivers get 90% of those additional targets, split evenly, that’s another 37.5 chances over the season to showcase your skillset.

Again, we won. Celebrate. If you are concerned about the wide receiver room long term, this is somewhat worrisome.

UGA is a run-first team. That’s what it’s going to be. When throw a bunch, it’s generally because we HAVE to… either because the run game isn’t as good, or because the defense isn’t as good.

Still, in a year when we had the best defense UGA has seen… probably ever, and the best CFB has seen in at least a decade, we threw the 3rd most times that we have in a decade. If our run game next year is a tick up, the passing attempts may indeed come back down. We shall see.

Should we really be surprised? After all, we’re talking about something (UGA football) that people are so wrapped up in, even though they have absolutely no say or control over the program. In other words, they have screwed up priorities in life and probably aren’t all that successful overall. So it’s only natural that they would behave in such an immature, irrational fashion when news hits that they don’t like.

Of course. But my point is that anyone who is so emotionally tied to something that has no impact on their life whatsoever, and something they have absolutely no control of, should lead you to question their overall maturity and purpose in life alone.

Thus, while they may be excited about the recent championship, they also will lash out and quickly become unhinged when the slightest bit of bad news comes their way as well. After all, again these people probably don’t lead the most fulfilling lives, so again we shouldn’t be surprised.

With it ending the way it did, and #13 having proven himself in the manner he did on the field, anyone who continues to dump on this kid needs their Dawg Card pulled for the 2022 season. Until kickoff in the Benz, at the very least.

I get your disclaimer disclaimer, but it’s a very important point here. I’m not on twitter (or facebook) so I don’t see a lot of this garbage. I haven’t had a single conversation in real life with a Georgia fan since getting back from Indy that was negative regarding Stet. The jackholes are going to use social media to scream into the void because they’ve got no other outlet right now, and they should be ignored.

There was a guy sitting below me who started screaming for JT during the game (towards the end of the first half), but that fool spent most of the first half facetiming with his wife instead of watching the game, so I considered the source. He was mighty quiet about the QB situation at the end of the game.

It really doesn’t matter who stays or goes, there will always be a vocal contingent and even with these folks out there talking, our fans have reached nowhere near the level of Bama fans and their stupidity.

When the season ended and folks were speculating about SBIVs future, I said then that he’d be back. Why wouldn’t he? He’s not going to the league. I doubt he’d catch on in the CFL or arena (even if he was interested), so why wouldn’t he want to come back and exhaust his eligibility? Dude loves football and this is likely his last shot.

There are a lot of very stupid, very vocal assholes in the world who always want to be right (but rarely are). They’ve always been obtrusive but social media – and Paul Finebaum – have just amplified their voices. Because celebrities (and that’s what athletes are) are open to public analysis and criticism by the nature of what they do, they attract attention from the most psychopathic of the vocal asshole contingent. Players (and sensible fans) can try to tune out the shitheels, recognizing that they are a minority of “fans,” but it’s hard when the cretins are able to make noise that’s disproportionate to their numbers.

Bud, Miller High Life, Coors, and such are what my not-obnoxious-gator-pal, Craig, calls lawnmower beers. The type you drink to quench thirst after/during hot, sweaty outdoor work. Pabst Blue Ribbon used to be considered premium beer until relegated to low tier by society, fit only for true rednecks and hipsters. But a PBR on draft in an ice cold mug with a burger in a dive bar is hard to beat. Just have to drink it before it gets warm.
I won’t drink a light beer of any kind and got to be in a mood to drink a craft beer. One of the reasons I hate Germans is warm, dark beer. Corona somehow became my go-to in the beerferator.

The people who read this blog are like the top 1% of Georgia fans both in interest and passion and there are some here who certainly have had issues with Stetson and the offense and what that does for recruiting. It is the most Georgia thing ever to get upset or happy about recruiting and the coach who is in charge of that and all other aspects less than 2 weeks from winning a national title.
I wish JT well. If he were better than Stetson he would have started over him when he returned from his injuries. I wish Burton well. If he were AJ Green we would have seen evidence of that to this point. I hope he goes somewhere and catches a lot of passes and is happy.
The Georgia team next year will be really good and won’t miss either one of these guys. I am really happy that Chris Smith, Nolan Smith, Robert Beal and whoever else stays will be here next year.

We have to enjoy it no matter what happens because frankly, it’s going to be hard to win it again in 2022 even if Tom Brady was our QB. We’re simply losing too many stars off this team. We reload this year and aim to win it in 2023 and enjoy any gravy that might come in 2022. Just my opinion based on the fact that I am just glad we finally got to the mountain top.

Safe bet that the only Arch these a-holes ever passed under was golden, and the only degree gracing their doublewide is the separation of their wife from their sister.

What if Stetson keeps improving at the rate he did in the last 12 months? Hell with what he pulled of in that last fourth qtr he might will himself taller!
    Go Stet!
Remember all the stats on how many different players caught passes in each game and how spreading it around was “great”? Apparently Burton did not share that opinion!

I don’t tolerate that disloyal shit in person and I’ll ignore it here. The ones posting that probably make everyone around them miserable and lead disjointed and lonely lives. Fuck those warped and twisted assholes.

SBIV has earned the right to come back. If he gets beat out again I hope he sticks around. Best damn backup in the nation. I’d love to see one of the young QB’s step up and display the talent to beat Stet and make those entering the portal regret that decision. An improvement at QB would make the Dawgs near unstoppable. Best of luck to those headed to the League.
    To those entering the portal?
    Well, bye.
