Proof that sniffing your own farts can cause short-term memory loss

So, there’s a Twitter thread that starts like this:

Yeah, there’s somebody missing from his list.  Somebody named “Coach Ohio”, an “Avid Buckeye fan”, steps up to fill an explanation for that particular gap.

Gee, it’s almost as if this year’s CFP never existed.

  1. I think Coach Ohio has read the Lexicon’s definition of a big game when it comes to Kirby Smart and Georgia football.

College football Twitter can be one of the places on the planet where the dumbest among us use their smartphones to remove all doubt.

Here I go again. Day is probably a great coach. If he wins a national championship then I will say that he has made it there. Thus far he’s made a big name off of winning what I believe to be a league much closer to the ACC than the SEC.
Ohio State is the most recession proof program of my lifetime. They had an era after the player punching coach up until Tressell where they came back to the pack and were maybe 1a with Michigan as 1b but otherwise they have it made. Indiana,Illinois, Michigan State, Northwestern, Maryland, Iowa, Michigan, Penn State, Wisconsin, Nebraska, Minnesota and Purdue, what a gauntlet.
I hope we get in next year as the 1 or the 4 and get a chance at the Buckeyes.

I second that assessment at the B1G & ACC’s depth of quality.
UGA was 5th in the final CFP rankings for both 2018 & 2019 (besides actually making the CFP CG in both 2017 & 2021, obviously). So Coach Ohio’s accusation of not being consistently “in contention” as much as OSU or Clemson is easily chalked up to those teams not having to face the eventual NC in their respective conference CGs.

Rivals and other big program fans 2008-2015: “Richt sucks! He’ll never win the big one!!”

Georgia then fires Richt. Their reply: “what idiots for firing a 10 win coach. Kirby is a joke. UGA is done.”

Kirby goes on a monster run and gets us very close from 2017-2020. Replies: “1980!” Kirby can’t coach.” “Wasted talent!” “1980 hahaha!”

UGA wins national title. Replies: “Bama WR hurt.” “One hit wonder.” They’ll never do it again.” Kirby will get lazy like Coach O.”

That said, honestly, all of this is really funny to me. Deep down they know…UGA is a total monster.

    • The “Kirby will get lazy like O” argument is one that flies in the face of everything the sport has said about him until now. That’s some kind of stupid.

The rest of college football knows the giant is fully awake now.

For Coach Ohio, you mention beating Michigan in the CFP was no big deal … is that the same team that dominated your Suckeyes in November? I guess that means An Ohio State University really sucked this year.

We don’t know who will be on our roster come August but I would expect nothing less of the program than 12-0 this season, SECCG appearance. Though, I am nervous about Monken leaving for some reason.

I don’t know how anyone would think the same of Clemson. The aTm and Ole Miss statement is comedy gold.

He hasn’t been paying much attention to Clemson, has he?

They remain in talent a cut above the rest of the ACC, but Venables’ departure gutted their defensive brain trust. He raided that staff mercilessly. And that was the side of the ball keeping their head above water this season.

Recruiting class was small again this season with a few stars. Traditionally, Dabo’s attacked that with loading up on 3 stars in the next class and relying on “development.” It costs him nothing in ACC play as long as he’s getting 1st round results out of his QB.

I’m half-wondering if Dabo ends up in Houston or Oakland or Jacksonville. I could see it.

Clemsons run is over. It’s 9-3, 8-4 from here on out. And it’s not because Venables left. Yes, he was good. But it’s because everyone’s Bag Men can openly operate and not have to compete with IPTAY.

I think the larger issue for Dabo is that he’s bought into his own myth. Take roster management. They’re probably 15 counters low right now? And that includes counters currently occupied by coach kids and the like? Dabo still acting like taking transfers would sully the CFB Shining City On a Hill Built By Dabo?

I mean, explain to me why guys on staff making 8 figures annually need their kids on scholarship. Pure vanity.

And Clemson football has become a project all about massaging Dabo’s ego. Don’t get me wrong, Kirby and Saban have huge egos, but they don’t turn their programs into All About Kirby/Nick.

If I had to bet $10,000 on who would win the CFP next year, I would bet on UGA. That’s my non fan opinion. Sure we lost a lot of talent, but from what I am hearing, the guys replacing them are as good or better, talent wise. That guy’s an idiot.

Ain’t about to put money on it but we did just win it WITHOUT a Heisman candidate at QB. So…. Who’s this twitter guy again?

Then you’d almost certainly lose it, which means this is completely your “fan’s opinion” because you’re ignoring:

      1) Bama’s schedule is easier
      2) Almost their entire defense is coming back, just like our’s did, with the same, no original, “unfinished business” monicker
      3) They have the best QB in the sport

Could we jump up and beat them, like they did us? Sure. But Bama is the odds on favorite to win.

How much good did the “best QB in the sport” do Bama the last time they played UGA? He was no match for the great Stetson Bennett. With the game on the line, Bennett throws a dime for the go ahead TD. With the game on the line Young throws a pick six.

And Bama’s D is going to be much better and that QB is now one year older.

You’re not being realistic if you look at both rosters and say that Georgia is the favorite to win the title, man. I’m sorry, but you’re just not. Bama is the favorite, and it makes sense that they are.

That doesn’t mean they will, but if you’re putting $10K on the Dawgs, you’re more likely to lose that money than win, and you’re talking to someone who put $100 on the Dawgs up at Cherokee the last weekend in August and won $700.

Corch, you misunderstood my comment. I didn’t say that I was going to bet 10,000 on the Dawgs to win the NC. I said if I HAD to bet on someone, it would be UGA. I think we will be better than Bama next year, Kirby is on the mutha. Like Ranger said, if I were you, I don’t believe I would be touting my analysis of GA vs Bama right now.

Yeah dude, I understood what you said perfectly, and you’re wrong. You’re not looking at this with unbiased eyes, as you claim, if you think we’re in a better place, on paper, than Bama to start 2022.

I bet on us to win the National Title this past season. I would not make that bet this coming season. Bama is the better team on paper, so I don’t really understand your “analysis” if it isn’t homer analysis.

Ok, you’re right, I’m a big GA fan. There’s no fooling you I guess. You seemed to have forgotten how wrong you were about Bennett. We can continue this conversation on Dec 1, 2022, right before the SECCG. Meanwhile, have a little faith man, we’re National Champs.

I was wrong about Bennett not being about to beat Bama. And we are National Champions for this past season. And it’s awesome. And we’re in the Five Year Zone. Nothing will change that.

However, CFB is different from year to year, and Bama is the odds on favorites to win in 2022. That’s doesn’t mean I’d root for them to do so, but if I had to put money on it, that’s the team I would.

It’s Alabama’s world and we just caught them in a weaken condition and they were young, ad nauseum. Get used to it, we are not the only ones that Dawggrade the Dawgs. Ohio State is to the B1G as Clemson is to the ACC. The only difference is that OSU usually loses a game during the season but still gets into the CFP because of ESPN and the gaggle of old OSU players employed there. The year the SEC broke it’s color barrier, the B1G was in for trouble. They had had the advantage for years because of the players from the south that wanted a chance to showcase their talent on a big stage. Now if you want to play for the Best Conference in the country you play for the SEC.

I’m just over here enjoying the irony that Ohio State couldn’t win a national championship with the 5-star, strong armed, mobile quarterback who bailed on us, and we won the natty anyway with a former walk-on who busted his ass amongst tough competition, won the job, and led us to a comeback victory in the title game.

    Suck on that, Coach Ohio.

I don’t have a problem being left off the 1st list. You can make a “reasonable” argument that Bama, CU and OSU have proven they have staying power in the CFP. Not that I’d try to make that argument, but I really don’t know how you can NOT include UGA in the 2nd group compared to the likes of Ole Miss and AM who aren’t even sniffing the SEC title game to backdoor into the CFP. That’s where the whole argument loses credibility to me. But honestly? We have a natty so I couldn’t give a rat’s ass how UGA football is viewed for the rest of my life. I’m too busy over here ordering more championship gear.

If there are 3 teams from the SEC in the CFP next year, heads will be exploding all over the college football landscape. There will be calls for congressional investigations and action. Lawsuits will be filed. End times will be upon us. The end result even years down the line will be that an SEC team will be odds on favorite to win it all even in year 2037.

Kirby hasn’t by a long shot: 2017, CFP final (tOSU #5); 2018 #5 one spot ahead of tOSU; 2019 #5 and was #4 going into SECCG; 2020 OK, sure but tOSU got the pass for only playing 6 games and getting B1G to bend all the rules for them; 2021 CFP Champs while tOSU was out of it again. Dude is high or stupid.
