Georgia closed the season with a cathartic victory over Alabama that also will serve as major motivation for the Crimson Tide this offseason. There’s no need to play the video of that game in the team facility, but don’t be surprised if it makes an appearance at some point. It has been a while since Alabama had something to prove in an offseason, but that’s where it stands.
… I can’t help but wonder what Jermaine Burton’s reaction will be watching that.

Not in portal to my knowledge. I think he will be making a decision during/after spring practice. I read the other night that we currently are over the scholarship limit, some processing is going to have to take place or some men are going to have to leave of their own volition. First-world problems…

Don’t begrudge a kid wanting to transfer for more PT but in this particular case, piss on him. Maurice Smith at least graduated at Bama and came to Athens as a grad student. Bama is. Is the new Auburn of the transfer portal.

I suppose I am the outlier here, but I don’t get the angst at Burton. He is a receiver. He catches passes. He would like to do so in the NFL, I assume, and earn millions of dollars over a long career. He is going to play with last season’s Heisman winner who averaged something like 36 attempts per game (just under 40 attempts to teams not named Southern Miss, New Mexico State, and Mercer). Stetson threw the ball more than 20 times in a game twice in the regular season (21 vs. Auburn and 29 vs. Tennessee), more than 40 times once (loss to Bama), and more than 30 once (win over Michigan). Burton averaged just over 2 catches per game (26) on 30 targets for the season. Metchie and Williams were targeted a combined 243 times in 2021. It sucks that he is going to Bama and I get that. But if he wants to play at the next level, he wants the ball thrown to him and thrown his way a lot like Metchie and Williams and Waddle and Smith before them. Metchie, Williams, and Slade Bolden are all going to be in the 2022 draft. TE Jahleel Billingsley and WR Javon Baker entered the portal. At worst he will be a projected starter and at best the number one target on a team that is the favorite to win the national championship next season with a quarterback that is already the favorite to go back-to-back as Heisman winner and number one overall pick in the 2023 draft.

Yeah, I’m with you. I hate he left, I hate it more he went to Bama, but I have a hard time hating him for doing it. We’ve got plenty of receivers and we’re going to focus on Bowers anyway (who is a better player). I don’t like that we’ll end up seeing him in Atlanta (probably), but other than that… makes sense to me.

I understand all the chatter from the fans… Look JT Daniels even stated the year before “Why recruit great receivers if you don’t throw to them” while I don’t like creating controversy for my dawgs, one can easily see that CKS has mis-steped several times on the QB issue and his wide receivers are constantly calling him out a la Robertson, Robinson & now Burton… it wouldn’t come as a shock to me to find out that the reason Gilbert took off was somehow tied to how CKS treats the receivers that dare question his methods or game-plan!

Kirby smart has “mis-stepped SEVERAL times on the QB issue”? You’re going to have to show your work on that one, friend. IF I concede that not playing Justin Fields as a true freshman in 2018 in favor of a more experienced player was a “mis-step” because he ended up leaving, that’s only one example. Number two is … what? Playing Stetson Bennett over JT Daniels in 2021? Because the National Champions pullover I’m wearing suggests that wasn’t so much of a mis-step as we may have thought during the year. So… what, playing Fromm after he clearly outplayed Jacob Eason and letting Eason transfer? Nah, I feel like that was the right call, too.

This is a garbage take, with no facts to back it up. Robertson was given EVERY chance to succeed here, and he just didn’t. His body of work at Auburn wasn’t anything write home about either. Robinson, eh?!
Gilbert is still on the team and will likely be a big part of the offense next year. That is the only fact/ opinion that hasn’t been proven.

What gets me is the dumb motherfuckers can’t look at the scores against the common regular-season opponents prior to the SECCG and see that game was the outlier, not the Natty. We were the better team all year, we stumbled in the SECCG, we righted ourselves, and won the Natty.
Also, doesn’t bringing up cumulative scores that are basically identical confirm that they were blown out in the Natty since that whole crowd was crowing about how they blew us out in the SECCG?
Bring them bitches back on. Not crazy about having to find a way to contain Young, but I’ll take my chances with the Dawgs we got.
