Bookending a season

There’s something especially appropriate about a Kirby Smart-coached team starting and ending a national championship-winning season with defensive scores.

That’s two years in a row.

  2. Wasn’t the previous season started and ended with safeties?

In 2022 let’s dial up bookend scoop and scores to keep the defensive scoring streak alive!

That is the cherry on top of the ice cream sundae that was this years Defense! Enjoy it gentlemen we are likely ( not absolutely) to never see one like that again! Someone soon will do a compilation of all the sacks, turnovers and fantastic plays by this defense, I estimate it will run close to an hour long!

I know everyone keeps saying its “generational” but the way Kirby recruits, its not like we won’t have dudes every year littered all over the field. This recruiting class alone was a monster on the D side of ball. I’m not saying we will have a repeat on D anytime soon like we saw this year, but I don’t think it’s far fetched to reason we will always have a very dominant defense with Kirbs at the helm.

I’ve re-watched the Ringo pick six so many times at this point, the videos have replaced my own in-person view of it from the upper deck in Indy as my prevailing memory of the moment. Not that I’m complaining, I’m going to end up watching it at least ten more times before bed tonight, I’m sure.

The only thing more awesome than that was watching the USS New Jersey firing full broadsides at the North Vietnam coast.

What a beautiful, wonderful clip. I just keep coming back and watching it again and again. What’s that song the SEC Network keeps playing ad nauseum promoting girls basketball?

Almost enjoy watching the crowd’s reaction as much as the pick and runback. You know that ripped the scab off the seeping scab that has been eating away at the nerds, turds and even the Bama fans hope. You can throw in a few more fan bases to that. The hillbillies, the barners, and the clemsonites to name a few. I love their pain. That moment was the crushing curb stomping of their miserable hopes that they would go to sleep happy on that beautiful Monday night.

It would be appropriate for Chris Smith to start the season against Oregon the same way. Please note that Smith also played a role in Ringo’s pick six by taking out Bryce Young. Lanning would have to be grudgingly proud of Smith.
