Everything old is new again.

Holy crap — talk about getting the band back together.

“Jumped at the chance”.  Welcome home again, Coach.

McClendon was good at recruiting and developing guys so I think this is an excellent hire! Also brings another Bulldog back to Athens!

Nothing but love for Coach Mac. He was a great head coach for one game for us, too. DGD!

Just stay away from Willie Martinez, please.

Yeah great recruiter for sure. I looked up what he coached when he was here for Richt; I was way off, I thought he coached wide outs much longer than he did.

BMac is a damned good Dawg! And if Kirby is ever unavailable, Maclendon is undefeated as our head coach.

  8. Love this dude. Coached us to a win in the Gator Bowl after Richt had been let go, which I know couldn’t have been an easy assignment. Glad to have him back in the fold.

As others have pointed out on social media: now we really have all the living former head coaches back in Athens. 🙂

Now. I know it may not really matter but who will wind up as DC?

Knew this one for a couple of weeks. While it would’ve been cool to see if Kirby would even approach former teammate and my favorite Bulldog ever, Hines Ward, McClendon is a known quantity as a great position coach and better recruiter.

Though, you’d have to imagine Ward would be a natural at recruiting, and not just because he can show up to recruit’s houses wearing two Super Bowl rings.

Maybe. I love Hines but one thing I have learned over Kirby’s tenure is that recruiting is 24/7/365. Showing up with a couple of Super Bowl rings is cool for one visit, but it can’t be the only one. Not saying that Hines couldn’t do what it takes over time – maybe he could and maybe he wants to – but Kirby doesn’t choose lightly. At least, not so far. Have to respect the track record.

I know we’re not a no fun league crowd, but…….

Cincy needs to draft our entire front 7.

If KC drafts Pickens look out………

  15. Probably a good 1-2 years, then he gets offered a head job. Great dude.

    Again with the NFL stuff,

SF or LA could change their game with a Roquan or Nakobe player. Too bad they can’t be on their teams with the draft and contract stuff.

Dang, Stafford, Mahomes, Burrow, and Garropolo all throw such pretty balls. Nice tight spirals right on target, float or rope. I am starting to see the progression from college to pro and enjoy it through name recognition and our recent success.

Glad to see McClendon back. He is a DGD. I also love that Kirby prefers to hire employees with Head Coaching experience (even if only for a few games).

I always did the same thing in my restaurants. You can hire & train servers and bartenders to be managers , but they don’t always GET IT the way former GM’s did.

Coaches with egos (and restaurant GMs with egos) can’t handle doing that.

  20. Someone remarked that most of his job changes were driven by headcoach turnover. Guessing Smart isn’t going anywhere
