Ben Jones, on Kirby Smart and Stacy Searles (who was his position coach at Georgia:
Finally, Jones touched on what it was like to be recruited by Searels.
“I was an easy sell,” Jones said. “I wanted to be at Georgia. The relationship he built with me right away, he was a guy I trusted and a guy I wanted to work for. You gotta think, Kirby Smart was my recruiter on the other end at Alabama. Those were my two top teams and you know where I ended up—at Georgia. So you got to give Coach Searels some credit, he beat out the big dawgs. We always give him (Kirby) a hard time about it. I talk to Kirby all the time and say man, I lived 20 minutes from Tuscaloosa and went to Georgia. So you must not be that good of a recruiter.”
Oh, sure, they laugh about that now…
First Stinchcomb now Jones. What do these guys know???

G-Day tells the tale. We’ll see how ready the O-line is.

Eleven in thirty years.
What’s that you ask? Oh, Searels has only had ELEVEN o-lineman of his drafted into the NFL in thirty years of coaching.
He’s also never once been the primary recruiter on one single 5-star recruit since 247 has been tracking those stats.
And his line at UNC gave up over 120 sacks in three years. Against mostly ACC competition.
But sure, Ben Jones wants to stick up for his coach, so it’s all good?

We’ll NEVER win a national championship with Stetson Bennet at QB. Now you have something else to whine about constantly.

Exactly, old Matthew has been mighty quiet ever since every gripe & negative theory he had about Georgia Football was quelled in our historic CFP run. His little heart must be full now that Kirby has made such a huge miscalculation on the Searles hire. I’m sure the staff is waiting with bated breath for more of Matthew’s hot takes to help them navigate the upcoming season.

Why would Kirby be the primary recruiter for a Center?

Kirby is the primary recruiter for every position and every player. That is what coaches that are in control do.. Good coaches anyway..

I’m talking about when he was the DB coach at Alabama. Why would the DB coach be recruiting a Center?
