Idle thought about a great freshman season

I dunno… maybe it’s just me, but the first thing that came into my head after reading this quote from George Pickens about Adonai Mitchell,

… Pickens spoke about wanting to leave a legacy in Athens; when he was asked who could pick up where he left off, Pickens didn’t hesitate to provide a name.

“AD [Adonai Mitchell],” Pickens said. “It’s like, some stuff you can’t coach. That’s really part of it. He’s got the skills, he’s got the mindset, the routes, the speed. I mean, he’s got it all. So he probably is the next upcoming, and I’m glad that he got to see me before I left so he can kind of understand.”

was wondering if his career track might turn out to be something like DeVonta Smith’s was.  They do have something similar to compare from their respective freshman seasons, after all.

Eh, it’s probably just me.

One thing you can say for Pickens, he’s humble.

Williams would have broken that pass up if he hadn’t been hurt.

I don’t think it’s even a close comparison. Mitchell caught his in tight coverage.

  6. Mitchell was a revelation last year given his recruiting profile. I’d love to see him take that second year leap and go from a really solid option to a go-to option out wide. 29-426-4 is great for a 3* true freshman. I’d love to see those numbers be closer to 50-750-8 in 2022.

I saw a tweet after the national title game that AD wanted to go to Tennessee but Pruitt didn’t want him because he was diabetic or something. LOL that man earned every inch of his firing.

I’m not a guy who follows recruiting very closely, so when he showed out last spring at G-Day I was looking around at my buddies like, “who the heck is this kid?!” I figured he’d wind up being a great player for us with the performance he had that day, but little did I know he’d be catching the go ahead touchdown pass from Stetson Bennett in a national championship game.

    Man, what a ride. Encore!
