If you come at the GOAT, you’d best not miss.

Come for the tweet, but stay for the comments, which burn with the righteous indignation of a thousand suns.

I guess I didn’t grasp how much that natty loss steams ‘Bama fans.  Not that there’s anything wrong with that.

  1. But, but, but Kirby Bowl Cut Dumb wastes all the talent. He’s only a recruiter. Kirby proves anyone can win with a bunch of blue chips.

Am I doing this right, Handbags?

By the way, the Bammers are starting the mantra that anyone that wins a natty not named Saban in the SEC ends up fired in a couple of years.

Had a meeting yesterday that included a new co-worker who I’d never met. I had come straight into the meeting from the truck, so I had this hat:

…just sitting on the table in front of me. When said co-worker came in, I noticed he was wearing a class ring. Finally noticed when he turned his hand that the stone and there was a little “A” with a mullet on it. I couldn’t have planned things any better.

    Everything’s coming up Milhouse.

Fun fact, though I’d be careful throwing that around to outsiders. Without question Kirby had a far better collection of players than Bama did in 2007 when Saban arrived in Tuscaloosa.

    • True, except everybody knows Kirby can’t develop players. 😉

Why, according to the Gumps, we were one of the best teams in the nation when we hired Kirby.

Out of curiosity, I pulled up Alabama’s 2007 roster. Already there were:

Glen Coffee: eventual 3rd round pick
Andre Smith: eventual 1st round pick
Brandon Deadrick: eventual 7th round pick
Wallace Gilberry: undrafted free agent, played 9 NFL seasons
Simeon Castille: undrafted free agent, played in 9 games over two seasons
Rashad Johnson: eventual 3rd round pick
Javier Arenas: eventual 2nd round pick
Marquis Johnson: eventual 7th round pick
Greg McElroy: eventual 7th round pick

For comparison’s sake, Georgia in 2016:

Nick Chubb: eventual 2nd round pick
Sony Michel: eventual 1st round pick
Isaiah McKenzie: eventual 5th round pick
Lorenzo Carter: eventual 3rd round pick
Roquan Smith: eventual 1st round pick
John Atkins: undrafted free agent, played in 14 games over two seasons
DeAndre Baker: eventual 1st round pick
Isaiah Wynn: eventual 1st round pick

So yes, Georgia was in better shape at the top end, but the cupboard wasn’t exactly bare in Tuscaloosa.

And Kirby took his team to the title game in year two. All be it for a questionable offsides penalty and Kirby wins the first of two titles there.
Sabans second year at Bama ended with a reach around to Utah.

I have a business trip to Alabama this week. You can be sure I packed several Georgia shirts to wear.

Some Gump came up to me with my National Championship shirt on. He said “National Champions? Is that y’all’s first?” I said “It’s the most recent one.”

Someone at UGA better put some Kampus Kops on guard duty over and inside Sanford Stadium to watch over the Hedges. Half that fanbase is a bunch of Harvey Updikes.

    I’m not even kidding.

Oh, and one more thing. That 30-24 lead Kirby holds over Saban in total draft picks will shortly increase.
    Substantially.

Well with the exception of the last SEC game, Kirby was kicking his ass in the games we just didn’t finish. Them gumps knew this was coming, they just don’t know how it all unfolded so fast.

  10. I heard Metchie and Williams will each be drafted 10 different times in the first round, increasing Nicky’s count by 20 right off the bat.

Those twitter comments are golden. Didn’t read them all, but one was still bitching about Kirby stealing photos of their recruiting board.

How to make a gump’s head ‘splode.
Casually mention that you think the Dawgs will need to beat TAM twice to repeat as National Champs (just leave Bama out of the conversation as if they’ve already been supplanted by TAM).

Yaaaawn….none of this really matters. Our dynasty began on that fateful night in Indy the split second Ringo crossed the goal line, sealing Bama’s fate. From here on out, whether we’re talking about championships, recruiting, draft picks or…whatever….it’s a Dawg’s world, everyone else just lives in it.
