That was fast, Pac-12. Not that it’s gonna matter.
Sounds like the rubber meets the road in the PAC-12 tie breakers, which will be necessary most years. Any word on that? Or is it just understood that it’s playoff committee ranking?

Maayyybe. They could get lucky. Southern Cal gets a nearly Notre Dame benefit of the doubt poll boost; Stanford, UCLA, and Oregon/Washington not too far behind.

Casting aside what we all know is the real reason for this: could someone please explain the purpose of a “championship game” without divisions? Or what the purpose of divisions are without a trip to the title game for the winner?

It’s comical but let’s face it. They are the league that would have a 8-4 USC team upset a 9-3 Oregon for the championship and both would be out of the picture for CFP. It makes sense in that way.
Also, “without divisions” suggests that it would be a round robin and they aren’t doing that, they’re still “divisional” in their scheduling. This just opens the door for a USC-UCLA rematch if both of them have 11-1 records and they only lost to each other.

Better yet, let’s just say every team in the PAC 12 is the conference champion. Everyone gets a participation trophy. That way there are never any losers.
