PAWWWLLL!!!, and “where it’s at”

PAWWWLLL, stirring things up:

Sporting News’ Bill Bender recently released his top head coaches for the 2022 season with Nick Saban on top, followed by Dabo Swinney, then Kirby Smart, Ryan Day, Luke Fickell, Brian Kelly, Lincoln Riley, Jimbo Fisher, Jim Harbaugh and Kyle Whittingham.

College Football talking head Paul Finebaum was not a fan of Swinney being listed above Smart.

“How about right now?… My pushback is we don’t need a list,” Finebaum told Bender on the Paul Finebaum Show Tuesday. “We already know that. We want a judgment to say who’s better. Are you telling me – I promised myself I wouldn’t do this, but I’m going to – are you telling me that Kirby Smart is inferior by one number to Dabo Swinney, in spite of that championship? I don’t need to remind you but look at the trajectory of the programs right now and where they are. I think Dabo Swinney is yesterday’s news, and Kirby Smart is where it’s at in college football today.”

I thought a list is a kind of judgment.

It’s even more absurd when you consider that Kirby had to face 1/2 of Metchie and Williams in the title game for about a quarter and a half. Clemson would have Clemsoned in any game against M&W.

This kind of stuff is just so completely asinine.

So! Let me get this straight: One guy thinks Kirby’s the better coach and the other thinks Dabo is. Yyyyep! Sounds like a real backyard brawl to me!

It’s a small sample size, but isn’t Kirby undefeated against Dabo?

Kirby beat #1 and #2 in the most recent season. ‘Nuff said.

Dabo without continuity of coaches will be interesting. This season will shed some light on the great debate of who is number 2.

PAWWWWWLLLLL is just doing what he always does: rub two fan bases together and wait for the fire to start. We beat Clemson last year, Dabo whined about how close they played us all year, and Kirby led us to a NC. I’m good with that.

Arguing about who’s better now is like arguing about who will win the SEC, or make the CFP, in June. It’s interesting, to a point, but lots of questions will be answered when games are actually played. Meanwhile, PAWWWWWWL has, ad time that ain’t gonna sell itself

  10. I answer simply by saying who would you want to lead your program right now. Saban, Dabo or Kirby?

I’ll take Kirby in that trio right now. Then Saban – only due to his age is he 2nd. I’m not even sure I take Dabo 3rd.

The clemson fan base is concerned that Bama is going to come after Dabo when Saban retires. I’m pretty sure they have nothing to worry about.

After the 2018 NC I was needling my Clemson bud, Grant, that Dabo was good as going home to Bama when Saban hung it up. He was indignant and adamant that Dabo would never leave Clemson as it was the perfect job and Dabo had built an Ee-leet program that would persevere until he retired on Lake Hartwell.
He’s also a firm believer in septic tank additives. I reckon he figures his shit don’t stink. Fuckn tater.
      Clemson sucks.

  12. I see Smart and Swinney as tied for 2nd. Whoever wins the next natti or h2h moves ahead

Isnt Paul an Auburn sellout? Didn’t he start eating Sabans corn the long way when he started winning? Don’t let that POS on our bus.

I don’t know really know about all that. I never could watch when he did his Jerry Springer routine providing a platform to the vocal trash fans of Bama and Auburn. Finebaum is Tennessee grad but has already grabbed on the bumper of the Kirby bus. He’s pretty fair and interviews serious guests intelligently. I can only take his show in small doses.

I record his show so I can 1. see who his guests are, and 2. fast forward through his a’hole callers if I want to hear the guest. That’s it for me.
