Surrender, surrender, but don’t give yourself away.

Tired:  College football needs guardrails to keep NIL compensation in check.

Wired:  Schools should be directly involved in offering NIL inducements to college football recruits!

There was a time, maybe before many of you youngsters were born, that Cheap Trick was the coolest band in the world.

I’m shocked, shocked, to learn that schools want in on the NIL money.

Words to live by…9 or so years ago Aerosmith was touring and Cheap Trick was opening for them (Global Warming Tour)…I really went just to see Cheap Trick

I can definitely relate, Frozen! I watched a whole arena empty out on Black Sabbath after Ted Nugent opened!!

      • Uncle Got wasn’t riding a yak in a loincloth at that event perchance?

Nah! This was back in ’74-’75 when he was getting traction as a solo act(post Amboy Dukes). Also, before “Wang Dang Sweet Poontang!”
During the set he changed to a guitar with obviously hotter pickups. He wowed the crowd with a couple of cords and said,
“Would you believe this quitar can pick the balls off a charging rhino from 100 yards?!”

Turns out you have to have a shitload of permits to own a Yak.
I’d have been sixish around then. The only thing I remember riding then was a half broke yearling Quarter Horse that drunk ass Got Sr. and his drunk ass buddy haltered up to “Teach me to ride”. Unfortunately, they left the gate open and when they swatted the thing on the ass my cowboy skills were, alas, not up to the task…

          • Ahh the renowned game of Hang On! Which usually ended with Tuck & Roll…we had a dehorned goat…I too was a tick turd in the mid 70’s…no seatbelts or bubble wrap for kids back then…just rub dirt on it and walk it off

    • Saw them before I ever heard of them. They were the opening act for Atlanta Rhythm Section’s Champagne Jam in Richt stadium. It was them, followed by Heart, Foreigner, Bob Seger and the Silver Bullet Band and ARS. Somewhere back in the 70s.

      • Shit, that sounds like a fun concert…bet the acoustics sucked in that big sinkhole…I heard they used to have big events like that at the old Atlanta Speedway back in the day

Cheap Trick was my first ever rock concert. I don’t really care about the NIL issue, like, at all. It will sort itself out eventually; but I wear that personal rock and roll achievement as a badge of honor.

  6. The ADs are starting to see the money drain from their bank accounts. Like mafia bosses, they’re going to visit with the new parties and explain how things work.
