A journey through the mind of Your Daily Gator

Boy, this is dizzying:  one of the then 247Sports writers makes a sarcastic comment about Kirby’s coaching ability in 2019, which the folks at the Gator board run with a year later as truth… only to wind up chalking up Georgia’s natty to Metchie and Williams.  That’s some comment thread.

That was fun. Pretty much a dichotomy of the last few years of being a Gator. All they had was 1980, and having that taken away from them was just too much. They are struggling and starting to show that bitter side when it comes to the Dawgs. Starting to sound more and more like the Auburn board. If they wear orange and play in the SEC = loathe Georgia, and especially loathe Kirby, who live rent free in their heads every day. Beat Alabama this year and I’ll be no different in Tuscaloosa.

Read their posts, drank their salty tears, and smacked my lips.

I keep forgetting you can inadvertently embed programming cues in these replies.

That was kind of fun. It was like watching a horror movie that you’ve already seen. You know what’s coming, but the characters don’t. Then Jan 10 hits them like Jason Voorhees with a machete.

I remember saying the same thing about Spurrier, Urban and even Saban. Smart has elements of all three : he hates Florida as much or more than we do (like Spurrier), he is disciplined and organized (like Saban), and most importantly he’s fucking ruined Florida football for the next decade (like Corch). It’s a hell of a combination.

This has to be a terrifying time for them. Once the super league is in place, their chances of ever winning a conference title go down even more. Especially if they are only able to recruit similarly to a USCjr.

True story: I had to sit on the UF side this year; people were mostly polite, but it felt like they were hoping they might win, unlike believing they would win. They were into it early, quieted down as our D took over, and were ashen after the the 3 minutes of the first half. Most quietly vanished in the 3rd, shame, disgust, and a dusting of confusion writ large on their faces. They realized 2020 was not a turning point, it was a fluke.

Leaving the stadium, I felt good. One Florida dude, probably 60ish, made eye contact with me ans said, “Well, you got us this year… but you lose basically everyone for next year. If you don’t win it all this year, today doesn’t mean shit.” I smiled (because that always annoys the shit out of people trying to piss you off), and in a matter of fact tone, said” Friend, WE DO lose a lot, and we all want a NC. Based on today, I’d say we have a pretty good shot, guess we will see what happens, huh?” This was not the angry response he sought, so he quickly moved on.

I would have loved to have seen him on January 12. I will be looking for him this fall in Jacksonville. He’s old enough to recall the Dooley era, and like many of them, the last 8 months have had a chance to sink in deeply. I’m not going to say shit to their undisciplined asses. I’m just going to point at the scoreboard and LAUGH. They see what’s coming. And there isn’t a thing they can do about it. 🙂

Those fuckers also think the main reason we are beating them in recruiting this year is NIL. I haven’t seen us paying anyone millions up front (I’m looking at you Tennessee, Miami and A&M). They now also blame their admissions standards. I admittedly don’t know about football players only, but the overall average incoming SAT score for UGA and UF students is within about 20 points. They just need to accept their return to their rightful place.
