I got ‘yer rebuilding year right here, coach.

Some very subtle shade being thrown in a westerly direction by Kirby Smart here ($$):

“That’s the biggest thing is that everybody keeps bringing up, you know, ‘You won a national championship. Do you worry about complacency?’ Well, the guys who won it, they’re mostly in NFL camps,” Smart said. “So, there’s a lot of hungry guys on our team. I would be more concerned about complacency if you had, you know, I don’t know, 15 of 22 starters back, if you had 12 or 13 of 22 starters back.”

Then again, how could ‘Bama be complacent?  After all, Metchie and Williams are gone.

  1. I love how Kirby said to the question about rebuilding is that is a retrospective look. I took that as a little bit of a dig. When he said I don’t go into any season thinking it’s a rebuilding year, that gave me a lot of confidence.

The fact that we took no transfers this season tells me that Kirby didn’t see an available player (Caleb Williams was never available) at a position of need that would be an upgrade over the players he has on the roster.

I’d like to think that at at just 1-4, Kirby is smart enough not to pot shots just yet.

      • I don’t think it was a pot shot, but clearly, he’s been listening to Little Nicky’s crying and loser talk throughout the off-season. Kirby NEVER said anything about blocked punt or the practical decapitation of Dre Swift in the national title game in 2017. His only response was “we aren’t going anywhere.”

I don’t expect bama to be complacent. I expect them to be front running and getting all the attention and expectations. I expect them to be favored in ATL.

In exactly 4 months from tomorrow we need to show up, punch them in gd mouth and leave no doubt. Then they can file their excuses.

The Dawgs have to be so much better on offense and disruptive on defense that the ref’s Bama privilege is neutralized.
      It’s a scandal and a shame.

Exactly right. Just like when Stetson’s identical-to-Bryce-Young’s incomplete pass was ruled a fumble, the team realized what was up, and were like, “Okay, 11 on 19. Got it. Now that we know who the opposition is, let’s do this.” You saw it ripple through their faces all the way down the sideline starting with QB1. At that moment, I knew we were going to win.

Most everyone seems to think that things with Bama will continue as they have in the near past.
I’m not completely sold on that idea.
Bama took a step backwards last year. Yeah, they had a great year but lost to TAM and needed near divine intervention to beat Florida and Auburn.
Everyone focuses on Georgia’s having lost so much of last year’s defense to the pros, but Bama has lost a LOT of it’s offense. Bryce Young is a talent but his kryptonite has been exposed (pressure…unrelenting pressure). The coaching staff may be a little off of what they’re used to over there in Gumperstan.
    They’ll be a handful. They’ll be good.
So will the Dawgs and TAM.
Those that think last year was just a hiccup and that Georgia is going to be a one hit wonder are in for an awakening.
CKS is a relentless, determined and driven coach.
Georgia is not getting the respect due. Yeah…ranked number three, but that’s only because the idiot’s that make up these rankings couldn’t find an excuse to rank them lower.
Under the radar at number three seems enigmatic, but there it is. I believe CKS is happy with that and can use it to motivate the team.

  5. Bama was a couple of wet farts from 8-4 last season.

Maybe they fixed their OL, maybe their young DBs have grown up. Maybe they’re able to replace Metchie/Williams. Maybe Young will have a stellar Sophomore year. Maybe picking up the back from Tech boosts the running game. Maybe Will Anderson remains unblockable by most.

Lot of maybes, but I’m not sold. I’m not sold at all.

    Saban says “rebuilding year”….
    Saban means….
“I’ve got too much bama in me” (Can’t admit he’s the problem)
Better watch the trees around auburn!!
