There’s college football today! Yay!
Did I mention there’s college football today? Here’s the slate of games:
There’s something for everybody there, from a full-blown conference meeting between Nebraska and Northwestern, to some very late night Hawai’i action (if nothing else, Vanderbilt gets a nice trip out of it).
What catches your eye there, or is it simply a case of being satisfied there’s college football again?
Now we just needs some cool crisp mornings to go with it.

If USC fired Clay Helton when they should have, I REALLY would have been right-on.
But yeah, I knew that asshole wouldn’t last longer than a year in Jacksonville. However, I would hazard a guess that most people here would have bet on the same thing, too.

If if only known I could be at the western Kentucky game. Happen to be in Kentucky for the weekend and only half hour away.

I’ll bet there are still plenty of great seats available.

Funny you should mention that. I checked and $25 gets you a good seat. Floated it by the girlfriend and was met with a resounding no. Lol.

This is no better way to start a college football season.

I rarely miss a day of checking in here at the finest Dawg blog in the land. Clearly I missed the notice. I enjoy and appreciate the Fabris Pool. I’ll offer a sincere thank you Bluto for another season. 🍻

I’ll watch some of the Nebraska game and probably tune in later to see if FSU shits the bed. Other than that, nothing too exciting on today. Good day to cut the grass later so I don’t have to do it next Saturday!

I’ll watch some of the Huskers vs Nerdwestern. I want to relax today, tomorrow will be working in the shop, and hopefully they’ll play some old school style football

I never bet against my Dawgs PTC. In fact, it’s rare I ever wager a UGA game. Already emotional enough. My heart wants Dawgs 15-0. My head, and history, say otherwise for the coming season.

Do people in Europe pay attention to CFB? I’m surprised the NFL has games over there, is our football really that popular?

No, it is not. Volleyball is more popular than American football and I am not even joking around. I have close family in Poland, Germany and England.

I know it’s hard to believe but people actually travel to see their team play.

Apparently, Nebraska is still terrible on defense. Just let a Northwestern receiver go completely uncovered for a TD. High school level incompetence on display here.

And with the game on the line and NW backed up to their own goal line, NW just ran the ball down Nebraska’s throat. Weak.

Anybody else catch the goat rodeo that was Gameday this morning? Pollack was at HD HQ in Vinings, and everybody else was remote. Did they have a Rona outbreak that caused them to not be together. With the amount of $ that Mickey puts into CFB it was an absolute amateur looking train wreck.

Really? You’re going to preempt a 17-14 real CFB game (that has been fairly entertaining) for the fucking Falcons pre-game show and preseason game???

Huskers blew two double-digit leads and lost by three to a NW team that won five games last season. But hey, at least Frost is doing his best Harsin imitation by ‘crushing it’ in the weight room with his players. https://omaha.com/sports/college/huskers/blogs/bigred/in-the-weight-room-huskers-see-big-gains-and-scott-frost-is-there-crushing-it/article_f36878b1-cf90-5334-b4d7-6921ba24d942.html

I wouldn’t disagree with your assessment of his coaching abilities,. He probably has done one thing right. His go away fee is better than ours. 🥃

Ryan Hilinski threw for 314 yards and two touchdowns to help Northwestern rally to a victory in the season opener before 42,699 fans at Aviva Stadium in the Irish capital.
Frost took the blame for a failed onside kick that changed the momentum of the game in the third quarter.
“I made that call so that’s on me,” Frost said of the decision after the Huskers took a 28-17 lead. “At that point in the game, I thought all the momentum was on our side. I thought if we got it, we could end the game.
“You can’t really foresee them scoring 14 straight and us sputtering after we played well to start the second half on offense. Again those are excuses. If I had (to do) it over, I wouldn’t make the call.”

He gone. Only question is, does it happen after 01-Oct-22 when his buyout gets cut in half, or do they keep him through the end of the season because he’s a “favored son?”
If I were Alberts, who is a guy I really like and whom I think will be a great AD, you fire him immediately following the game the week his buyout goes fro $15M to $7.5M, and then you work like a devil to get a coach signed in the next month so they can work on recruiting because of the early signing day.
Just another reason to revamp the recruiting calendar and get rid of early and late signing day, and simply have signing day happen the week after the National Championship. So, between the 15 and 20th of January or so.

Apparently defense is optional in this CLT-FAU game. Plus, these games are pretty interesting to see where a lot of these players turned up, Hellinski (from Sackerlina) to NW, N’kosi Perry (from Miami) to FAU, and probably more that I missed.
LikeLiked by 1 person
Hellinski actually looked pretty good today. It was against Nebraska so you can’t really judge it. Northwestern appears to be back to being a team that is gritty and can give some of the big boys fits on any given day.
