Dan Lanning says he won't tell the public who starts and where. Says it doesn't help Oregon in anyway letting that info out. We'll find out starters when they take the field vs Georgia next weekend.

Chaser.
Kirby Smart when asked about Dan Lanning not announcing Oregon's starting QB:
“That doesn’t really impact anything for us. I know who the quarterback’s going to be. So I’m not worried about that.”

I know that you know that I know…
The media wants to know (and I guess we do, too), but the coaches have put enough study into it on both sides to have a pretty fair idea, and that’s without knowing Bo Nix is there.

There, fixed it for you, Kirbs.

Curious if anyone knows: When’s the last time a first-time HC had to OPEN his first season against the defending national champs and/or Top 5 opponent?
I imagine that’s pretty rare.

Mike Leach (LSU 2020) and Geoff Collins (Clemson 2019) had to do it in their first years at their respective schools but both had been head coaches previously. The last coach to face a defending national champion in their very first game as a head coach was Darrell Hazell, who brought Kent State to Tuscaloosa on September 3, 2011 and lost 48-7.

I’ve been happily asleep at the wheel all year, soaking up that sweet, sweet Natty tonic since January. But color me a little concerned about this game.
The no class/unlimited practice thing for the Ducks bothers me. That can only help them while we’ve been limited to 20 hours since 8/16.
Dillingham as OC w/ Nix wasn’t as awful as w/o him @ OC w/ Nix @ AU — now they are back together. Lanning put together a competent staff (not comparing to ours at all but it’s a strong staff for PAC). Oregon’s OL is maybe better than AU’s too.
I think we win win of course, but 17.5? I just don’t see that. Depth wins in the end, but I’m prepared to be a little worried into the 2nd half. GATA fellas, ease me down please.
And thanks for the warm blanket of basking in the glow of champions all off season, it’s been fantastic.
