It’s not that some people never learn. Some people never **want** to learn.

This is your college football administrator’s brain on drugs.

Urban Meyer has been contacted by Nebraska as the team continues its process of determining candidates for its head coaching vacancy, sources told CBS Sports on Saturday. It was not made clear whether Meyer was asked about his interest in holding the job.

Nebraska athletic director Trev Alberts went out of his way this week to caution that names mentioned in connection with the opening may not necessarily be candidates for the position. As such, Meyer may have been contacted as an outside source to vet other potential candidates for the position.

I exaggerate, of course.  I’ve never heard that Alberts is a drug addict.

Seriously, why would anyone in their right mind consider Corch for a head coaching job after the bang up work he did in Jacksonville?  For that matter, given that his last reference led to Addazio getting hired by Colorado State, why would anyone seek out his hiring advice?

Eh, don’t answer that.  Purely rhetorical questions.  Besides, part of me wants to see Nebraska do it, just so I can enjoy the flame out in three years.  Like day follows night.

Toxic – why would you bring that into your already sinking program. You need to reset. This would be an incredibly stupid move.

Be not surprised if Sideshow Dan the Clown is hired as the head coach at Nebraska after Trev’s meeting with Corch, and also, be not surprised when Sideshow Dan has the Cornhuskers winning 9 games a year on the regular.

This time, unlike with Pelini, the Nebraska faithful will love it.

Pelini was a complete asshole. It’s hard to stomach even nine wins when your coach is a red-faced prick all the time.

(Unless you’re Ohio State, that is.)

I hate Corch as much as anybody, but the head coaching job in the NFL is completely different than in college. Saban’s time as a head coach in the NFL was exactly a success. Having said that, fuck Meyer. One of my favorite posts on GTP is the one where Corch is giving an interview and you can see a half naked man frolicking around in the mirror. LMFAO.

Any school would be insane not to jump on the opportunity to hire Meyer. Guy’s an ass of the highest order. He’s also one of the truly great coaches of this generation.

Now, floating his name without knowing for certain he’s available? That’s a good way to make sure whoever you hire knows they’re at least the second choice, and to make sure you can’t hire any of the other great coaches who ain’t going to be anybody’s second choice.

I just don’t think even he believes that he can do at Nebraska what he did at Florida and Ohio State. Maybe he does and maybe he can. I’ll love seeing him get the shit beat out of him if I’m right.

    • I’m not so sure about that. Meyer hasn’t coached in 4 years. I don’t know how his manipulation strategy would play in the era of the transfer portal (“f-you urbs, I’m out. See you on the field next fall”) or NIL (“bench me if you want, a-hole. I still get my money”)

If you are willing to sell your soul to the Devil, then Urban Meyer is the coach for you. He is a fantastic coach and an equally horrible human being. He will win (at any cost and I’m not referring to dollars and cents) and then leave you holding the bag on another scandal while he suddenly (again) develops “health problems” (of a non-specific nature). Wash, rinse, repeat.

Urban’s MO is well documented now. I can’t imagine there is a school willing to meet his ego centric price with all the baggage he brings. If there is I’ll enjoy watching the epic flame out.

He’s not a good person. But the worst he’s ever done as a college coach is 8-5. Saban can’t even say that. But I do know another coach who can 😉

He’ll get another college coaching job somewhere. Don’t know if he’d want Nebraska if they offered it to him though.

I’d much rather see him at Nebraska than at Auburn. NFL failure doesn’t mean you can’t still be an excellent college coach, just ask Spurrier.
