I pity the fool.

My Gawd.

How bad is it when Junior decides to be merciful?

Yeah, that’s what I need. Another reason to dislike Joey Freshwater. He’s a tech sympathizer.

  2. I’m trying to think of a time a head coach straight up said “I didn’t want to run up the score with coach so-and-so fixing to get fired,” and I can’t come up with one.

The announcers were ragging on Tech from the get-go. With 7 minutes left in the FIRST quarter, the announcers said on fourth down in Tech territory “Tech surely has to go for it here to have a chance in this game” or something like that. Hilarious!

Man, that’s quite a turn of phrase.

I hope the nerds dont get wise and decide to get back to real football and go after the Lane train. He has ole miss rolling though and i dont know if he wants to leave a target rich environment in the magnolia state.

Wait. What? Is Laner growing up? Having sympathy? Tell me it ain’t so. I hope not because I’ll sure miss him.

As far as Tech is concerned, I had a convo with an alumnus last evening about the state of the program and he said it was the lowest he had ever seen. I asked why they claim to have no buyout money for Geoff with all those highly, highly paid engineers and he said they don’t support the program. Stingy nerds.

You’d be hard pressed to convince me this wasn’t backhanded shit talking from Joey Fresh.

  8. Thing is, I kind of think Kirby did the same thing last year, just didn’t come out and brag about it.

He better not this year. He better lay waste.

Georgia Tech surrendered in the first quarter when they tried to run clock instead of competing. Georgia put up as many points as we could in the time allotted, though Kirby did take his foot off of the accelerator late. It’s hard to leave your good players in at the end when it’s going to get chippy and dirty and you’ve got a conference title game the next week.

The Dawgs scored every possession last year. tech simply used as much time as possible while scoring zip, zilch, nada, nil, zero and limiting Georgia to seven tries. Kirby wasn’t taking it easy at all.

I don’t understand why the seat would be hot. It makes it sound like the expect to be relevant.

Kirby basically ran the score up on Paul Johnson in their last meeting because he was trying to get him fired so he wouldn’t have to waste time on that offense anymore. I’m not as sure that Kirby wants to see Geoff Collins fired for obvious reasons, but I feel like he’ll go ahead and obliterate Tech anyway. The man tried to step up to him in recruiting, and we all know that’s what Kirby really cares about. There will be no recruiting beach heads established by Tech on his watch. We’re going for 60.

My favorite part of Kirby opening up the offense and letting Beck run the full offense is the potential to set a margin of victory record against the Nerds. Kirby’s had a couple of shots at it. Je-off’s fate will be sealed by then, no sense in taking it easy to keep him around for another year. If we don’t win in the neighborhood of 52-0 I will be mildly disappointed.

Lane will be perfect for Alabama when Saban retires: he is a good coach, but if he fails and is fired he is the perfect guy after the GUY.

    • I’m not sure Lane wants it. He detests high school recruiting. I’m sure he would love the Bama boosters when they turn on him. It’s the kind of job where you can get fired at the airport (or apparently in the end zone after the game like with Herm Edwards).

He can win 8-10 games a year in Oxford and live like a king. He can even get the crowd to support his Transfer King/Transfer to the ‘Sip schtick.

BAMA most likely will go through at least one and maybe two head coaches before settling on the real replacement for Satan. (Of course, I’m just a shit-talking Georgia fan, what do I know?)

I’ve been saying for awhile that today’s Kiffin isn’t the same guy as Tennessee’s and USC’s Kiffin. Nice to see I’m right about that.

If I knew how to post a pic I would show you a screenshot of a friend of mine, who was on the ledge right behind OM’s bench, telling Lane to put the scout team in at 42-0.
His response? “They’ve been in the whole game”.

Lane knows the feeling, but “just damn” how embarrassing for Tech. Tech fans, the 150 or so that are left, must be absolutely humiliated.

He’s got that Spurrier gene. Even when he’s doing his level best not to be a dick (and I really think he was genuinely trying to say the right thing), he can’t hide it.

And I have a hard time even calling this dickish — Geoff Collins is a dead man walking and his buyout is $10m. If you swapped my name for Geoff’s in that sentence, I promise I would not be offended in the slightest.

Plus I can see there being some competition for Collins’ services as an analyst this offseason. He didn’t forget how to coach when he came to Tech; Tech is just a futile place to coach.

I don’t know. Tech is not a well-coached team. He coaches scared. See the end of half against Clemson when they were down four. That’s just one example. He seems over his head to me.

Get shut out and blown out 42-0 when the other coach was trying to take it easy on you?

AT GEORGIA TECH, YOU CAN DO THAT!
