Georgia beat Auburn by 32, so today’s line of 39.5 should be no big deal, right?
Well, take a look at the last five… er, four meetings between Georgia and Vanderbilt:
- 2017: Georgia 45, Vanderbilt 14
- 2018: Georgia 41, Vanderbilt 13
- 2019: Georgia 30, Vanderbilt 6
- 2020: (DNP)
- 2021: Georgia 62, Vanderbilt 0
So, sure, it could happen, but there’s a track record to suggest that’s an awfully big bite to chew. Especially when you consider (1) Vandy’s a better team than it was last season; (2) it’s going to be tempting with the bye week on hand to get the starters out of the game early; (3) the running game came alive last week; and (4) the teams that are first and fourth in the conference in time of possession are facing off.
Today will be a success in my mind if the health situation improves and the downfield passing game connects a couple of times. Anything beyond that is short-term gravy.
Have at it in the comments.
