Your bye week game day post

No Georgia for you today!ย  You’ll get this instead, and you’ll like it.

The early slate is a little thin, for sure, although I’ll probably watch a little of the Iowa-OSU game purely out of a sense of masochism.

Things do pick up at 3:30 with a trio:ย  Ole Miss @ LSU; UCLA @ Oregon; and Texas @ Oklahoma State.ย  I might take a peek at the Vandy-Mizzou meeting, if only to confirm which of the two is the worst team in the SEC.ย  7:00 brings us Alabama taking its post-Tennessee frustrations out on the Pirate’s team.

What’s on your menu today?

“Like, instant replay is ruining the game.”

Brian Kelly’s doing a little “hey, you kids, get off my lawn” with this, but I’m not sure that makes him wrong.

“My biggest concern is that we’re just slowing the game down,” Kelly said Monday. “Look, we’ve got to pay the bills, I get it. It’s four [TV timeouts per quarter] … That’s not going away, or we’re going to be obviously not paying anybody anything.

“But to stop the game for so many reviews and most of them to be ‘the play stands as called,’ it just takes away the flow of the game. Hopefully, it’s something that we can look at at the end of the season. Maybe it can be instant replay on scoring plays only or change of possession. And then, if you feel like it’s egregious, throw your red flag out there.”

It does beg the question as to whether there’s a happy medium out there.

But, suffice to say when you’ve got a conference tracking replay stats, at the least you’re acknowledging you’ve got a perception problem on your hands.

Bye week substitute

Needless to say, there’s no hype video to get us started this week, so, instead, check out this Jordan Hill post listing the top 10 plays of Georgia’s first half of the season.

What would you add/subtract from those?
