Man, the SEC recruiting trail is gonna be something over the next few years, ain’t it?
Cadillac Williams announces he has accepted Hugh Freeze's offer to be Auburn's Associate Head Coach. Williams on Freeze: "He is a man of faith and we share many of the same values when it comes to coaching."

Carnell knows how it works. Watch him in the Mahlzan spot when Chizik was still the coach. If he leaves to go somewhere to bolster his credentials it means that he knows what is about to happen. I am glad that Carnell gets to stay on and won’t be shocked if he becomes their coach permanently in the next few years.

The most charitable way I can spin this move is that Auburn hired a veteran coach to provide some experience and seasoning for Cadillac, whom they intend to give the full-time job when they inevitably fire Freeze for either 1) losing too much or 2) getting caught receiving a handie from a Supper Club waitress in Jimmy Rane’s skybox.
But either way, the negative recruiting is gonna be fierce over the next few years. Freeze is sure to thump his Bible in recruits’ living rooms until he wears a hole in the cover, but how much effect is that really gonna have when there are 13 other SEC coaches asking those same recruits’ moms “Do you really want your precious little boy playing for a guy like that?”

Well, Ranger Russ, as Gotthepicture mentioned a few threads earlier, Freeze was reformed under the watchful eye of Jerry Falwell Jr. Now there is some 150 proof blasphemy 😁 Seriously, everyone is free to speak their own mind, but if more people read Mark 6:5-15, they would be a lot better off for it. Or considerably less of a public embarrassment to themselves and family and friends at least.

Freeze’s baptism was seriously flawed. He wasn’t held under long enough (you know it is long enough when they quit struggling). That MIGHT have reformed him.

I can still see this blowing up in the next couple of weeks. If not man they sure made their bed with this one.
I dislike Freeze so much that I remember actually cheering for Florida when they played one another when McElwain was there. I do not dislike him for his religious talk, cheating or calling escorts it is something else that I can’t exactly put my finger on but it runs deep.
I told my Bama buddy yesterday that this is the best deep op that the Red Elephant Club has pulled since they stole Pat Dye’s pants or tricked Harvey Updike into poisoning those trees by sending him subliminal messages through his trailer antennae.

As for me, I once threw a lob pass to Nique in a pickup game at the old Stegman Hall. He dunked it behind his head with less effort than you or I use to drop an empty paper cup in a trash can. I’ve seen a good player or two up close🤣🤣🤣🤣

I told some friends this morning that this isn’t likely to blow over with the news cycle. I could see this devolving into a Mike Price at Bama type of tenure. The tone-deafness and lack of self-awareness are impressive on this one, even by Aubie standards. I really think they are way out over their skis on this one, and an epic yard sale is shortly to follow.

I’m getting pretty sick of Auburn and their obsessions with “men of faith” because we all know it’s bullshit because if Jesus himself came back and lost to Georgia and Alabama, they’d hang him on the cross a second time.

My greatest amusement is the Very Online portion of the Auburn fan base claiming to be “morally conflicted” about Hugh Freeze. He didn’t cover up sexual assaults like Art Briles; he cheated in recruiting and slept with hookers. If that isn’t an Auburn Man, I don’t know what is.
LikeLiked by 4 people
My greatest amusement is that the “Barners” seem to have lost the ability to truly “Barn” at a high level. I mean hiring Freeze is pretty mediocre “Barning” when Art Briles is available. From a football only perspective, Breeze is a decent coach, but Briles at Auburn scares me.

“thUGA! thUGA!” That’s the refrain from the Auburn “family” whenever a Black football player at the University of Georgia got arrested for misdemeanor possession of marijuana or driving with a bad license… to say nothing of their reactions when one of our players got in trouble for actual serious issues. “thUGA!” Yes, this morally sober and upright institution of integrity would never stoop so low as to welcoming people who could possibly break a law, possibly stray from the true path of the Auburn Creed.
Unless they lose to Alabama and Georgia a few times. Then all bets are off!
Then they’ll look past everything they themselves said about Hugh Freeze (and the fact that they themselves were only a calendar year ago circulating hurtful and false rumors about their coach having his own extramarital issues as an excuse to fire him for cause), they’ll lie to your face and tell you that they believe him to be repented and redeemed! A true Auburn Man of Integrity and Conviction! A family man! His wife has reconciled with him! As long as the check clears, I guess! So why should you care about any of it? And the truth is, I don’t care that Hugh Freeze is an obvious hypocrite who was laid low, it was obvious even before he was outed. I don’t care that Hugh Freeze cheated on his wife or that he did it with hookers. That’s his business. I do care that he harasses victims of sexual assault online. I do care that he routinely harasses reporters online for saying unkind things about him (which are usually true!). I do care that he lied to the faces of Ole Miss recruits who signed with him without knowing they’d be given bowl bans and recruiting sanctions. He’s a liar. It’s been proven. And if anyone chooses to believe his lie that he’s changed and redeemed and no longer a liar, well, don’t come crying to me when he lies to you and fucks you over, too.
Far be it for me to say that I know what a man’s relationship is with the Almighty. It’s entirely possible that Freeze is indeed a changed man. All I know is that when you spend a decade running around the country telling everyone how pious and Godly and Christlike you are and how you’re a molder of good men and you do it for the ability to profit from it and get football players to come to your school so you can make millions on their backs – you shouldn’t get to keep doing the exact same thing once you’ve been proven to be a hypocrite and a liar. To be no better than anyone else and to have lied about your faith. You shouldn’t get to turn right around and be Preacher Freeze at Auburn University.
But what do I know? I’m just a thug from thUGA. And damn proud to not be the moral equal of Auburn University. I’d never sink that low.

If Sleeze is out from under his show cause order with the NCAA, there really isn’t anything Sankey can do about the hiring. According to an article I read, Auburn only had to have a conversation with Sankey about the hiring, but Sankey did not have to approve.

All I know was that in 2016 Freeze’s Mississippi team gave us an epic beat down. With today’s relaxed player rules, if he gets the Jimmy’s and Joe’s, he will make AU competitive.
LikeLike
They certainly did, but that was obviously before Kirby had a chance to get his team together on the defensive side of the football and a fairly flimsy offense. The 2021 and 2022 games against Tennessee have me feeling just fine about playing the Freezus style of offense. Auburn will be competitive, but he’s going to have to make friends with a much better level of defensive coach before I worry too much about him.

I read somewhere that Saban spoke to him about how he was able to do so much against his defense and Freeze told him (he could be lying of course because he is Freeze) what their checks were and that Saban was taken back because it was so simple and not what they were prepared for. Personally I like the X’s and O’s stuff but football is at its heart a very simple game and much of the analysis of the X’s and O’s is moot when someone bigger, faster and stronger is whipping someone else’s ass.

Here’s the reality for the way things will be in 2023. Every coach in the SEC is going to want to hang 50 on this creep.
There is a coaching fraternity behind the scenes, and most of these guys are in it and want to stay in it. Hugh Freeze is so f’ing not in that fraternity. He’s farther out than Corch, Mullen, and Dabo. Saint Mark Richt hates this guy!
Just wait for the post game presser after Kiffin gets his chance or when the mic accidentally catches Kirby’s words as he is jogging off the field.

He’s right. Who among us hasn’t mistakenly used a burner phone to call hookers 12 times in 33 months, repeatedly mistakenly harassed a sexual assault victim on Twitter, mistakenly lied about the coach he replaced in a successful effort to trick members of his new team into sticking around, and mistakenly continued to violate NCAA rules while under investigation by the NCAA for rules violations?
