An new era on the Flats

Brent Key had his official intro as Tech’s new head coach today.  He said this at the presser:

Oh, shit.  He’s bringing back the triple option with cut blocking, isn’t he…

  1. We hate to play them but also want to beat the ever-loving hell out of them. How about that targeting foul on the punt return? One of the worst cheap shots I’ve witnessed.

The only redeeming thing about Brent Key is that a Fech man is likely to be on the sidelines when the Drought disappears from college football history.

I don’t hate playing Tech. GT games in Atlanta make for affordable tickets and it is easy to get down to CMR field and back home for the 2nd half of the 330 games.

      • When I say we hate to play them, there is a certain amount of “you really are nothing but a nuisance” and it’s the game I hate to lose. There’s little upside.

I have thoroughly enjoyed the last 2 ass-whippings at Richt-Smart Field at Vince Dooley Stadium.

A GT Coach who wins COFH 3 times is a decade gets extensions until he retires.

A UGA Coach who looses COFH 3 times in a decade gets fired. UGA. UGA Coaches get extensions for having winning records against Florida, Auburn, and Tennessee.

Hopefully they do not chop block again. Isn’t that illegal now. How about teaching his blockers how to really block.

He sounds like every new coach they’ve hired since Dodd went 0-2 versus Dooley and left. My suspicion is he’s getting the same results the rest of them have: A bucket full of ass whippings.

Dodd went 0-3 vs. Dooley. I share the sentiment about beating Tech until they declare no mas.

        Correct Magnus,
        Then he quit, again!!
First time, he quit the SEC. Couldn’t compete as a two platoon team.
Second time, he quit coaching. Couldn’t compete with Dooley.
        Phuq’n place ain’t nuth’n but quitters!!

“They have an opponent in this state they will work toward dominating too.”……Georgia State?

No one clapped during his press conference when he acknowledged “they have an opponent in this state they will work toward dominating too.”

I think they’re still in a bit of a “let’s wait and see” mode.

They were probably confused because Georgia Tech now has 3 division 1 rivals in this state: Georgia Southern, Georgia State, and Kennesaw.

      No one clapped at all.
And the college pres looked at the AD and told him if he had “actually scheduled Forest Park High School for the next two years it had damn better be a home and home”.

Unless Brent figures out how to flow Indian Rupees and other overseas currencies from their alumni into NIL, I see the Dawgs continuing their dominance in the series.

  14. Would Key really take the Jackets back to the triple option? None of the programs he’s worked at in the past ran that offense (except maybe Western Carolina, where he only worked one year). And let’s not forget he was part of Gee-yoff’s regime at Tech, whose one productive act was to move the program past the 3O and toward something more contemporary.

But hey, if Key wants to move the Jackets backward, with all the recruiting limitations that entails, I’m not about to stand in his way.

I’m actually glad Tech hired someone that will make it fun for me to hate them again.

Looking forward to that Philly Special on the 2-point conversion to set the MOV record next season.

Maybe “beat our instate opponent in our own stadium once this century” is a better starter goal?

Key said, “there is no feeling like dominating your opponent”.
    He knows this how?
Maybe CKS whispered it in his ear after the cofh game.
