What a long, strange trip it’s been.

The former walk on is going to New York.

Fantastic for Stetson, of course, but what a selling point for Kirby Smart, Todd Monken and Georgia football on the recruiting trail.

Good for you, SBIV! They’ll probably screw him over, but that just puts him in the playoffs with an extra chip on his shoulder.

He has to wear a red with black lapel smoking jacket to the ceremony, if your last name ends in IV it’s required.

As we all know this award is a shell of itself but like you all, I am VERY happy that SBIV is in the mix. He should win it by all rights, but there are other players on our team that could/should be there too. There are players on other teams’ that have a legit claim too. This season has been unique, lotta kids balling out on both sides of the ball.

What a ride! So, should Kirby have started Stetson over Fromm?

I know Arch is going to play for a good QB coach, but how can you look at what the coaches have done with Stetson at UGA and say “Nah, I’m good.”?

  9. Congrats to a DGD!

I bet he would trade this for another trophy in January.

If this doesn’t get Monken the Broyles Award, I would be floored.

Congratulations to Stetson. May need to lock down our northern border. The vol fans are riled up and ready for action.

Three years ago the odds on a bet on Stetson winning the Heisman would have been something like 100,000 to 1. I never thought Stetson would even be a starter and how wrong was I and everybody else. Stetson is a DGD and, when we win this Natty, his number should be retired. Congratulations to SBIV! Bring it home again!

I don’t know how Trippi, Rauch, Bratkowski, or Tarkington finished in the Heisman vote. I do recall Ray Goff finishing 7th in the Heisman vote in 1976 and no Georgia QB finishing higher since.
My response to the news is, “Georgia won’t have a top 4 Heisman candidate with Bennett at QB!”

I think this makes SBIV the first Dawg QB to make the trip to NY. Even Stafford and Murray didn’t get to go.

    Damn. Good. Dawg.

I believe this the the first Dawg invite since Garrison (93?). Been a long damn time considering all the great players that have come through Athens.

    Congrats Stet! Well deserved.

Congratulations to Mr. Stetson Bennett IV! Stet won me over early last year and I caught some shit for it here. But to be honest, I never dreamed he would rise to these heights. But there was one guy here who was saying Stetson was the best QB on the team before the 2019 season. If you are reading this, step up and take a bow.

And, if they truly gave the award for its stated purpose, he’d be close to a shoe in.

The Heisman Memorial trophy annually recognizes the outstanding college football player whose performance best exhibits the pursuit of excellence with integrity. Winners epitomize great ability, combined with diligence, perseverance and hard work.

It’s a shame that award has lost its true meaning.

In a year where no one set the world on fire statistically it makes sense to me to present it as a career award to Bennett. But I don’t think it will happen.

My buddy who isn’t even a Georgia fan just reminded me (with a screenshot) of a Futures bet he made back in July:

    SBIV for Heisman
    $25 to win $2,525

I’m I imagining this ….or does anyone else remember the defense on the Rose Bowl team(Roquan, Lorenzo etc) complimenting SBIV for how well he ran OU’s offense for the scout team. As hard as it seems to be for many to admit he does have a” particular set of skills”

  40. I’ll say it: SBIV, GOAT.
