He didn’t win the Broyles Award, by the way. And after this joke, he should’ve.

Todd Monken did not win the Broyles Award.
He did however share an amazing Lou Holtz impression and talked about getting him cookies. pic.twitter.com/W2S6uMt3pL

Propping up Bobo for something??

Bobo was great at scripting plays. Then the balance would kick in…….

Agreed, Bobo could script and design. He would fail at a higher rate than acceptable deeper into the game when you were playing the chess match with the DC.

I was certain this was a “Monken is taking a HC job with ___” post. Whew!

Shockley pointed this out during the game radio broadcast but I don’t think I believed it at the time.

Odd things– coach monken and the Ga Tech DC thacker are apparently good friends. I think they used to work together.

Thacker (who is from Cumming, GA) was hired by Monken, when Monken was head coach at Southern Miss, as his first real coaching job (prior to that he was a graduate assistant).

Yeah I knew it was somewhere like that… but couldn’t remember the exact details.

If Monken didn’t win the award,
they should quit giving it out.

It’s cool that Bobo scripted the blocked kick/return!

Don’t ever all caps breaking news and use Monken’s name first again. I almost had a heart attack.

I am the chocolate cookie baking king. I can bake soft & chewy or crispy. High or flat. I bake a dozen weekly for my sweet 90 year old MIL. The neighbors enjoy them also.
My gawd what happened to me? I used to deal in hot lead and cold steel, explosives and granite. Now it’s cookies and woodworking.

I still train. But it’s all defense now. I never trained defensively much in the past. A good offense is the best defense. Take the fight to the enemy.

WTF took you so long?

I was simply too busy. I had a piece of inch and a quarter thick x 18” square polished granite for 15 years. I finally made a range table with fallen cedar posts. Dowel cut the braces from limbs. It’s ugly but sturdy. Got moss on the legs that I turned to the north.
I’m the worst carpenter in the world but as God is my witness I’ll work until I’m the second worst.

I am officially inviting you to come preach for me some Sunday. Then we can spend the afternoon drinking good bourbon, baking cookies and talking about granite quarries in Bowman and Fortsonia. But we won’t eat BBQ here. It sucks.

I wouldn’t let you down, Rev. I’ve been known to teach an 8 hour class without saying fuck or shit even once.
Somewhere up in those hills someone is making some good corn liquor the old way. But a good taxed bourbon is hard to beat.

Supposedly Elijah Craig was a preacher before he was a founding father of bourbon. Not sure if that’s true or not. But I like his bourbon a whole lot. Preachers know stuff …..

I like mine crispy, RR. For the rest of the details I’ll leave to your better judgment. Thanks!

I’ve never had a ho made pickle that could hold a candle to a store bought pickle. Not something I’ll attempt.
Got Cowdog is your man. He’s been talking about making a batch.
I’ll put my chocolate chip cookies up against anybodies. I had fried aged venison loin biscuits this morning. I can’t see how those could be any better.

You know, his intermittent OCD preoccupation with “balance” aside, Bobo was a pretty good coordinator for us. Deserved better than to get tossed overboard by Bryan Harsin last year . . . though being thrown clear of that disaster turned out to be a blessing.

Sounds like a man that enjoys being in Athens. Hopefully it’s the sound of a coach that wants to retire in Athens.

How do you not love that guy? DGD. I hope he’s comfortable as hell in Athens. It’s a great place to grow old and be a legend.

Yeah, I was coming here to post that, too. It’s a great speech, and I’m happy he’s on our side. I hope that he stays a while longer for sure. Not only does he do great work on the field, but I think he is a great mentor for younger coaches, too. He seems to really enjoy Kirby and they have a good working relationship. Let’s keep that going.

OT but check out “SEC in 60” on the SEC Network. This week’s episode is a recap of our entire season. Pretty cool summary through the SECCG.

Good call, Russssss mannnnnn. Another good show is SEC Inside. Covers the SECC game. The best part is the slo-mo capture of the Dawgs blocking the FG. Chris Smith is turned laughing his ass off most of the way.
It’s on again at 0600 followed by SEC In 60.

What ever bonus Coach Monken was to get for winning that award is given to him anyway by the AD. Coach earned it. I would not trade him for any other OC in CF.

Look Kirby has surrounded himself with former team mates and like it or not, Bobo was a good OC and Muschamp was a hell of a DC. Kirby trusts them.
Monken, needs to be paid a lot of money. Here’s hoping his wife loves Athens and doesn’t want to leave.
