Random morning after thought

Just thinking back to that Josh Pate clip I posted yesterday… sure, TCU had to bring their A game to have a legit shot at winning last night and Georgia didn’t, but there’s not a high enough mark for the Horned Frogs, or any team in the country, to reach to counter Georgia bringing their A game.

And I may be Dawgrading Georgia’s performance, as they were a blown coverage due to a miscommunication and a shanked extra point away from playing as close to a perfect game as I’ve ever seen a Georgia team play.  Jeebus.

That was my thought after the game too — literally like a missed coverage and using the backup holder on the last XP leading to a missed XP away from a perfect game.

I said the same thing to people I was texted with during the game: with the exception of one blown coverage and a missed extra point, this was as close to perfection as I had ever seen. Beautiful to watch.

IIRC, one punt and one series ended in kneel down. Every other possession ended in points. And the only mistake I saw on D was that blown coverage that amounted to roughly 1/3 of TCU’s yardage on the night. Yeah, I would say that was Georgia’s A game.

I thought the Oregon game looked like a walk through, but this game made that one look downright sloppy.

Yeah I thought at the time that I had never seen Georgia dominate an opponent so thoroughly as they did Oregon then last night they go and top that

I’m not even sure how good or bad TCU played, because Georgia at their best may just be that much better than them.

I’ll give Pod a pass on that shanked extra point. If my math is right, that was his 20th kick of the night (kickoffs, PATs, FG). His leg was probably exhausted. I’m too lazy and apathetic to look it up, but what is the record for most kicks in a game by a single kicker?

B12 limps away from bowl season – with a bag full of cash.

National title game turned into a rent-a-win laugher.

All we heard all week is about how tough TCU was and that they would keep fighting back. Those dudes quit in the 2nd quarter. They had no idea the hell that was about to be unleashed on them and they didn’t want any part of it.

Yep. That shows you what a joke it was that Michigan won the Moore award. TCU had never seen anything like our lines of scrimmage.

They looked completely shell shocked even immediately after their lone touchdown

Their face’s definitely had a “what the hell have we gotten ourselves into” look

You can bet your sweet bippy that the holder on that extra point will receive a thorough coaching moment.

Can’t be a fourth quarter team when you don’t let TCU survive the first quarter

Signs your opponent is completely outclassed, all of which occurred last night

You rush three guys, including some freshmen, the refs have stopped calling holding since the first quarter, probably for player safety and you still get to the quarterback

The broadcast team is making jokes at halftime about how out of hand the game’s already gotten

On the rare plays where TCU has multiple defenders and Georgia has no blockers in the area McIntosh and bowers still pull off 5-10 yards on the play

When we’re up 31-7 and you think that TCU trying to get back in the game is a really bad idea (even knowing we get the ball in the second half) because we’ve been living in their backfield all night and of course they throw a pick that results in a TD that makes the beatdown worse

False starts and penalties are just more opportunities for the offense to pad their stats

You’re fully confident in the offense’s ability to convert 3rd and 15+ and they do

Kirbys final comments in the post game presser about the scout team defense, and the job they did cannot go unnoticed nor understated. He went out of the way to be sure they recieved the credit for teeming up our O so well. Tremendous job all around.

It’s not even remotely hyperbolic to suggest we could have won 66-0. Or 70-0, if we score a TD instead of a FG.

Watching last night with my son and a buddy, we took over on our own 8 in 2nd quarter after a TCU punt, my remark was “hot damn, more stats!” Just under 6 minutes later we were in the end zone again… 11 plays and 92 yards.
