Barring another signing day shocker next week, Florida’s Big Three will hit a new low for in-state recruiting — at least by one measure.

The Gators, Seminoles and Hurricanes are on track to sign only three Florida natives who are ranked among the nation’s top 100 prospects, according to the 247Sports composite. That’s the lowest number of the modern recruiting era; they landed four in three of the past four cycles.

Chaser.

Another concerning figure: Georgia will end up signing more of the state’s top recruits (six) than the Big Three combined.

Looks like we run that state, too.

  3. That’s pretty damning right there. With the talent that Florida produces (including IMG), all 3 schools have enough blue chips to go around. The fact that we are growing the gap into a chasm by recruiting Florida the way we do is just icing on the cake.

There’s no easy solution for any of the Florida schools. Not only is their homeland routinely raided by outsiders like Kirby, it shrinks the remaining talent pool to compete over. 3 P5 schools competing over an ever shrinking slice of pie is not good for any of them and leads to poorly calculated chess moves to defeat each other like the Rashada debacle. They all end up losing.

    • Here is a list of schools that signed Florida players in this class before the Handbags’ highest recruit (includes recruits from IMG):

      Alabama (2)
      Miami
      Colorado
      Georgia (4)
      Texas
      Florida State
      Ohio State

Florida signed all of 1(!) of the top 20 players in state. Sun Belt Billy has a relationship problem on his hands.

Kirby is kicking ass recruiting in Florida. Getting their absolute best players. But fuggedaboutit if you think one of those kids want to attend the Jax game.

Fsu was ranked #2 overall for this years transfers, maybe they just threw in a towel, but they are loaded to make a run this year with Clempson slipping & the rest of the ACC being garbage.

The other 2 once-upon-a-long-time-ago-has-beens, whelp wake us up after their next decade of floundering.

Florida State always thinks they are primed to make a run. Ten wins is their ceiling anymore. They still think they’re a national power and that’s part of their problem.

Anyone can pull a TCU & get into the dance with the schedule FSU has. Getting to the table at #4 in the nation can be done. Staying there & beating the top teams will be hard, but right now all the way too early lists have fsu in the top 7 or 8 preseason teams. They beat LSU last year.

LSU was not the same team in that first game as the one Georgia smacked in the SECC. LSU would have beaten Florida State like they stole something later in the season.

This may be the stat that would’ve floored 90s me more than any other and is, in my opinion, the most unappreciated reason for the consolidation of power at the top of college football. Of course, there’s a chicken and egg element there, but it’s a hell of a lot harder for Bama and UGA to do what we’ve been doing without our success in Floristan.
