Just do something!

I definitely don’t have a dog in this particular hunt, but it sure is fun to watch the turmoil being generated in the Big Ten over Michigan’s alleged sign stealing operation.  Coaches want action, man.

And are they gonna get it?  Welp…

He’s probably right about that, but even so, it’s nice to welcome Michigan into the ranks of the cynical.

The only way Michigan or tge Big Ten would respond, is if McGarity was in charge

The conference protecting their playoff contender reminds me of when the SEC refused to deal with Cam Newton.

Hey now, that’s not fair. Cam Newton was suspended…for less than 24 hours.

I’d kinda like to see the meltdown if Michigan or the Big Ten did something similar. Hold a press conference to announce that Harbaugh’s suspension is over while all of the reporters look at each other, scratching their heads, wondering when the suspension started.

Somewhere at the root of the outrage sits tOSU. If anything trumps money it’s ego in the b10.

Sign stealing has to be an ‘everybody does it’ thing. Maybe Michigan took it to a new level, but this feels like a lot of stones coming from glass houses.

Why even have rules if you aren’t going to enforce them? I have no doubt that people review film and observe from the coaches box and all of that to try to steal signs, but those don’t violate any rules made about the matter as far as I know. If everybody’s doing what Michigan is doing, prove it and punish them, too.

    ‘Michigan to the SEC?’

That would finally be the bridge too far for me.

They’ll at least drag their feet through the postseason (or as far as Michigan goes) before doing anything. This is strictly a moneymaking venture. They’ll kill Michigan’s season when RJR quits selling cigarettes.

If anyone thinks the new Big Ten commissioner is going to derail one of their top programs, and one who is chasing their first championship in almost 30 years, you are insane. And the NCAA certainly isn’t going to do anything either. Even if they did, Michigan could simply file an injunction and this will get pushed off until 2025 or later.

The end result of this will be similar to Tennessee’s punishment – a slap on the wrist.

Meanwhile, Corch is quietly reviewing his contract terms with MSU and locating the best prisons to recruit from.

  13. The straw that breaks the camel’s back IMO will be if the mystery man at the CMU vs MSU game really turns out to be Conner Stallions. It looks to be him by the way, and ole Horse Teeth didn’t sound too convincing in his presser earlier this week when he declared innocence and full cooperation. In short, if true, we have collusion between teams to cheat against other teams. Crazy.

If all the other schools in the B10 sign a doc declaring that they’ve never cheated at anything, all things college football…then behold move forward with the action B10.

Auburn and most significantly Cam just kept winning through their scandal. Michigan and especially Harbaugh are gonna mess up in a game before Ohio State and will end up 10-2. I can’t wait to see Bama beat those dicks in a jumped up Citrus Bowl.

Michigan to the SEC would be the worst bluff ever. They’d forfeit the season before it came close to that.

I feel like the BIG has to do something. I agree with these quotes from an article on The Athletic.

“The coaches in the conference are going to try to use it and make an example of Michigan,” one recent Big Ten assistant said. “That’s the problem. It’s the Big Ten and the Big Ten coaches that are saying ‘eff that.’ They’re gonna plead to the Big Ten: ‘I thought we’re the conference of integrity, sportsmanship, class and academic excellence.’ That’s really what’s gonna get ‘em.”

Another longtime Big Ten staffer sees an immediate postseason ban as the only reasonable response. The staffer argued that, regardless of how the College Football Playoff committee treats this situation, new Big Ten commissioner Tony Petitti needs to step in for the good of the conference.

“If you’re doing it — which they did — and you’re caught — which they were — and it’s explicitly against the rules — which it is — and everyone believes that to some degree it’s a competitive advantage, then they shouldn’t be able to play in the Big Ten title game,” he said. “The Big Ten owes 13 other programs the competitive balance and owes it to them to protect the sanctity of the conference. If that many programs have confirmed that he bought tickets specifically under his name, they can’t play in the Big Ten title game. There’s no gray area. It’s explicitly against the rules.”

  19. The crux is if you do nothing when the evidence is this obvious, then you have made the act legal for everyone else. I could see the commissioner avoiding a postseason ban that could be a huge moneymaker, and settling for a scholarship reduction starting in 2024. The NFL takes first round picks for cheating like Spygate. Scholarship reductions are the equivalent. The kicker is that Harbaugh will be on an NFL sideline next season, and Michigan will be left dealing with the consequences.

    Two thoughts:

I’d like for those khaki led wannabe tough guys to meet us in the title game for an ass kicking of biblical proportions.
I don’t think it’s as out of the question as some of you think that Michigan gets a postseason ban this year. There is verifiable evidence of cheating this season. The conference is filthy rich already and the postseason revenue is negligible in the big picture. Self imposing a postseason ban and firing Harbaugh may be the only way of not sending the program back to the stone age.

Drew Butler was talking today about the latest crazy conspiracy theory (I have no idea if any of it’s remotely true – but when has that ever stopped anyone on the interwebz): Rumors are that UM gave their sign intel to USCjr for their games against UT and Clemson to try and keep them out of the playoffs.

    The theory goes that:
    1. SC was shite the weeks before, then suddenly became offensive/defensive juggernauts against 2 good teams that UM was known to have scouted.
    2. SC defensive players started wearing wristbands and checking the sidelines for play calls those 2 games for the first time all year.
    3. One of SC’s coaches worked at UM under Harbaugh.
    4. It was in UM’s great interest to have one or both of them lose (in case they lost to anOSU or B1G champ) to clear a path to the CFP.

If true, and “if” is doing some heavy lifting here, that’s a whole other level that may require some action (that probably still won’t happen for a long time). Of course, it could also be crazy talk from the methbillies at UT.

Is Dan Patrick going to somehow include UGA into Michigan’s transgressions like he tried to do when Tennessee got busted for recruiting violations in 2021?
