Jeez, what’s left of the Pac-12’s body is still warm…

Well, the December weather’s certainly nicer. But, if true, that’s a helluva kick in the wallet to those fans following a team playing in that championship game and then going on to the CFP. Then again, in certain quarters that’s probably seen as a feature, not a bug.

UPDATE: I see the tweet has been removed, so apparently it’s either wrong or premature. Good news for the wallets of Michigan and Ohio State fans, I guess.
Insanity. Another day, another terrible idea to ruin the sport for a few extra bucks.

You’re gonna hear some complaining from the midwest team the first time they get matched up against one of the LA schools in that game. Not a good thing for home field.
Also, might need to break out the seat tarps for that first time two midwestern teams not named Michigan, Ohio State, or Penn State play one another.

Can’t wait to see Michigan/OSU square off in Vegas for a big-something title.

Big Something. 😎 That’s a great alternative to the B1g Integer. However, I think that the “Big Tent” Conference fits a little better.

Fewer plebs can afford to go means more high-priced corporate tickets to sell, score another win for the moneychangers!

You’ve got that backwards. The corporate tickets are removed from the supply before anything else goes on sale to the schools or the general public if it makes it that far. And a lot of the value that comes with corporate tickets is that there is demand among regular fans to go to the game (after all, the people that use those corporate tickets are very often regular fans themselves). If it’s a game where demand drops because regular fans can’t afford the trip (cost or time), then the value of that game for corporate sponsors also drops precipitously. The greatest asset a corporate group has when it comes to entertaining people with tickets is the perception of scarcity. If you’re inviting someone to a game that is going for $800/ticket just to get in the nosebleeds and they get to sit in the lower level between the 50s, they’re going to remember it. If you’re inviting them to that VT/Boston College ACC CG in Jacksonville, they’re going to be thinking in the back of their mind they you weren’t able to give those tickets away to anyone else.

The B1G took two teams, then two more, now they’re taking the Pac-12’s home…this has turned into a real “Hand That Rocks the Cradle” type situation.

That’s their cfp finals game- might as well have some fun, since that’s as far as they’ll get.

Nothing screams college football like Las Vegas. I’m sure there will be no fallout from this.

Goodness…Vegas taking over faster than I thought. That’s where the money is. Awesome idea to send college kids there to support their team.
Yes, gambling is everywhere and growing more pervasive among a younger crowd . Kids know and participate. But official endorsement of it by institutions of higher learning is a whole nother slippery slope college presidents should know better to go down. I’m certain the committee will look into this too. /s

Has to be better than Indy.

I thought the consensus was that Indy was pretty much the perfect place to have neutral site games? I have been to Vegas twice and that is 2x more than necessary.

Despite the cold, Indy was a MUCH better location for the Natty than LA. I don’t see Vegas being any better than LA.

Much better, many more hotels right in the same area…plus Craps tables. 🙂

I’m sure that’s true, but once again, it would not be the most important event happening in town at the time. Gambling in general will always be top of the heap in Vegas; that weekend in Indy, the game and associated activities were THE most important item on the agenda and the fans were treated as such.

Sounds like the Big10 players will be able place bets on their own team in person.

Many states allow sports gambling…our goons are protecting us from it.

To be exact
Since a Supreme Court ruling in 2018, 30 states and DC now offer some form of sports gambling.
Three more states have legalized sports wagering but have not yet launched, and Florida’s status is in limbo.
That leaves 16 states with no form of sports gambling.

Gotta think there are still 5 power conferences if they don’t put their foot down over the 12 team format a couple years ago. “Careful what you wish for…”

If you can’t beat a team from the Southeast go play a Northern team in the Southwest. I guess…
