One problem with the SEC winning six national titles in a row is that the fan base begins to get a little nonchalant with the hardware.
The next stage will be somebody picking up a trophy and deliberately throwing it into a fireplace as a gesture of celebration.
How long before the athletic department is auctioning off shards on their website??

Actually, not a far fetched idea at all, Castle. I can imagine jewelry with crystal stones, or paper weights, etc. Alabama class rings set with crystal, wow! It could be worth a fortune! I hope they didn’t just sweep it up and throw it away. ..And Auburn could do the same thing with lumber from those oaks…Wooden plaques engraved with all sorts of things…a new pew for Cam’s daddy’s church over in Newnan, eagle sculptures…A fortune is waiting to be made.

Well the first Saban championship wouldn’t have happened if Colt McCoy wasn’t injured. Hell even the Texas back up who has since proved to be ineffective made it a game in the fourth quarter. Clearly the second one was tainted, too; couldn’t even win their conference.
So this shouldn’t be that big a deal to Alabama fans; I’m sure they see things the same way I do.

Didn’t Aaron Murray drop and break one of Florida’s crystal footballs on his visit to see the Gators?

Yea, I was going to say that at least at Alabama, one of their own players broke the crystal.

That reminds me of the SNL skit where Susan Lucci still hadn’t won an Emmy and you see all of the SNL cast carrying Emmys around. Kevin Nealon was using two of them as cornholders while eating corn on the cob.

Iconoclasts unite!. What gets me also is that the trophy is made of sand. Like the business that followed the destruction of the Berlin Wall and the sale of concrete construction pieces, I’m now eyeing my chrstal as to how many pieces I can break it into for resale. I’m close to both Bama and FU Wal-Marts. Hell, I have some old plain drinking glass with diamonet molding not of ultra purity that, once smashed, suckers can’t tell the difference.
Anyone want to buy a piece of the Berlin Wall? It’s authenticated.

Just minutes after being shattered, Alabama’s CS crystal trophy was immediately smoked by Tide fans, having mistaken it for meth.
