“Coming in he set the standard early for us.”

Let’s hope Mel Tucker’s good work at Alabama carries over to his new gig.

Thanks for the article. I know next to nothing about him.

And nothing about Glen Frey? Man, you really did hate the Eagles.

PTC, I don’t get it either. I mean sure it’s part of an awesome movie. But why can’t the movie be awesome and the Eagles be awesome too. Cuz they just were…I wouldn’t call the Eagles country-rock or country b/c most of what people consider “country-rock” makes my skin crawl and if it ain’t Hank or Waylon or Johnny or few others then I’m passin’ on the country too. The Eagles were waaay better than country, that’s why they ain’t country. Especially this bad pop music that some people call country today…ugghh…

Please don’t discount all new country Nate…Sturgill Simpson is fantastic.

            • I used to love the Eagles until I got suckered into the Hell Freezes Over “retirement” tour in ’94. Saved forever to buy $250 tickets because they said they were done touring. I can’t even count how many “retirement” tours they had for years after. I appreciate the music but they’re dirty and that’s putting it nicely. 😡

Lamont you’re right absolutely on Sturgill…(speaking of kick-ass names…) and probably Jamey Johnson and a handful of others. And I’ve seen the Eagles twice, and I paid too much, and I don’t regret it for a second. I’M AN EAGLES FAN. There…I said it…haha…

Wonder what Mojo Nixon is thinking tonight? At least Henley and Frey can’t get back together any more.

            • Thanks will have to give Sturgill Simpson a try. By everything I have read and heard Henley is an awful person and the Eagles were one major dysfunctional band. Although, I did see and like them on their first two tours. The lead in band was some of the Bryds members. Was a great show.

The great story of how T Bone Burnett secured the music rights for Lebowski:

A tougher get was Townes Van Zandt’s cover of the Rolling Stones’ “Dead Flowers,” which plays over Lebowski’s closing credits. “[Former Stones manager] Allen Klein owns the rights to it,” Burnett says. “He wanted $150,000.” Burnett begged Klein to just come down and watch an early cut of Lebowski. “It got to the part where the Dude says, ‘I hate the fuckin’ Eagles, man!’ Klein stands up and says, ‘That’s it, you can have the song!’ That was beautiful.” For the record, Burnett agrees with the Dude (“[The Eagles] sort of single-handedly destroyed that whole scene that was brewing back then,” he says), but the line infuriated Glenn Frey. “I ran into [Frey] and he gave me some shit,” Jeff Bridges says. “I can’t remember what he said exactly, but my anus tightened a bit.”

For the mathematically inclined amongst youse, this “the group secured more interceptions (19) than it gave up passing touchdowns (17)” sounds like a good thing, right?

Honestly, if he as good with recruiting and coaching DB’s as CJP, he will be fine. We were so young there this year, and I think everyone is coming back, so this should continue to be a team strength. He and CKS working together to coordinate a defense will be fun to watch.

So, he didn’t call Nck and ask for a job when he got canned in Chicago, Nick called him. Didn’t Nick do something similar with Lane? Nick sure is lucky. Or, he knows what he’s doing.

I’m not an Eagles hater but I don’t like them very much either. At this point hating them is cliche. Mostly they just made music that wasn’t great. Big deal. Another vote here for Sturgill Simpson.
