Not much happening today

Well, except for that whole scrimmage thingy

Well, yeah. Jacob Eason has been given a main audition for the role this week, and could get most of the snaps in Saturday’s scrimmage. The team then has Sunday and Monday off, and returns to practice on Tuesday, at which point there may be more clarity.

At minimum, the competition will likely be pared down to two, and it would be a shock if Eason isn’t one of the two. If he did well this week and on Saturday he could even be given the job.

But if not, Greyson Lambert (or maybe Brice Ramsey) will be given a chance to keep competing to start. (In a practice hype video posted by the team Thursday, Ramsey is seen throwing a pass that was picked off by sophomore cornerback Deandre Baker. Eason isn’t shown passing, while Lambert is seen completing a pass to Javon Wims.)

It could go all the way until kickoff on Sept. 3 before the world finds out who’s starting. Or the coaching staff may see enough to make a decision this weekend. That’s why Saturday will be huge.

If the coaches still find themselves unable to narrow the field to two by next week, I’m gonna start twitching nervously.  Just so you know.

Nope. Gonna leave that to the coach since angst is part of his job description. He will get it correct……or be ridden out of town on a rail.

Why would he “get it correct” and be ridden out of town? I don’t follow your reasoning.

It was not intended to be reasoning. Where did you get the “and”? I don’t follow your “reasoning”.

So you don’t think that he could pick the best of the bunch and avoid criticism if we lose? You act as if there’s a sure bet, no lose choice and it’s just up to CKS to choose wisely. That’s bs. The best of the bunch might lead us to 6-6 and you couch coaches will be screaming that he should have picked “X” instead. That’s coaching. It’s about results, not picking your best qb, because no one will believe he got it right if we’re losing.

Bottom line: choosing wisely is no guarantee of success and the fans will not give him the benefit of the doubt if we ain’t winning. Therefore he could pick wisely AND get run. That’s how it goes.

Final predictions? I was rooting for Ramsey to take it with Eason as back-up, but even with Ramsey supposedly performing better in fall camp, my gut says Lambert gets the job.

What I find scary is that neither Richt or Schott…..r could decide who to go with last year with two of these same qb’s and now Smart and Cheney are in the same boat, it seems. Those are 4 guys that have seen a bunch of qb’s over the years. How do you not just make a decision and live with it? The only question is when to give the reins to Eason. Boys, make a decision!

I don’t think the coaches are wallowing in doubt nearly as much as they are acting like they are. I think they have a decent idea who they want to start against NC right now, and I think they will have an even better idea after today. But I also think Kirby will tell us will spend next week feigning indecision, and I’m fine with that. I’d do the same if I were him.

Showing North Carolina film of BR throwing an interception..that could be counter-psychology to have them preparing for Lambert.
Actually, I don’t think NC would prepare any different for any of the three. If there is an opportunity for Georgia to spring a surprise, it would be with Brice Ramsey because he is mobile and can keep the defensive backs in a little tighter.
The more we have to bullshit one another about our thoughts and knowledge, the closer we get to seeing reality. Ain’t it great? Two weeks till “Hunker’um Down” time!

The QBRs. When are we going to see the QBRs? How do you expect us to make judgements based only on viscera? What? Oh. We’ve been operating on viscera all along? I knew I was, but hell, I thought all the other experts here were using data. Now I get it; they’ve just been acting like they have been using QBRs while pretending to share expertise, but they really are speculating just like me. Do you mean that the new love on Ramsey isn’t based on QBR? Wtf is it based on, prey tell?

As a local, I expected you to tell us they practiced in spite of the rain. Now, if you don’t mind, go and rustle up some QBRs. They only had one dropped pass between them all in the first hour of rain.

So since it was rained out and the indoor practice field is not finished is it McGarity’s fault the QB question is unanswered?

Just when Holifield is down with an ankle injury and no info coming out. If it takes some time to report it out, then my inference is that it’s complicated and that’s never good. OK, you influentials on here:. Where in hell is your report of ankle injury extent? Like Dominos, our RBs are falling and arising just enough to keep our sympathy going strong for those going down while we twist our emotions the other direction for those recovering.

If they all aren’t ready to pound NC, who do you want for QB?

You guys are all acting like KS is dying to tell you his plan for game 1. Would Nick tell you his plan for game 1? I’m not saying any of our coaches are lying, Dawg forbid, but the simplest explanation, and the most Process like one, is that they have a pretty good idea what they’re going to do and they just don’t want to tip it to UNC just yet.

The other explanation would be that they are 1. overmatched, 2. indecisive or 3. incompetent. Lambert and Ramsey may not be anyone’s idea of ideal starters, but both have experience. Eason was probably the top QB recruit in the country last year. I don’t think our staff is overmatched, indecisive, or incompetent. They may not know what we’re gonna get when the band is actually playing, but I would bet you a tall cold one they know who’s going to be out there.
